- 2CV Greenlane video goes live at 6pm on @HubNut
Amusingly, this was us testing the new DJI Mic set up, which then failed to connect to the phone when we recorded the actual greenlane 2CV video, and also the second part of this HubNotes Vlog. Bah! Learning all the time people.

The power of love. Taking two ladies out on a date. Lucky man!!
Mullet Man and Pink Lady go hi tech then it all goes hubnut ! Brilliant 🙂
Definitely sound improvement to start with here. Any video with Elly is always a good one - now off to watch the greenlaning!
New mics, when connected, are excellent! I know just how noisy a 2CV is and that first bit is really impressive.
2nd bit is also impressive although a bit quiet - the phone mic does a good job getting rid of the noise and keeping at least some of the voice.
That’s reminded me: I was at that petrol station a few weeks ago, and there was a lovely “care worn” example of air cooled French machinery parked up. Later seen thundering down North Parade late at night at about 15mph, making a lovely thrum. It was a real treat for the senses.
Looks and sounds great, Ian (apart from the way back, unfortunately). Now don't go losing or misplacing things: I do think Carly should once again bring her sense of organisation to bear, making you follow her ideas of arranging, storing, labelling ... tools, parts, and the lot.
Now you've taken Ellie up there it makes taking Betty even funnier I wished I'd seen the look on the farmers face!! May have to go back and watch the Betty vid again.
That was definitely amber!... I see another t-shirt coming for the store😁
The Album version of I Would Do Anything For Love is already 13 minutes! No mention of greenlaning in a 2CV - must be in a super extended limited edition version!
Awesome stuff Hubnuts 😊👍
Thanks Ian & Carly new system is good. You both keep me smiling with your videos. Hope for many more.
Looking and sounding good, both. Scenery is pretty decent, too.
Great little vlog Aberystwyth looks beautifal with nice blue skies. Looking forward to the Greenlane video.
Sound is great when mic is connected as it's enough atmosphere but you can still hear you two. The rode was sounding like it's got the gain turned up too high and it's then distorting. I've noticed the issue with other people that use them as well. Hopefully the new ones will behave in future!
I had to turn the Rode down to -27db to stop it clipping out! Still would on occasion even so. Crazy.
Thought at first you’d converted Elly to left hand drive…(major tinkering) and a shame you had mic problems 2nd half of video, but then it wouldn’t be Hubnut/notes if everything worked. Great to see you enjoying yourselves as usual!
Picture quality is good, sound is excellent - not entirely struck with the picture in picture thing if I am honest, but I may be a lone voice in among the thousands...
New kit is a big thumbs up guys. Fantastic
All good Ian and Carly. I watched the hill clime earlier and it was great fun for the viewer, not so much for Carly I think.
Sounded great at the start but did you forget to plug the mikes in later on????
I was looking out my favourite destinations in Aber as I was a student there a while back. The Beechings you drove past but seems different but I did catch Spartacus my favourite sandwich destination! That hill is epic, many drunken walks up and down. I wonder how many students now drive, were not many in my day but is even more expensive now.
Not a fan of picture in picture. The new mic is good, teething troubles I'm sure you'll figure it out. Thanks for all your videos.
Significantly better audio on the way out, home bound also good but a little quieter. Did a good job screening the noise from the engine etc. Twin camera is good, just need to work on the positioning. You should be able to flip the camera in settings 👍 Looks like Carly really enjoyed the trip 😂
May I suggest one does take notice of the road when the is a lot of things happening around you. For example you drove through the pedestrian lights, yes they were on amber but you had plenty of time to see the pedestrians waiting which should have given you the clue the lights could change, which they did. This may upset some people who were trying to cross the road, especially if you run a impatient person over.
I loved visiting Aber (91-94)whilst my then girlfriend / fiance was studying (mostly) there. I spent a week's wages on an engagement ring on one visit ...
The train journey in goes through beautiful scenery and the road from inland (past Plynlimon) is lovely if you can find it without traffic - it was 'interesting' in an empty hired transit when I went to help my wife move out!
Thanks for the memories!
Mic worked well when it worked
I loved the 'we just plug it in' followed by 'better than all the cables' ... I'm guessing it's a module that plugs into the phone but connects wirelessly to the mics ...
I saw you on the M53 yesterday in the Fairmont... if you saw a random guy in a tatty Insignia wave at you it was me...
i think the dual camera view would be good if u can mouth it on the dash. as for the audio its was great at the start but the end its was more like it was recording from the phone
Sound is better, but now can't get rid of the idea of Ian serenading Carly with Meatloaf songs. Looking forward to green lane adventure. So two out of three ain't bad.
You both sound great a lot clearer and the back ground Noise is less so your voice is coming over more Distinct
Like the video picture like that we see you in the corner.great lay out.don’t know what happened after with sound and picture in corner not there?great see you driving about again..
I’m the second half your DJI mic has a matching beard
There’s only going to be one winner and that’s Ellie probably won’t even break a sweat
In-screen image (in the corner) is a mirror-image !
I thought Miss HubNut was driving at first .
AY UP MR AND MRS HUBNUT
Just noticed, the first part of the video creates a left-hand-drive Ellie (inset). How did I not notice that until the second part?
Sound is good at the start but 2nd part too quiet.
New toys to play with 🤓🤔🎤
Greenlaning in a 2cv on HubNut.....what could possibly go wrong 😂
Bike rack for the 2cv?
Maybe a bad idea, probably get robbed.
The sound is a lot better than it has been recently, at least at first before the connection failed.
👍😃👍
Call me old fashioned for not liking change, but I prefer the old in car footage/camera tbh. Not broke, don't fix it.
First part, the sound is very good (and I'm that person on Zoom who always doesn't quite catch what people are saying). The sound on the way back: Ian's voice is kind of ok, but I have real problems with catching all that Miss HubNut is saying. Is there just one mike? My thought is that connections are always the weak link, cables are more reliable than wireless but consumer cable connections are not robust enough and maybe holding the plugs in the sockets with gaffer tape would be a possibility? When the new mike is good, it's very good, but what you need is effortless reliability, and I don't know where you get that.
I wasn't particularly taken with the picture-in-picture, but I'm not a great fan of that, anyway. My impression is that the convention is to put the inset picture in the bottom right corner, and I think I find that easier to follow, but that might just be me. Perhaps have a poll of your avid fanbase?
Lovely to see Elly out in the sun, and Aberystwyth looking positively Mediterranean.
Thanks. Second half, the mic didn't connect at all...
@@hubnotes Turned the volume up it was fine !
@@hubnotes So that's just the mike on the phone? Not too bad. Though not good enough.
Agreed. Thanks Michael.
Additional thought: instead of holding plugs in sockets with gaffer tape, maybe a rubber band would do, or even an elastic truss. Ooh er, missus.
Hi Ian, could if you can turn the mic gain up a tad more.
Which half are you referring to?
@@hubnotes both
Went back to crap audio for the second half, what happened?
The mic receiver seemingly didn't connect to the phone. Had the same issue with the off roading video. Teething trouble with new kit.
Elly is more capable greenlaneing than Betty
Machynlleth is pronounced Ma-cunth-leth and not makky-nelleth, then?
Had a farmer near there in stitches when I asked for directions once.
And there's me with a Welsh granny too. Oh, the shame...
Mack(very hard) un leth (blow through the L) is the best way I can describe it.
There sees to be less treble which makes it less clear to me .
Which half of the video?
Most of it really, I am officially OLD so I have lost some top end and struggle some times.
Another shame about mic issues, makes me wonder if the pluggy-inny bit (technical term!) is being obscured by a phone case, and as a lot of pluggy-inny devices with sticky-outy USB connectors are somewhat "stumpy", therefore the thingy ain't reaching the hole properly & not making it all the way in causing much disappointment, and that's the 2nd time in 24hrs I've made that innuendo-ridde joke because of stumpy USB connectors on external devices... :P
Yes, phone case is definitely the culprit I think.
The sound in the second half wasn't good.
No, mic dropped out.
Took a test yet?
Huge backlog. A waiting game.
@@hubnotes well good luck when I happens…we all need a bit of luck on the day😁👍
To be honest I can't say that I enjoyed watching the front nearside "A" pillar.
Im thinking that a lot more camera practice is needed.
Wow! The mics sound fantastic. The sound quality is *so* much better than in recent in-car videos. Total success!
The 2-way camera is cool.
You could attach a "Multi Wide Angle 90 Degree Turning for Camera Lens for Smart Phone" to improve the 2-way.
A fab Hubnote instalment :)
RE: Pedestrians in the road it looks like you should have given way to the pedestrians at the exit of the round about at the start of the video.
Although, as Ashley Neal says, it's a "should" if it's safe to do so, not a "must".

He would have to haul on the brakes. Pedestrians don't have the right to just walk out there. Ian did nothing wrong under the newish Code.
Two highway code infractions in the first minutes, if pedestrians are crossing or intend to cross at a junction , you must give way, and then a quick jaunt thru an amber light.
I highlight this as my grandchildren cross those roads on a daily basis, more care and attention please, and maybe don’t make videos in the car , if that’s not possible
At 3:15 sound did drop a little, im on a samsung a54 phone but over good.
