Hi. Mr Polymers. Congratulation on your FJR 2015 purchase. I absolutely sure you won't regret it. I have a 2014 now, and I love my bike. I'm also bought mine with 58 years of age. I'm 60 today. Very good luck with hours. Everything you said Shout the bike is literaly true. Bye. João Cunha from Portugal
Years have passed and yesterday I found out that the FJR has an inline 4 cylinder engine. I am currently on a super tenere and after trying a 2005 bmw k1200lt, I instantly loved how smooth a v4 engine feels, and how much power it has. Through the years I have watched FJR1300 reviews, and the countless hours of videos with people riding them, I feel like not a single reviewer put the emphasys on the engine. This bike is basically a racing engine with a drive shaft, a windshield, and saddlebags. I might get the next gen FJR. Hopefully it comes out in 2020, 2021. The super tenere simply isn't made for doing 500 miles on the road. It will do it, and it will get up to speeds no problem but the way it does it feels very unrefined.
Welcome to the FJR Club. I have one as well. I did a review on my channel. In my first year of ownership I put 18,000 miles on mine. I expect that number to continue to climb very high.
Science Biker “Welcome to the club”??? What club? The one you have started in your closed mind?! PLEASE! Why is it that in this country every person who rides a bike has so damn tribalistic about it?! It’s a motorcycle 🏍... Let’s get on with it!
I am hoping that you can share with me about. A couple of things... 1. Which GPS Model is that? I have a GARMIN NUVI 1490 mounted on my stem nut like yours...But I am not happy with it... I need to replace it. 2. For Your iPhone cradle-mount did you have to drill? Also, is that a RAMOUNT Cradle? 3. How did you wire independently for these two external devices? I am currently using the connector with a duplex USB from inside the compartment... And I am not happy with it due to cramping... TIA for your prompt response...
I love my 2014 FJR with Cruz, heated grips and adjustable suspension! About 6 years ago, I had my 2009 FJR on the super slab in NoDak and had her going at 110 and it was like "so what?" Enjoy!
Hey Gene. Let's do a ride together. LOL. Weather in Ohio kinda sucks. Wait until you see my third video. I'm installing cameras front and rear just in the event I get into an accident, etc.
Congrats are in order! I noticed you had commented on my motovlog when l had purchased my new 2015 fjr, so now it was my turn,:-). Wishing you many safe miles of riding. tcrs
Nice bike, take care out there! I got back into motorcycling in 2014... after last riding in 1994. I last owned a '82 Gold Wing Interstate in 1991 and last rode an XR500 in 1994. For some strange reason the 20-year break left me feeling like I'd never ridden a bike ... I started at the bottom, buying an LML150 scooter in April 2014 and only recently upgrading to a '99 Aprilia Pegaso 650, planning to do some dirt road riding. Unfortunately the big single just doesn't do it for me, I'd ultimately like to return to the >1,000cc class and have been looking seriously at the FJR1300 (on my budget, possibly a good used 2002/3 model), or the Kawasaki GTR1400, but more than likely the FJR (I rode a friend's FJ1100 in '87 and liked it). I'm in my early 50s, a fair weather biker and only plan to take the bike out on those nice days for a ride in the country, possibly with my other half on the back. Something that can cover a lot of ground quickly - well 140-150kph - would no doubt be a lot more enjoyable than doing 80-100kph on a 650 single.
I also took a 18 year break. I stopped riding at 24; it got stolen and I had a car so I said screw it. Plus the wife. Now, 42, I am riding again. I bought a tester retired rtp highway patrol bike cheap to see if my body could handle it. It broke and I replaced it 3 weeks ago with a 2018 fjr. I have 10k miles on it already. Not as comfortable a seat but I don’t get hip pain like on the bmw. But, I’m leaning over more. Replaced the wind screen with a proper touring screen. I love it. And I seem to enjoy riding a hundred times more than when I was a kid. Even splitting lanes to work on the freeway (101 in sf Bay Area) is damn fun. Even in the rain. I’m a much better rider now. I felt I forgot how to ride too. For the test ride. But I rode it home after not riding anting for the 18 year about 90 miles. That made me remember. But this time, I practiced some of the slow speed maneuvering and am in much better control then when I was young. It only gets better!
Looks nice! I always thought my Burgman was nice. There's a wide/fast offramp I take everyday. I noticed on the Trophy, I don't have to slow down for that curve like I have to for the Burgman. I love my Trophy just like I'm sure you'll love your FJR!
High Dave. The Garmin came with it's own mount. I use very strong two sided adhesive tape you can get at Home Depot/Lowes. The phone holder was purchased on eBay. Not very expensive, but does bolt on the dash so it's pretty secure. I've done more mods on this..Ssecond video coming soon..
I'd have fun with this in Florida. I assume you made it through Matthew OK. My daughter lives in Naples and my nephew lives in Vero Beach. He evacuated to your hood but fortunately, not much damage to his home on Vero Beach...
Glad your family made it though without any major damage. For us it was not bad either. We have regular summer storms that tend to be worse. FL got lucky.
Ha, my daughter said the same thing to my wife and I. She said their Summer storms can be worse, but that Hurricane did not come close to the SW side where she is. She's also 3 miles from the Gulf in a third story condo. Damn, it's pricey there..;)
Greetings from Pittsburgh. Looked at both. Went with the FJR. Evil Twin went with the lime green C14. Pretty much the same performance. More comfortable doing it on the FJR, though. Never really missed a sixth gear other than that absent-minded attempted shift into top gear when you're already in it. And that happens on 6-speeds, too.
I just purchased a new 2015 FJR1300 & should be getting it this week. I am having a hard time finding a mount for my GPS (1" ball type) that mounts lower between the bars ! I don't want the one that attaches to the reservoirs. What did you use ? Any suggestions from others for a mount ?
How many months and miles did you put on the machine before entering the review ? Hope it wasn't one of those one hour rides and now I'm an expert on these bikes.
She looks like one nice ride for sure. I know you will enjoy getting that airstream up and over you head a little more. Happy belated birthday my friend. Ride & fly safe!
Thanks Dave. Placed a taller windshield on it. Ordered Cree fog lights to increase my light exposure to the front. Soft bag coming for the tail. That's about all I'm going to do to it..;)
Yes, it's a fun bike and not too heavy and cumbersome. Placing fog lights and some bright accent lights on the sides for visibility. Will post another video soon.
Yep, I figured around 150. I made the mistake yesterday about it's top speed to my parents and sister and brother-in-law. Granted, they think I'm going to kill myself.. ;)

Came late to this video. Just bought an fjr. Very good review.
Great review thanks. I've just bought a 17ES, great bikes. take care

Yes, I tried out all the sport touring bikes and this seemed the most comfortable for me...
Great bike, picked up the exact same thing 2015, same color with 2000miles for 10,500. Love it..... one more thing, I turn 59 next month. :) ha

Thanks.. I'm still placing a couple more items on it. Will post a new video soon before the crappy weather sets in...

Yes, need to take it low and slow to get used to the power..;)
Nice video. What mount did you use for your Garmin, and what phone mount? Thanks.

There are so many fjr 1300 videos out there & every one loves the bike... Are you going to put aftermarket goodies on your bike?
Ha.. Yes, I already did. Video coming soon. I love the bike by the way!!!
the video is great! I must say now I must get the fjr. please keep up all updated on the goodies....
Yes, it's a fun bike without being too much like a crotch rocket.. ;)
Very nice buddy. I can see why you got it. Hope you have many safe and trouble free miles my friend.
Kinda like a sports car Dave. I'd not want to take this as my commuter vehicle in urban traffic. Just a fun bike..
Sweet! Hope you enjoy the new bike. Ride safe. :D

Like the Concourse, it's a sleeper when it comes to get up and go!
I actually looked at the Connie.. Man, I thought that was a beast and did not like my position on the bike. Both bikes haul ass though..;)
Greetings from Pittsburgh. Looked at both. Went with the FJR. Evil Twin went with the lime green C14. Pretty much the same performance. More comfortable doing it on the FJR, though. RamMount makes a replacement for the clutch/brake clamps. I'm quite happy with the 2-ball one. I can mount both my phone and a GPS.
Do dear whistles actually work? I'm in a suburb of Columbus and there's quite a few dear around where I ride too.
PapaP86 yes. But it’s illegal to cat call them now.
No they do not work!
How many months and miles did you put on the machine before entering the review ?
Hope it wasn't one of those one hour rides and now I'm an expert on these bikes.
Sound like more like something you would do!
I installed aftermarket bar raisers, I totally recomend it
That may come down the road. I can always place them back towards me. It will be the "long ride" that will help me make my decision. ;)
How did you mount that gps?
She looks like one nice ride for sure. I know you will enjoy getting that airstream up and over you head a little more. Happy belated birthday my friend. Ride & fly safe!
Thanks Dave. Placed a taller windshield on it. Ordered Cree fog lights to increase my light exposure to the front. Soft bag coming for the tail. That's about all I'm going to do to it..;)
I have the same bike, and so far so good.
Yes, it's a fun bike and not too heavy and cumbersome. Placing fog lights and some bright accent lights on the sides for visibility. Will post another video soon.
Really nice ride, by the way happy birthday
Thanks Bob.
What Garmin GPS are you using???
Garmin 2599. Nothing special. It does have traffic and lifetime updates. The only negative, it does not sync to my Sena..
MrPolymers Thanks. I'm looking for a replacement when my Garmin Zumo 550 dies but its been going strong since 2010....
Your Zumo is designed for a motorcycle. My Garmin is primarily for a car and is much less expensive.
OH! Happy birthday!! 8-)
Thanks Brian..;)
NICE!!!!!!! :)
Ha.. Not really designed to take a passenger in comfort though.. Of course, Mom won't ride on two wheels anyway. ;)
148 is top speed
Yep, I figured around 150. I made the mistake yesterday about it's top speed to my parents and sister and brother-in-law. Granted, they think I'm going to kill myself.. ;)
