Knowing how to properly execute a lane change is a critical driving skill. So is knowing how to properly stop and turn your car. This video shows you how these skills should be performed.

I totally blew it at parallel parking, ran a stop sign, and caught myself 5 over the speed limit twice and my instructor still passed me with an 84. There really is a god.

@Dawson I failed my first one cause I was in one of those narrow roads in urban areas where the parked cars make you feel cramped. I forgot that those weren't one lane roads and failed. Not even 10 minutes in.

I am taking my test tomorrow. I am SO nervous. I lost my sister at 13 to a speeding drunk driver, it happened right before my eyes, and as a result of that I have put off getting my license until now. I am 28 and years of stressing over this have built up to this moment. Ugh. I wish I didn't have to take it! :S I just hope I get a friendly examiner! :)

This series was completed two years ago (in 2010). It highlights major components of the drive test, but not every component.

+Anhelito Ten The trick is using your peripheral vision to split your attention two ways. It's tricky and something I've struggled to learn during my own practice over the last month, but it's doable.

youre looking for movement and color, not a license plate number, so over shoulder checks are super quick, don't try to focus on anything behind you just check and go
Watching these videos and having access you your practice test online have really helped me.The videos make it straight forward about what will be expected and seeing another person maneuver their car helps me a lot (I'm a visual person and prefer seeing videos and pictures). And the online test has given me a pretty good feel for the type of questions I will be asked to answer =) Thank you so much!
Taking my test tomorrow morning at 11am! So excited. I'm a little bit nervous and anxious, but it's a happy anxiousness more than anything. I have successfully passed two written exams (I had to convert my permit to another state) on the first try, and I've had my permit for a whole year. I'm pretty positive it'll be a piece of cake. I am a good driver. :)
Took a driving lesson today. It makes sense to look left, right and left again, and NOT just glance. I glanced left and right and a bus I didn't see the first time nearly crashed into us. Very important to look carefully

I failed the test my first time because of this same reason. I was told to switch lanes and the person behind me sped up and I slowed down before switching. I was immediately failed and on my paper the instructor wrote that I did a dangerous lane change. I was pissed but more disappointed than anything else. I have my second appointment coming up soon and I am so anxious.
I have one tomorrow too :D according to my sister, the test is extremely simple and straight forward, as long as you use common sense and have made these driving techniques a habit, you're fine. You can lose 19 points without failing, I think parallel parking is worth 5 points, I still can't do it perfectly every time, so it gives me hope I'll still pass even though I'm probably failing that part haha. remember if you break a law, you get an automatic fail. good luck!!!!!

This is great! One of my pet peeves with regard to driving is people who do not turn into the nearest lane at an intersection. Not only is it dangerous, but it also prevents others from being able to turn on a green light as they should be able to, delaying traffic flow.
I feel like I am ready to pass the road test this time. This will be my second time.

I took my test today at DMV bellingham Wa, I am sooooo surprised that I failed when I thought I got 100%, I mean that old woman tester even told me I was very careful driver but I didn't come to a full stop at some point. God knows I did every time!!! Oh and DMV just increased all the fees so I actually have to pay $35 for retake this time!!!! THAT's WHY!!

Just remember "up, up, and away" for how your wheels should be turned to rest on the curb for uphill parking.

muy advice to you is, get a car with the little round things in the side mirror. This shows your blind spot. Then check both your mirros and the blind spot part of the mirrors.

My test is September 1st and I’m beyond nervous. I’m currently pregnant with my son at 36wks and have a 2yr old daughter and I NEED to get my license. If I don’t pass I’m gonna be so sad

Adri2232 ugh you're so lucky! I don't think my instructor would be that kind. I live in Westchester County, New York so i doubt i would get away with that. And no i take mine in a few weeks. Trying so hard to have this parking in tact.

Search "blind spots of cars" on Google images. The usual blind spots are the ones close behind and right next to your car. You can't see them in your mirrors, so you're going to have to turn your head to make sure there are no cars in your blind spot when switching lanes.

I have a problem changing lanes in the freeway. Whenever I check my mirrors and over shoulder my car drifts of the lane. I forget to pay attention on the road and it's really dangerous. :( Any tips please?
