whoever makes theve vidoes doesnt know how to drive. At 7:21 its a solid white line aka bike lane. You are technically only allowed to get over when the line breaks
Common misconception for drivers. Unfortunately if you get it wrong and cut off a bicyclist you will automatically fail the test. See a student fail for exactly that reason in this video...

"Turn from the curb"
Under California Vehicle Code § 21209, motorists may not drive their motor vehicles in bicycle lanes, except where necessary to park where permitted, to enter or leave the roadway, or to prepare for a turn that is less than 200 feet from an intersection.
Explanation: You are allowed (and encouraged) to enter the SOLID white line bike lane between 50' and 200' before your turn. This allows any bicyclist that wants to continue straight to get on your drivers side as you turn right avoiding a "right hook" collision. If you wait to enter until the dashed line and cut off a bicyclist, you will automatically FAIL the test.
Agreed. First of all, they said that cutting off a cyclist is an automatic fail. There was no cyclist. Second of all, cutting into the bike lane over the solid white line illegally has a way higher chance of causing a bike to be cut off and/or being struck.

For anyone taking the test, once you begin the test, take in 5 deep breaths, watch your fears go away. You're gonna do better than you think. Do not carry with you an expectation of failure… but I will say if you make a mistake (like me) keep that “I’m gonna pass” mentality. Yes sirrrr!! Passed my test with two errors. I saw two people fail before my turn so got kinda nervous. Then I realized if I fail, I just wasted an hour in the DMV just waiting
For anyone taking test: Remember to look over your shoulder when merging into bike lane to make a turn or anytime you have to turn into bike lane to get to another lane. That is why I failed the test the first time. Treat bike lane like an actual lane. !!!!

I passed mine today
After 2 fails I finally got my license!🥳 It's pretty easy for the evaluator to fail you for simple mistakes so keep your head up if it happens. Failure doesn't necessarily mean you're a bad driver. Keep practicing and go at it again. You're bound to get someone who believes in you. But for me I took a step further by contacting a private license and professional dmv agent that helped me to write a provisional letter to bypass the test drive and i was given a provisional driver's license which will last for 12 months. I got a license now and it will serve for 1 year then I renew again.
My little advice.
* If you think are too nervous for the test drive then you can easily switch to a provisional driver's license which you won't need to test drive.
I never knew there were ways to go over these. Wait, isn't a provisional license the same as a permit?
@@aaliyahmay833 Of course not, a provisional license grant individuals more driving privileges and fewer restrictions than a permit allowing us to drive unsupervised but with certain conditions such as time restriction or limitation on the number of passengers.
I'm gonna be 27 and still don't have my license because my family always keeps me inside the house. Luckily I applied for jobs to find my way out of this cage. They only taught me to drive i neighbourhoods and shame me for not getting a license like my younger cousin who's mom is less strict. I'm tired of it and am tired of my life being drained, I want to take action for my own life and am doing it slowly but believe soon I can at least get my license and looking at your comment on this video gave me hope. How can I hire the licensed professional?

Its been a horrific process for me, i have failed thrice and not like i am proud of myself but i think sometimes the evaluators knowingly fail you so you could retake and it lines their pocket doing that. Speaking of which, i would love to know if getting the whole provisional license thing is legit because i would need you to point me in the direction of the professional.
I just passed my test with zero mistakes! MY ADVICE IS TO NOT GO OVER THE LINE ON THE STOP SIGN.
Traffic Checks- Make sure you are alert of your surroundings
ALWAYS ALWAYS LOOK OVER YOUR SHOULDERS WHEN CHANGING LANES.
Reversing- DO NOT LOOK IN REAR MIRROR, Look behind and right mirror.
SPEED LIMIT.

My advice, don’t speak unless spoken to. Not every instructor is this nice. Mine definitely wasn’t. When they get into the car just say “hello, how are you?” and not a peep after unless spoken to. When you are given a command, say it in your head. Then in your head say what you need to do to follow that command. Ex: “turn left on sunset”. In your head think “turn left on sunset so I need to turn my blinker on, slow down as I approach the turn, and make sure it’s safe to turn”. This helped me a lot so I didn’t forget any steps.

My instructor sounded mean initially (strong polish accent and was very direct). I picked up on the accent being eastern European and inquired more. After she told me she was from Poland, I pulled out any and all knowledge I had about Poland. I started talking to her about anything I knew about Poland and Polish culture etc, and kept talking to her about it. She became extremely warm and nice to me during the ride from then on. She passed me even though I made some mistakes like rolling through a stop sign. I would say it doesn't hurt to try to talk to your instructor, they're human after all. Just don't keep pushing if they aren't reciprocating.

Guys I failed my first test because I was anxious. Took my second one yesterday very confidently and passed. The key to passing is to stay confident and remember everything you know and were taught, you got this guys, you’re gonna get your license!!!

being on the road terrifies me so this is nice exposure therapy for when i get my full license
Best thing is to always stay alert on the road. I learned when I was a teenager by my old man that it doesn't matter how good you drive it takes one dickhead to either ruin your week or end your life. But like anything else the more practice you get the more comfortable you get also.

Today it was my test and it sucked, I was about to start by backing up from the parking spot and I checked my mirrors and there was nobody and as soon as I backed up a lady started to do so too, but I was focused on my left side so I bumped into her, she was really nice and apologized to me for that happening on my very first time and she gave me a hug, even the cop, but lmao I didn’t even get a chance to drive, got immediately disqualified, I felt so stupid lol

For anyone going to take their test, a few quick tips
Check your mirrors / over your shoulder
Signal your intentions(use your signals)
When the instructor tells you something, repeat back what they said to do so you're on the same page.
Instructor: "Make a left turn at the light"
You: "Okay, make a left turn at the light"

Did my test for the first time a couple days ago and failed, the instructor was rude and would give directions right before I had to execute them. When I asked for clarification he got flustered and started yelling. Hoping the next test I get an instructor like the one in this video, I know I'm being tested but at the same it doesn't help to stress someone who is already nervous and stressed. Hoping I get lucky with my next instructor!

that's what happened to me the first time I took the test man, her instructions were unclear and she sounded annoyed for no apparent reason which made me more nervous and fail the test, I also remember having the pass or not- I don't care attitude, not good. luckily, I took my second test last friday and I got a very chill examiner his instructions were clear and he even helped me feel calm and collected and I passed with 5 errors. you got this man!

Why do I even look at tears? What a good examiner, responsible, considerate and sensitive to the student's feelings. My examiner yelled and made exaggerated arm movements because there was a bump and I didn't slow down in time.

Just passed, you all got this. treat the instructor like a mom or dad, or gramp or gram whoever. It helps!
Tips: Know the speed limit (They ask you sometimes what the speed limit is, DO NOT guess), good following distance, good round turns, stop before the stop sign, say out loud: "Clear left, clear right" at a stop sign (some make you do it, some don't, they appreciate you doing that.
My biggest advice is be chill, because they do check on your driving behavior too to see if u are a nervous driver or calm. A nice test instructor would also help, unlike rude one.
I passed today and had 2 errors. Surprisingly during the test I wasn’t nervous at all in fact I was more nervous the night before. Whoever sees this you’ll pass trust me, just stay calm and breathe it really helps. Good luck.

@@samtrevor7441 Yeah, most difficult part of my test was dealing with high traffic intersections. Just follow the traffic laws and show your examiner that you have awareness of what's going on around you (move your head, instead of just glancing at the mirrors)

@@Jingleball7734 ok I heard some good new today about the test and apparently it’s a virtual test with cameras so it takes off some of the pressure of having a testing instructor in your vehicle
You’re nervous until your actually in the car. I took my drivers test a couple months ago and boy was I nervous. As soon as I was about 10 minutes into the drive, it felt like I had done it a million times. My driving instructor even told me he’d be comfortable enough to fall asleep while I was in the wheel. It’s all a mental game guys, you just have to over come it! Good luck to anyone who’s taking theirs soon!!!

I just passed my test on Wednesday! I was so nervous it was crazy, but I’m so grateful that I succeeded (this was my second time). I think one of the main reasons why I was so nervous was because I put so much pressure on myself to pass this exam. After all, I just turned 27 the day after my test, and I really wanted to get my DL for my birthday. Yes, I waited a long time to get my license, but I feel more comfortable and confident in my driving now than I did all those years of practice.

ugh congrats girl. i have it tmrrw and im terrified because while taking driving lessons my instructor always yells at me and says that i have no chance on passing it . so i am so freaking scared because i kinda know im not going to pass it but im going to try anyways.
I’m 29 and I’m taking my test tomorrow am. 😩 grew up in congested nyc cars aren’t needed and now look at me. I’m scared to drive but I now live in tx. Wish me luck 🍀
Took the behind the wheel test at the Compton DMV and passed 1st try with no mistakes. The instructor I had was very nice and never made me feel uncomfortable. Just be calm and drive as smooth and cautious as possible.
To everyone who has to take a test soon, I believe in you all and I think the hardest part is overcoming your nervousness. I’m a wreck myself but I thankfully passed last week and realized it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. Just get enough practice. Goodluck !

@@ompatel3487 yes i did. in my state, parallel parking is part of the first half of the test, which you have to pass before you can do the road test, which is why they don’t do it in the video

Sometimes it's the little things that get you, like when I drove over the inspector's foot as he was checking lights. This made him grumpy I could tell because he immediately told me to put out the weed I was smoking. So I bent down and stubbed it out on my shoe bottom causing me to pass a stopped school bus. I only hit one kid in a kind of glancing blow but the inspector had a bad attitude and I didn't pass. I guess it's the luck of the draw with which inspector you get. I'll try again in five years when I get out of jail.

Had my test last Thursday around 2:30pm and passed for the first time! The best advice is be calm, it's okay to be nervous as well. Don't think about getting your license, focus on the rules of the road and being safe - then you'll definitely pass. :)
