I watched a ton of theses and no one mentions that it is confidential unless they discuss self-harm, child abuse or harm to others, do you not mention that?

I have seen quite a few social work interview role plays and in my experience you don't start off by asking, "how are you?" because nine times out of ten the client feels like shit and that's why they've come to see a social worker. What else would he/she be feeling. Come on now. Also, where the relationship building? Get to know the client or build a client profile right at the beginning and establish trust and confidence between each other.
