Hey REM - Your trees look like they did just fine thru the heat wave. Lots of fruit!! I put all my young potted avos under shade cloth and also painted them a while ago, but will need to repaint due to all the new growth. I have 4 of the trees in 25 gal pots that I will put in-ground once the house remodel is completed. My 2 Oro Negro are about 7 feet tall in 15 gal pots, and are tolerating the heat and sun well, but my Jim Bacon is holding up the best in these summer conditions. Thanks for the video update - I gotta go get something to drink - nice pour!!
I have 2 GEMS in ground. One on G6 ( Maddock nursery) and the other on Toro Canyon ( Brokaw) The G6 is a beast of a tree and it’s semi loaded. The Brokaw Gem tree lost most of the fruitlets. It has a couple dozen. My Brokaw Carmen had alot of fruit set but lost most of them during the hot temperatures we’ve had here. Brokaw Reed had a couple dozen from last season. Now holding a few dozen. Stay hydrated.
Yeah, haven't noticed it suffering but it probably dropped the majority of the fruit because of the weird year and heat. The Kona is still a little sensitive though.
Thanks for the video. I just whitewashed a few exposed branches yesterday, 7/21. Numerous leaves are sunburned, so I'll deal with that with the Surround / Kaolin Clay. I'll probably have to put some type of sun protection over the smaller plants. Really happy with the set on my young Reed but the others still are not large enough for fruit setting. Etc. More watering this week. Thanks again.
My Carmen/Haas is doing pretty good with temps hitting excess of 100*-113* in the last 5 weeks, more than 17 days over 100* in NorCal(Sacramento). Haven't lost much foliage or fruit(first year of fruit!!!)6' patio umbrella to the rescue!
I can't believe how hot it got for you guys up north, I've always thought it got hot down here in SoCal but this heat wave got you guys more. Stay hydrated and I'm glad everything is ok. The umbrellas helped for sure, I've used a patio screen before too.
Hi My Gem did the same thing. Most of my other trees are holding their fruit but I am putting a shade cloth on them each day to make sure they don't drop anything.
Others are having a great year for Pinkerton also. Mine is so small but holding a lot of fruit too. This is the year of Pinkerton. Thanks for watching!
Trees are looking good REM. Hoping you do a taste test on that Don Gillogly next year. My Gwen lost a couple avocados to the heat but most of them are still hanging and my Sharwil is still holding on to all of its avocados so pretty happy about that.
My 4 year old reed is doing great lots of fruit and doing good in the hot heat. No leaf burn but my nobal isnt liking the hot weather ? Pinkerton is thirving but only one fruit at 3rd year in the ground .
Gem was disappointing huge fruit set than all dropped, first year in ground, my 2 lamb 50 who's each, , Jim bacon, 50 wurtz 200, reed 30-50, pinkerton 1, my 2 holiday 15, and other has 6, gwen has 15 fruits poncho has 3 ,
Welcome back! Great to see your avocado trees did well during the heat. That's a nice looking Reed. Thanks for sharing!
Hi REM we’ve had some pretty extended heat waves up here in NorCal. Extra heavy daily watering prevented significant fruit drop

I'm so glad I got a Maddock GEM too, my 3 from la Verne are weak, maybe they'll make a run, who knows. Stay hydrated
The GEM seems pretty heat tolerant up here. Is it the same for you?

Yes, I went through many Kona Sharwils before I found one that is happy here.@AvocadoTalk

Hi Neal, 101 degrees yesterday and 99 today, stay hydrated and keep them going until it cools down then the growth will happen.

@@aprildesalvo9880 hi April, I hope you are doing well. I'm glad you at least got some fruit, this is the best part about growing avocados.
Nice looking fruits holding on your trees, my Pinkerton is the best tree holding fruit this year with over 200
Others are having a great year for Pinkerton also. Mine is so small but holding a lot of fruit too. This is the year of Pinkerton. Thanks for watching!
Told ya I want a Pinkerton 😊

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to put the Don G in the ground, I'd love to taste it first.
@@AvocadoTalk Thats great i haven’t seen much info on that variety
My GEM as yours, ok set but not spectacular, my Pinkerton is loaded, as Lamb, and JB.
I think this is the year of Pinkerton but I've heard you say that your Pinkerton has always produced. Great to hear. Mine is so little but loaded too.
My 4 year old reed is doing great lots of fruit and doing good in the hot heat. No leaf burn but my nobal isnt liking the hot weather ? Pinkerton is thirving but only one fruit at 3rd year in the ground .
I think my Nabal dropped all it's fruit also, on to next year at this point.
