I was able to get one of the Crosley RSD 3 turntables. The store I went to, however, was selling it for $70, and they only got two in. Some stores didn't get any of those record players period.
Hey this is Oliver. Really appreciate that you tried to get the Death Grips record! Super unfortunate that you didn’t get it though... The flippers has already made the price over 100 $, and with me being a student that probably means that I won’t get it. Hella unfortunate but oh well that’s the game...
Called almost all the record shops in nyc, walked about a mile in manhattan looking for the Pink Floyd “A Saucerful of Secrets” Mono reissue. Every single store had sold out in the morning (it was about 12 pm when i called) i spent about 3 hours looking for that record. And I ended up finding it at the record shop in the Times Square subway station. Definitely worth all the stress that day.
I went this year and i picked up "the black parade is dead!" By my chemical romance, "the fall" by gorillaz, and "bohemian rhapsody/im in live with my car" by queen.
I couldnt even get one of my favorite albums *(Trout Mask Replica)* because *1,* I got there at 9 am instead of 8 and for *2,* they were all sold out so I just decided to get "The Catherine Wheel Soundtrack" with "the white album (Beatles)" so it was a win/win situation...
I’m 14, and This was my first record store day that I went to, and I got to my store at 4am and waited for 3 hours till they opened, I was 11th in line, overall Record Store Day was pretty AWESOME!!! I had A TON of fun and bought some pretty cool albums!!!
I saw a very select few people walk out with a 3 inch turntable. I personally got the Lost In Translation and Gorillaz The Fall exclusives. Missed out on Death Grips and Captain Beefheart.
My Wife bought me a 3" record player for Christmas. She bought it on Amazon. You got the player and all four Charlie Brown Christmas records. I have it hooked up to my receiver, and it sounds GREAT. It's also cool to look at. :)

Brian Eno didn’t invent ambient music, he coined the term but it had been around for years with bands like Cluster, Tangerine Dream and Popal Vuh. After leaving Roxy Music Brian went to Germany to learn from the band Cluster. They recorded a few albums together. Hans-jochim Roedelius of Cluster is still alive and doing concerts. My best friend back in the day used to live right by the local train in Phoenix (the light rail) and there was a stop right by stinkweeds. We always used to hop on the train and look at records in stinkweeds, it was super fun.
"I didn't see those 3 inch record players displayed at either record shops." Pause this video on 3:33 and look at the orange box the guy is holding on the left side of the magnets. There it is ;)
Welcome to AZ! I’ve been watching your channel for quite sometime. Thanks for giving our local record shops some props. I’m not sure if you went to other record shops but I do recommend In Groove records and Record High, both are near downtown Phoenix. And if you are in the Far East Valley I would recommend Grace Records at San Tan Mall in Gilbert. Thanks for your videos, they are entertaining.
Missed opportunity to grab the half-speed remaster of On Land, which is excellent. Definitely a record that warrants being given the extra space of two discs. For RSD, I picked up the Blood on the Tracks test pressing, which was at the top of my list by far, as well as the Imagine raw mixes, X-Ray Spex comp, and Twin Peaks. Very happy!
Every time I go to my local shop it's record store day for me! No special day or incentives needed, I've been spinning for most of my life and still find great records in the used bins. Great video and I'm highly jelous of those Arizona record mega-stores!!
What I bought: pink floyd, the residents, the elvis, iggy pop, captain beefheart, and johnny thunders. these are all LPs, the last three of which are double LPs. The store I went to had a lot of the turdtables. They were selling extremely well. I'll bet they all sold that day.
Awesome vid man! Next time you’re in town, swing by Tracks in Wax just a block away from Stinkweeds. The In Groove is pretty cool too. Zia is definitely the place to be for RSD cause they get the most stuff. But these other smaller shops are worth a visit.
I live in Prescott as well and drove down to Phoenix to Zia's at Camelback. Of course I was there at 1:30am and made it second in line. Scored everything I was looking for.
Here in Zhermany, I noticed some releases, even though listed on RSD Germany’s website, arrived in minimal quantities (specially by artists more popular in the UK than over here). And... surprise! Some stores let you ORDER cause they’d be receiving more the following Monday coming from the UK. Now take THAT, record-store-ebayers!
You should come here to Albuquerque sometime and check out the Record Stores here (and also other cool stuff (like the food and scenery) out here too!)
I couldn't go in the morning like I had originally planned, but I managed to stop by Waterloo records 30 minutes before closing and picked up two out of the four RSD I was looking for. Also, I sent you a record called Cody by the band Joyce Manor and I forgot to leave a note, so this is me saying I sent the record and I hope you enjoyed listening to it!
I went the days before and after to avoid the maddening crowds. I picked up Reel Music by the Beatles, Who’s Greatest Hits and Best of Alan Parsons Project. Oh, also Small World from Huey Lewis & The News. Old school jams.
You were so smilin' when asking us to wait if you'll find the record for the danish guy, that made me though there would have a good news to come soon and then WTF you did not found it ??? I was like "WHAT?" XD
I wasn't able to pick everything I wanted since most of them would be an UK only release. But I did got to pick up The Specials - 10 commendmants 45 single, David Bowie - Pin-ups, Otis Redding - Just Do It One More Time, The Dream Syndicate - Wine & Roses, and lastly, Los Angeles Nuggets - Where The Action Is!
Other store recommendations for your next trip to PHX, record room: Dunlap and I17, tracks in wax: Central and Camelback, In Groove:. 36th St and Thomas
I love record store day, so I got up at 4 am (after less than 2 hours of sleep), and stood in line for 3 hours in the freezing cold at my local record store :O) I got what I wanted and a couple of extra records. They always throw in some free stuff for the lucky first people, and this year I got an album (vinyl off course) with a Danish band called "How Do I". You can follow along on what records I got on Record Store Day, on my Instagram JimmyRibi. Not all are posted yet :O) Fun fact: My local record store is the size of a small living room (about half the size of Stinkweeds) and get really crowded on RSD, but the atmosphere is phenomenal and the service is fantastic. Meteora is one of my favorite Linkin Park albums and I just had to have it. Unfortunately it wasn't available in Denmark, but found it in stock in the US so I ordered it. It wasn't too expensive. I picked up a lot of records at RSD e.g Greta van Fleet, Grand Master Flash, De Statt, Burnin Red Ivanhoe, BreakBot, Weezer, Dio, Blossoms and some other records.
After standing in line for 2 hours, I got most of what I wanted: Saucer Full Of Secrets by Pink Floyd, Born under a Bad Sign by Albert King, Procol Harum, and Think Pink by Twink. I wanted the Captain Beefheat album, but I got to the front of the line just in time to see both copies get sold. And then Tuesday night I opened Born Under A Bad Sign and put it on the turntable....and it plays “Whats The Frequency Kenneth?” 😣 If I didn’t have bad luck, Id have no luck at all. Turns out there was a batch that had The Best Of R.E.M discs instead of Born Under....oops. The store is collecting the mistakes, sending them back and the plant is pressing some new copies of Bad Sign, so it will be a couple of weeks. On the plus side, I got a sneak peak...I’ve never heard Orange Crush and Losing My Region sound that good before, whoever buys In Time, The best of R.E.M 1988-2003 when it’s released next month is in for a treat.
Hi Jarrett. I really like the topics and style of presentation of your videos. Watching them makes me feel as if a friend is sharing his love for and knowledge of music. The theme music is great! P. S.: I'll look out for Ambient. Perhaps you've heard the several 1970s David Bowie albums on which Brian Eno participated. "Heroes" stands out in my mind. Perhaps "Low" & "Lodger" too.
Didn't get to go to RSD 2019 which was really upsetting but family first and all that ... apparently. Just living vicariously through as many YT videos as possible!
Hey Jarrett, Great video, I only recommend checking out record store at opening hours. writing from Minneapolis. I went out at 4am and waited in line to get my favorites from this year. It's a totally different environment from what you showed if your intention on what it is like from another side. overall great video and love your show!
Over here in the UK, for RSD I picked up Captain Beefheart, Pink Floyd, Weezer - Teal, Thunder, Def Leppard & whilst shopping picked up a white vinyl of Matt Berry -Music for Innsomiacs.
I live right by Zia! It’s my go-to store for music and retro video games. I had no idea you’d be out here for RSD, but glad you were able to check it out. My goal was Green Day’s Live Woodstock record, but it was already sold out. I was pretty bummed about that, but I’ll have to find it online.
Hey Jarrett, great video bro. I really like how in depth you get in your videos. Makes me feel like I'm right there with you. Please do more videos showing us around your new city. Zia and Stinkweeds looked very cool. Do you still go to Trax Records? Also, have you ever thought about doing a meet-and-greet and create dig for you to meet your fans? Might be a cool way to meet your new Arizona vinyl nerds. Keep Spinning ✌
This year was technically my first Record Store Day. Got to Newbury Comics in White Plains, NY around 8AM when they opened. Wasn't too fond of their set up, but I managed to get a couple of RSD releases including the Star Trek (2009) soundtrack, Green Day's Live at Woodstock '94, and the one I actually came for, My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade is Dead. So, overall I was pretty satisfied. I saw a bunch of those Crosleys and actually considered getting one for kicks, but nah...
Me and my long time friend of over 20 years, Matt from Austin, Texas (btw-I live in Oxnard, CA) both missed RSD 2019 due to work schedules😟 and we both wanted the reissue of Green Jellÿ's-"Cereal Killer Soundtrack"...mainly cuz the original '93 pressings are just way too pricey for us. Plus we both grew up on that album as well as the comical claymation video-'Three Little Pigs', and we are both fans of GJ's second album '333' which, unfortunately, has yet to be released on a vinyl format...both Matt and I look forward to that glorious day! So anyway, needless to say this vinyl reissue of GJ had made the top of our list. We both assumed it was going to be sold out on RSD, or atleast on that weekend, at local record shops in both Austin and Ventura (closest city to Oxnard with record shops). My first thought was that maybe DISCOGS might have it in stock as both Matt and I tend to use that website as our online source for purchasing vinyl. Unfortunately, only RSD flippers had it for $50+ past the general retail value, so that wasn't really an option for either of us-back to plan A. On the 14th while each of us were at work (Matt-Facebook, Me-Trader Joe's), Matt called different shops in his area to check if GJ was available anywhere and every shop had the same response: "sorry, all sold out". At this point I realized that I was kinda the last hope in finding GJ for Matt and I in my area. On Monday morning (my day off) I first hit up SALZERS RECORDS in Ventura, CA cuz they open at 10am-the earliest of any record store in the area that I know of. If I have no luck there, my next stop would be GRADY'S RECORD REFUGE (also located in Ventura) since they open an hour later. For the record(no pun intended), these are my two favorite record shops in Ventura. Anyway, I arrive at SALZERS as they open and so far no luck in my search. I checked all the RSD racks and couldn't find GJ. At this point I figured I'd just browse around to see if by chance there's anything else I might want. About 15-20 minutes go by and I head to the check-out line to make my purchases (I actually found an ANTISECT record I've wanted for quite a while, so that definitely brightened my day a bit). While I'm there, I ask employee-John (who happened to be in one of my favorite local bands from the late '90s -The Missing 23rd) if there might be any copies left of the GJ record-I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. John tells me that 2 copies still remain on the shelf-apparently there were 2 other racks that I had missed completely-my day just became PERFECT!! 2 COPIES!?!? How perfect is that?!? Neither Matt nor I could believe this awesome luck!!! Needless to say those copies now reside in our collections today. Although I had missed the actual RSD 2019, I feel as if I still sorta got to experience it because of the luck I had with that GJ record on that day. Thanx John!! Thanx SALZERS!!
Wow. 3:15 Baby Shark Picture Disc. 3:30 Ghost World Soundtrack I love this film and I only watched It just a few days ago. I was In a little town called "Romsey" In the south of the UK. And I went Into a little Record Shop called "One Hundred Records" they had at least 10 copy's of all 480 Record Store Day releases. They were coming from as far as Liverpool and London because Like Jarrett here They could not get what they wanted There. It was a Great Day, They had 6 Staff doing the Selling and One was going through the Lists and crossing off the ones sold. Then when that Particular one sold out He ran It through with a Red Marker. It was Strict One Person One Copy of each. No E-Bay Rip Off Merchants that day. They Did Refuse one guy I suspect they Knew He was one.
I went to Roadrunner Records in Minneapolis. Got in line at 8 AM and I got: Trout Mask Replica - Captain Beefheart The Guitar World According to Frank Zappa Sly and the Family Stone Woodstock Machu Picchu - Tangerine Dream A Saucerful of Secrets Mono - Pink Floyd Rockfield Studio Tracks - Joe Strummer I hit up a total of 6 stores! Great day with my buddy and I cannot wait for next year!
Jared: Stinkweeds was a tiny space, I'm surprised by how much they fit My Dutch ass: that's.. literally the size of every record store in The Netherlands, I am upset..
I HAD to have Greta Van Fleet - From the Fires, the first time on vinyl limited to 7000 copies. I also picked up The Doors (Band from Venice) a limited edition of 11,000 on a 10 inch vinyl. I also picked up three used live double LPs. Crosby, Stills Nash & Young - 4 Way Street, Dave Mason - Certified Live and Steppenwolf Live.
Hey man, nice channel. I’m in Mexico City. I got “Lost in Translation,” “Fleetwood Mac: Alternate,” Madonna: “La Isla Bonita,” Madonna: “True Blue,” Louis Armstrong: Disney songs, Twin Peaks : Season 2 and the score for Hitchcock’s “Spellbound” so pretty successful RSD 🤗
I picked up 10 records...here goes... Associates-Club Country Blancmange-Living on the ceiling Duran Duran-As the lights go down Heaven 17-Bigger than America Jean-Michelle Jarre-tale of us Japan-Life in Tokyo Propaganda-the eight testaments of propaganda Simple Minds-Graffiti soul Toyah-in the court of the crimson queen Yazoo-reconnected That was all in the uk. If you were taking requests I’d have asked you to pick up the Devo box set and The B-52s Mesopotamia....but I expect they are all long gone by now.
Hey Jarrett, you may also list all mentioned vinyl records in the video description, not only your vinyl gear list. I'm always look for great suggestions of new new records, bands and music. I can find them in your videos. But, it's not easy by now to get a list except scrolling back until to find them when watching again.
Went to two locations in Tucson Zia's. And yes I did buy one of the RSD3s. Very kitsch but everyone seems to be cool with it. And it has an Audio Tecnica stylus on it so not completely cheap. So where do you live that allows you to make the drive to Phoenix? Love the channel.
april is basicaly hobby month for me, national coin week and record store day! Thats a lot of cool stuff you got! Nebraska is a nice state btw.... the weather isnt the best tho... lol
I got two RSD releases - the John Lennon album and Billy Joel. A few more that I was interested in but they were gone before I made it through the line. But I took advantage of the sale my local record store was having and got a Johnny Cash Folsom prison album, Dave Brubeck Quartet Jazz at the College of the Pacific, Bob Dylan Planet Waves, Journey Infinity and Steely Dan Aja.
Sweet of you to try and find a record to give someone. VCLT is what makes the vc a wonderful place. I recently couldn't find greta van fleet album. Someone got me it.
I picked up a few of my favorite records this year. Fleet Foxes self titled, Strange Trails by Lord Huron, For Emma, Forever Ago by Bon Iver, and my all time favorite David Bowie song "Heroes" as a single. Overall, a great record store day :)
Unfortunatly there was no Record Store in my town wich joined in the RSD and because of my 1y old daughter I couldn't went to Hamburg. BUT: I ordered the LP "Sphere" from the Band Monkey3, woch was released on April 12th and arrived me on RSD. Really good Instrumental-Rock. You will like it as a Tool-Fan. Promise.
Bought one of the 3” Record players. It came with a Foo Fighters song, and I got Sukiyaki. I hope they come out with more. I heard they’re gonna release about one a month. Great little novelty thing.
Hi Jerrett, I’m from Phoenix and also went to zia for record store day, I picked up The Black Parade Is Dead by My Chemical Romance, B Sides by Beartooth and Woodstock 1994 by Greenday!
I snagged everything I was after at the one shop I went to. The Coneheads soundtrack, Green Jelly's Cereal Killer, Prince's Versace Experience cassette and the Ninja Turtles' Pizza Power 7". RSD is a blast when you get what you came for. :)
I went the pretentious route and picked up Serge Gainsborough because A: I like his music and B: I could come into the store after the crowds were gone and his album would still be there. I live in Western PA and NOBODY in this area knows who Gainsborough was. Nice transparent green vinyl with black swirls.
Hey friends, Hope y'all liked the video! Did you go to RSD 2019? Let me know what you picked up in the comments! 😄✌️
It was great this year
It was amazing and also AMAZINGLY expensive!

P. S.: I'll look out for Ambient. Perhaps you've heard the several 1970s David Bowie albums on which Brian Eno participated. "Heroes" stands out in my mind. Perhaps "Low" & "Lodger" too.
I got the 50th anniversary edition of. Woodstock. It's in mono and it sounds amazing.
Me too, listening to it now :-)
Didn't get to go to RSD 2019 which was really upsetting but family first and all that ... apparently. Just living vicariously through as many YT videos as possible!
My mans, next time u go to Phoenix u HAVE to go to the ‘in’ groove, hands down the best record store in all of Phoenix
I own a 3" record player.....and love it.
I saw the miniature Crosley player, and I saw one person buy it, but not sure if anyone else bought the others
Hey Jarrett, Great video, I only recommend checking out record store at opening hours. writing from Minneapolis. I went out at 4am and waited in line to get my favorites from this year. It's a totally different environment from what you showed if your intention on what it is like from another side. overall great video and love your show!
New Slang by The Shins. It’s very calm and it’s also enjoyable to listen to.
Great video as always! Enjoy it.
RSD...oh you mean ebay day;-)
I also bought my mom the bohemian Rhapsody purple and gold single, she's been a hug queen fan since they were still around!
Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio is pure happiness.
DUDE I LOVE ZIAS I MISS IT SO MUCH
I picked up the Townes Van Zandt album on beautiful tiger eye vinyl. Amazing stuff!
“HIS FAVORITE ALBUM STEROIDS BY DEATH GRIPS”
I went to Roadrunner Records in Minneapolis. Got in line at 8 AM and I got:
Trout Mask Replica - Captain Beefheart
The Guitar World According to Frank Zappa
Sly and the Family Stone Woodstock

Jared: Stinkweeds was a tiny space, I'm surprised by how much they fit
My Dutch ass: that's.. literally the size of every record store in The Netherlands, I am upset..

That was all in the uk.
Nebraska is a nice state btw.... the weather isnt the best tho... lol
I ate at that In-N-Out Burger in Tempe when I was in the Phoenix area for a business trip back in October 2017!
I bought that Camaro Cruise album after your video. It is awesome! Thanks for the recommendation.
Glad you like it! 😄
Symphony of destruction-megadeath
Sweet of you to try and find a record to give someone. VCLT is what makes the vc a wonderful place. I recently couldn't find greta van fleet album. Someone got me it.
I picked up a few of my favorite records this year. Fleet Foxes self titled, Strange Trails by Lord Huron, For Emma, Forever Ago by Bon Iver, and my all time favorite David Bowie song "Heroes" as a single. Overall, a great record store day :)
Nice! 👍
Promise.
Animal by Def Leppard
Missed what would've been my first RSD because of my sister's baby shower.
Show Must Go On- Queen
Jared, loved the video! I took part in my first RSD this year and picked up the Green Day Live at Woodstock '94. Great album :)
Bought one of the 3” Record players. It came with a Foo Fighters song, and I got Sukiyaki. I hope they come out with more. I heard they’re gonna release about one a month. Great little novelty thing.
Bro that in n out made me hungry
Hi Jerrett, I’m from Phoenix and also went to zia for record store day, I picked up The Black Parade Is Dead by My Chemical Romance, B Sides by Beartooth and Woodstock 1994 by Greenday!
6:58 my guy tried so hard to not laugh while saying "Stink weeds"
I snagged everything I was after at the one shop I went to. The Coneheads soundtrack, Green Jelly's Cereal Killer, Prince's Versace Experience cassette and the Ninja Turtles' Pizza Power 7". RSD is a blast when you get what you came for. :)
Tightrope - Electric Light Orchestra
Klaatu - Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft
I went the pretentious route and picked up Serge Gainsborough because A: I like his music and B: I could come into the store after the crowds were gone and his album would still be there. I live in Western PA and NOBODY in this area knows who Gainsborough was. Nice transparent green vinyl with black swirls.
I got the 3" player and all four of the TMR 3" records that they released for RSD!
