Be happy with what you got, man. I wish there were any record stores NEARLY as big as Amoeba in my country. We don't even get the interesting stuff on Record Store day here. :D
+timmy41 aww sorry about that! Yeah Amoeba is truly awesome and it's not normally that full of people. Usually on weekdays it's totally fine and little to no lines haha. Hopefully some cool shops will pop up in your country soon!
I live in St. Louis, and I got to our best store, Vintage Vinyl, at just before 9am. The lines weren't too bad, and the store gave out tote bags, t-shirts, and some free local concert tickets to the crowd (mostly local cover bands). They also had live music playing outside by several local bands, and well known local DJs spinning records inside to entertain the crowds. Free gourmet donuts and local craft beer was also available throughout the day. The store opened at 10am, and I was in and out of the store in just over an hour. My Record Store Day haul! The Art Pepper Quartet pressed on clear vinyl in a numbered jacket. Cheap Trick, The Epic Archive Vol. 1 (1975-1979), Limited Edition of 2200 on yellow vinyl. Sting, Live At Bataclan. The Time, What Time Is It? Limited Edition of 5500 on green vinyl. Then I drove across town to a local hole the the wall record shop closer to home, CD/Music Réunion, and managed to find one remaining copy of Robert Johnson The Centennial Collection (The Complete Recordings).
I went to my local store in Los Angeles and probably got there around 6am in line. I would say I was about 20 people back. Our store kinda does what Amoeba would do as far as asking for a list of records you want, but what the owner does first is ask for your TOP pick first and tells you if they have it or not. If they have it, they will set it aside and you are guaranteed to get it. Once he makes his way down the line collecting everyone's top pick, he comes back and grabs your other picks. If they have them, they will be bagged at the counter for pickup. Extremely well organized. Warner Music came by and gave everyone ice cream and a comp CDs for free of their current artists. I got all of my picks so I was happy. I got the newly mixed Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane single. I got the McCartney cassette demos, Elton John 17-11-70, The Cure Acoustic Hits, Fleetwood Mac Alternative Mirage, Ramones Singles Box, The Claypool Lennon Delirium, The Zombies A Rose for Emily single, and the Star Wars 10" record. Also a bunch of RSD stickers, tote bag and another CD comp. Overall great experience and well organized.
I attended RSD here in Houston at a record store called Cactus Music.Arrived there at 7am while.doors open at 10 am.Always had great experiences dealing with this shop, friendly staff all the time.Ended up getting everything I wanted =Both cure picture discs and the 7 inch from the smiths. Great score considering this is my first RSD!
It would seem not going to the most popular record store in the world may have increased your chances to get those records, based off what I'm reading in the comments :)
Record Story Day was really anti-climatic for me because I wanted the Cure's greatest Hits and some eBay flipper snatched them up. I wound up getting Jane's Addiction 'Been Caught Stealing' out of the whole thing.
I don't even remember what time we left, but the store we went to was 45 minutes away and it wasn't too crowded. We went to Bullmoose in Scarborough (just outside of Portland) which if you didn't know, is where Record Store Day originally started. Only certain things were on sale at all, and they were all at a table on the front. I didn't find anything good so I decided just to buy a normal record or two. I picked out Peter Gabriel "Us", a special 180 gram record at 45rpm so it's two discs, and obviously, Bowie's ep "No Plan." When I got to the deal and tried using my Giftcards, apparently, they were empty or didn't work, so I had nothing, no money in my wallet (I'm 15 still without a job, and I had bought a special repressing of Peter Gabriel's self titled 3 "Melt" a few days before, also 180 gram and playing at 45 rpm.) My sister said she would buy me one of the records so I obviously chose the limited edition Blue, Marbled, and etched Bowie ep, and paid her back later. It wasn't great, but it didn't end up being a terrible day either!
I went to a record shop about 45 minutes away from me, and had to wait in line for about an hour. Despite this, I still was able to get all the records I was looking for. Thanks for the great video man, and hope you have better luck next year!!! :)
I live in Sheffield, England. So my local record store is 'Record Collector' and it always gets the best exclusives. Plus I got there about 7 in the morning and the Que was only about 20 people at that point. I went a little overboard and went over budget, but it was worth it. I got ... *1. The Def Leppard E.P.* I'm from Sheffield, so naturally, I have to be a big Def Lep' fan. *2. Elastica.* discovered them via a show called Trigger Happy TV who used the track 'Connection' as their theme tune. *3. The Cure Greatest hits.* I was introduced to The Cure via this compilation when I was 12, love all these tracks. *4. The Cure Acoustic hits.* Everyone I spoke to was after this one, so I got it on impulse at the counter. *5. Motown Funk 22 Pipin' Hot Funk Joints.* I always get a compilation on record store day and this one caught my eye. I also got my sister the pink single of Aqua's 'Barbie girl' at the counter saying *"It's for my sister, I swear"*
I work at a record store in Germany and we participated in RSD for the second time. It was crazy and people were lining up as well, but nowhere even near as many as in LA of course. But because I work at a record store day I was able to get almost all the items I wanted. I picked up The Cure "Acoustic Hits", Bowie's "Cracked Actor", "No Plan EP", "BowPro" and the 12" PD with Placebo (huge Bowie fan here) as well as Aqua's bubble-gum pink translucent 7" of "Barbie Girl" and a 10"! from "La Düsseldorf". I don't know which of these were EU only releases, however.
Basic RSD-events for Finland: >listings first pop up around the start of the year "Wow, these actually look cool, I hope we get that, and that, and that..." >day of RSD >one crate in the middle of the store, the one 10-inch everyone wanted is already gone, now left with picture-7"s and compilations no-one even smirks at
My local record store is actually down the street so I got there at 6:30 am and was 11th in line. Got the Son House album and the Robert Johnson album that no one seemed to want.
I’m from the UK & I was on the Guardian Website that year as I started lining up at 11pm the night before. It was a Record Store with Cafe. The Cafe opened at 5am so we could come inside, use the toilet & have some coffee. I was 2nd in line.
Wow! I still can't believe how long the line was and it's bummer that they didn't have anything left on your list. I arrived late at Houston's largest store and the line was reasonable which I documented in a video. I really wish the Houston stores would adopt that menu approach but I don't they they are staffed to support it like Amoeba.
it's the first we had record store day here in the Philippines, and everyone had fun, party all night because of live bands performing. I got the Fra Lippo Lippi Songs promo copy album.
Hi from Australia! I think I got pretty lucky this year. I went to my favourite record store which was opening that day for 24 HOURS! They opened at midnight and I got there about 9:30 am. I was so happy to find the Pink Floyd picture disc, the Interstellar Overdrive vinyl, the BOWPROMO and Ben Folds and WASO Live in Perth. I was a little bummed that I didn't find the Beatles Strawberry Fields single or the Toto Africa picture disc, but I really was lucky to have even gotten the ones I did. I went to another store with loads of second hand vinyl and got lots there (a Beatles Flexi disc single too!)
I got to my record shop at 11am...picked up the Smiths "Boy w/ a Thorn and Prince pic disc singles on RSD. Just a couple days ago (month after RSD) I revisited the same shop and they got more shipments of what I was really looking for!! The Cure Greatest Hits double pic disc...snagged it up!
Don't waste your time at Amoeba, too crowded. I go to my local shop in Orange County, Port Of Sound, Costa Mesa. Awesome shop. They opened at 5:30 am, got there at 3am. Got everything I wanted. They had everything you wanted, too.
got at my local record store at 6am and was about 13th in line. and I got everything I wanted. like The Doors, The Beatles, Bowie live in LA, sex pistols, pearl jam, the smiths, and Jimmy page +black crowes. pretty good for my first record store day!
That place literally looks like heaven :O Glad you salvaged the day with some Nirvana & T2! & apologies on behalf of all Brits for the 'charisma couple' not wanting a picture! Keep up the awesome work dude.
I got to my store around 3 am and was 11th in line. Luckily I got everything i wanted. This was the first year I went to two stores as well. At the first store I got the Space Jam, Marcy Playground, The Offspring, the Pearl Jam 7", and the Alice In Chains double 7". At the other store I got the Tegan and Sara side by side release which I was surprised was still available at the time I went in the afternoon.
I didn't know there was such a day so thanks for the heads up when you initially announced it....My town in WA state has two record stores and they were participating and it was so fun. I found some records that I wanted and didn't know I was going to find so that was really cool....I found Phoebe Snow, which I really wanted, and a few others. Bummer you didn't get your list but I'm sure you can find them all somewhere!
I went to Greville Records in Melbourne at about 9am when they were opening. There was maybe 6 people waiting and I got in and grabbed the Bowie RSD releases. I'd definitely recommend going to a small store on RSD, they should stock the same stuff as large stores
I got about 5 hours sleep before heading to the local shop that opened at 6am. I grabbed the Batdance and Partyman Prince 12" repressings, the 7" Prince picture disc and the Blind Mr. Jones set. Had I had more money, I would've grabbed a lot more stuff, like that Germs 7" and the Coheed & Cambria IV set. Vinyl is an expensive addiction. :)
Man, my record store let everyone in at the same time. It's a very small store and the place was packed...like, literally wall to wall. I was looking for the Alice in Chains release, but there was only one left and I let my friend pick it up. I ended up with that Star Wars vinyl as a consolation. I was pretty happy with that. I hope that next year there's a better system than just letting everyone in at the same time in a free for all.
On RSD, I went to Lunchbox Records in Charlotte, NC. I waited in line with a 2 people a little younger than I am & had a nice chat with them (and watched 1 or 2 of your videos to pass the time). So, what did I get? I got the following: Etta James At Last, Elton John 17-11-70+, the full recording of Interstellar Overdrive by Pink Floyd, Doctor Who and the Pescatons (and the show's Sound Effects on the other side), the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, the Star Wars soundtrack (not the 10 inch), the Space Jam soundtrack, & finally an EP called Little Mess by Grouplove (which one of the 2 folks I waited for recommended). That day made all my mandatory overtime work at Amazon totally worthwhile!
Got to my local store around 4:30AM... They had nearly everything on my list and i was able to get them all! The Doors Live at the Matrix, Jimmy Page/Black Crowes live 10", Pink Floyd's Interstellar Overdrive, the overrated Beatles 45 repress, among some others. Overall happy with my first RSD experience!
Yup! I hit Shangrala records in Memphis, TN. Got the two Cure greatest hits albums and SRV Carnegie Hall album. A bit bummed that one of the Cure albums had a pressing defect but only on one song. Could be worse and I am still happy to own it.
Went to my local record store very late for RSD so all the RSD releases were gone, but they were having a 50% off sale on all used LPs. I managed to score some very limited releases hidden within all the junk for about half of the discogs going prices. I was very satisfied.
I attended Record Store Day at The Attic in Pittsburgh. There was a line when I got there at 7am, but by the time they opened at 8am I was at about the middle of the line. I got everything I was looking for and even passed on some things because I was going to spend too much money! Sorry Jarrett, I did score the Star Wars 10 inch...
Great video as always, sir! It sucks you didn't get the Star Wars 10 inch and the Santana Woodstock LP, they are AWESOME! For my story girlfriend and I made our way to Tunes in Hoboken, NJ for our very first RSD ever, got there 10 minutes before it opened and was able to get the following: Star Wars 10 Inch single (on a whim, my gf found it and showed me. I had to get it!) Santana Live at Woodstock David Bowie Cracked Actor (my main want!) Prince Partyman 12 inch single (last one too, I had to swoop around someone like Indiana Jones to get it.) The Def Leppard EP (a MAJOR want!) The Beatles Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane Double A Side single (an impulse buy, but it's my favorite band and my favorite song by them. I had to get it.) Venom At War With Satan picture disc (Total surprise, needed to have it. AWESOME album.) My girlfriend got the Sia Spotify Sessions LP. I missed out on Stevie Ray Vaughan's live album and the Hawkwind Best of LP, but over all I'd call it a success. I felt lucky to not lose out to scalpers!
Update: As of the time of writing, Jarrett has since gotten a copy of Santana: Live at Woodstock thanks to a donation from an Instagram account named Mionyl. Look up the “Shiny New Records” video for more information.
I picked up only four vinyl records (which is nothing in comparison to many of the people there). The records I picked up were What's Going On, Unknown Pleasures, The Bends and The Suburbs. I guess I'll make sure I prepare more for next year.
The store that I went to was pretty quiet, so I managed to pick up the Cure's acoustic hits picture disc, and the Smiths' newly released single for the boy with the thorn in his side among others
Sounds like your record store day was like mine.. I slept in and got to one of my local stores late. Sold out every thing I wanted. Picked up Alice in Chains double 45. Hit store number 2.. sold out of everything but did pick up the cure picture disc greatest hits. Hit store 3.. sold out but did get the star wars 10 inch ( which they had a ton of copies still at 4pm) This year the crowds were so much worse. New vinyl fans making stuff harder to find for us old die hards.
you know what, I walked in a record store here in ottawa today and sitting on the shelf were two copies of the star wars 10 inch from record store day that no one was buying lol.
I got down to my local store at 6:30am for it opening at 8am. The queueing system wasn't as good as yours. It consisted of walking into the store 1 after the other and asking for each record one at a time. Meaning the one fella serving would be walking around looking for each one and giving them to another guy who took it to the counter. Very slow to be fair. I got served at 9:30am and I was about 40 in the queue. By that time most of my selections had gone and all left on my list was Halestorm and the Moana Picture Disc for my daughter. Managed to get The Cribs record later on by phoning a store in London.
Got 2 Emipre Records in St Albans UK @ around 7:30 (they opened @ 8) & was about 50th in line. Missed out on a few things that I wanted (Bowie No Plan, Blade Runner, Toto), but got the Slick Rick book/vinyl, the Sharon Jones picture-frame 7", & What Time Is It? by The Time on green vinyl. Got hold of the André 3000 7" from ebay a few days L8er 4 a good price, but my favorite (which I also got from ebay this week) was the 12 Stone Toddler double-album picture disc.
I sadly didn't get any records as I'm quite new to the scene however I did install my vinyl player on that day. I got these giant speakers just sitting around my room and stole a couple vinyls i liked off my dad!!
I had a great record store day overall I got the pearl jam state of love and trust 7 inch the prince little red corvette 7 inch and the beatles strawberry fields forever 7 inch. Then I managed to get the red hot chilli pepers live picture disc and the Nirvanna secret songs the unreleased album as well. Then lastly I got bangerz pink 2lp by miley cyrus and sia spotify sessions. It was an awesome record store day I go to music millenium in portland and arrived at about 5 they are super awesome and give us gift bags with all sorts of random 7 inches and unopened cds which are always fun to listen to good or bad. Thanks dude I enjoy watching your channel!
Record Store Day happened to fall on the same day as my daughter's birthday party. I got to Rasputin's at 9:30, (They open at 11) only to find a line of about 20 people who all seemed to know each other. They were organizing who was going to get what. I assumed they were resellers by their conversations. I got discouraged and left. Next year I will check the date for RSD before planning my daughter's party.
I was planning on going to rough trade east in London and was gona aim to get there at 4am. but some family stuff happened and I just couldn't go. the one thing I really wanted was the ramones singles box set. I asked a friend in a different city who I knew was going to grab me a copy if they had any left but sadly his record store was sold out. but I kept an eye on eBay that day and managed to get a copy for £10 over retail which is how much I would if spent on travel anyway. in the end it saved me spending too much and since I've discovered some records I overlooked and will be trying to get online cheaply as I don't think they sold too well and aren't massive profit for flippers
I couldn't make it for this year's RSD in Jakarta Indonesia (cause something cropped up at the last minute). Kinda bumped about it but well that's life! At least you had fun at RSD Jarret :D It's a dream of mine to go to Amoeba one fine day!
Wow that's crazy! We had a long line in Montreal too, but I think the wait was at most 45 minutes. Got some pretty sweet deals too, even if we only showed up about 30 minutes before opening :)
Thats interesting that the star wars 10'' sold out. In my store they sold almost none. They sat around for days until they sold them to another store. I got to my store at 945 am and the store opened at 8. Got most of what I wanted which is nice. The stuff that sold fast here was any of the psych rock stuff and hip hop. As well as blues records. I had to be laser fast to get those.
Holland is so small I literally went to the first city at 9am and went through the whole country to find everything. Also it's not that busy there are max 15 people queueing at the biggest shops and shops open earlier, often around 8am. Unfortunately watching all those American RSD videos I got so jealous, there were a lot of things that weren't even released in Holland :(
I didn't get much sleep the night before but got to my local record store at 5:30. I got some of the records I wanted but the special shape record of Africa by Toto was sold out.
Wasn't interested in any of the exclusive titles enough to camp out or get up early for them this year. Last year, however, I kinda forgot about it, and I went late at night to check out what was left, and to my surprise, the Venom picture disc was all I wanted and the store had the only copy.
I attended RSD but bought none of the feature products. I haven't bought RSD albums in past years either. Instead, I bought a great used album by the Savage Rose. That made my RSD perfect! Also, I did not have to stand in line.
My record store opened at 10AM. I was the seventh person in line when I arrived at 3AM. It was rainy and cold. I also had to work later that day. I was stupid tired but I don't regret it. I got all but one of the records I wanted.
I would love to do RSD at Amoeba, I was there the week before and got some good scores. I did RSD in Phoenix and got in line at 3:30am and was second in line, the next person didn't show up until 5:30. Got everything on my wish list except for the Sire 50th Anniversary.
Hey, I just got my first turntable today and my first record was Nirvana nevermind what a coincidence! I am so happy to have joined the vinyl community
Just discovered your channel, love it!! You do remind me somewhat of theneedledrop in your presentation and that's okay. You're very pleasant and soothing to listen to and so far the music you've presented is mostly right up my alley. I like seeing younger people being enthusiastic about music that resonates with me, as well.
I really wanted the toto Africa single but didn't get it. However I did get almost everything I wanted. The store I went to in Minnesota was a sister store of the main one just south of where I live. The main one had over 100 people in line. Whereas mine only had like five ahead of me.
The stores I checked for the Johnny Guitar Watson exclusives didn't have them. Thanks to good ole Amoeba, I found the last copies they had online! Tell em I said thanks!😉😉
HI Jarrett. In the UK It was freezing on the night time. And In the early Hours of the morning It Snowed a lot. I got the only one I wanted. And that was the Aqua - Barbie Girl Pink 12" the others You mentioned were there but that one was the only one for Me. Wish We had a Store like Ameba here In the UK. Looks fabulous. Sorry You didn't get the ones You wanted but there Is always E-Bay. Grit the Teeth and press "Buy It Now". Keep the Video's coming.
My RSD was pretty good and I got most of the stuff I wanted. Dude. Yes. Sleep. Is way important I closed up early the night before and got there at 4:30am. Hung out with this cool Austin chick who was a huge music fan and had a ton of concert stories (she's a long time venue volunteer by trade.) I got Marcy Playground. Super Furry Animals. (Digging that 90's) psych) Bill Evans Trio. The Blade Runner picture disc and the Beatles Penny Lane / Strawberry fields. Space Jam was the go to this year but they ran out quick. I seriously wish you the best of luck and a good nights sleep next year. Keep spinning.
Was able to get Star Wars, bowie, the Beatles SFF/PL 7inch and prince picture disc. Got there around 5:30am and got everything I wanted except Pink Floyd interstellar overdrive which sold out quick. I'm at 1:05 surprised I came out in your vid
I'm sorry that you weren't able to get anything you wanted. Next year come out to Southwest Florida, there are a bunch of tiny independent record stores and no line for record store day.
We got there at 2:30 AM and there were already tons of people, but luckily I got everything on my list :D Im probably going to get there at like 12 or 1 next year :D
my local record store had a small selection of RSD2017 labels. I was 35th in line approx and majority of my RSD wants were gone. I ended up with Dogfish heads Songs to drink Beer to.
Do you go to RSD Black Friday, too? I've never done that, but I'd like to this year. After Memorial Day, it's a slippery downward spiral to Thanksgiving.
Why the long lines? Are there some discounts or what? I live in Europe and never heard of this Record Store Day. I mean, they apparently are selling new records. Aren't those records normally found on any record store, without having to wait in line, etc.?
I picked up The Def Leppard EP and Halestorm Reanimated 3.0 picture disc
+MetalJesusRocks nice! I'm glad you got what you wanted dude! 😄
MetalJesusRocks The legend himself is here! ☺
Vinyl Eyezz your right about the sun your so pale lol just kidding
Cool song - cool artists
MetalJesusRocks dude this comment is in like every single vinyl eyezz vid of 2018
Man, I'm watching this again 5 years later and I just feel so nostalgic

Many years ago my mother took a record (Simple Mind) at the back of her car.
The sun shined very strong......
I showed up the second the store opened and was like the first one there
That's a bummer Jarrett. But hey, you walked out with some great stuff and had a fun day and that's what record store day is all about :)
+Colin Joe van der Bij for sure! I did have fun taking in the whole experience and especially talking with other music nerds like myself lol.
I got to my local record store about 10 min. after they opened, but I found Santana Live at Woodstock so I was happy.
+Blake L awesome!

Vinyl Eyezz Thanks. Good on you for at least getting something else you wanted.
good music for cooking BBQ... i need more dusty blues in my collection
XO Dosia J.G.S. Good for many occasions
I got the Fra Lippo Lippi Songs promo copy album.
amazing idea this is exaxtly what every recordstore owner lover .. people with fresh butterd hands
Record day = Inventory clear out day
The rest, you're overpaying for.
i enjoy your show i like classic rock,80 and disco AND i do like 8 tracks i had a sound of it owns THANK YOU.
Eyy that's me super shortly at 2:30 and FEATURED AT 5:07 JARRETT I DID NOT EXPECT THIS OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!! 😝😝 happy listening!
+Milesdaguy :-D no problem dude!
+ze-man 22 that's awesome! My kinda shop haha 😄
got at my local record store at 6am and was about 13th in line. and I got everything I wanted. like The Doors, The Beatles, Bowie live in LA, sex pistols, pearl jam, the smiths, and Jimmy page +black crowes. pretty good for my first record store day!
I got to my record shop around 1 hour after they opened and I found 10 copies of Santana live at Woodstock!
At my local Rasputin Music store, it wasn't that busy. I bought a couple CDs and Bruno Mars 24K Magic on vinyl. I also got a Record Store Day CD.
Man, I really dig your videos. Valuable information, great narrative. Keep them coming.
I spotted lines outside record stores here in the UK on that day! So it's not just a US thing.
I hope that next year there's a better system than just letting everyone in at the same time in a free for all.
got to my the record store about 1230pm and picked up what I was looking for: Peter Tosh with the Jamaican colors vinyl. In & out in 20 minutes.
Record store day in uk is pretty good. But yes you have to be there early too.
I’m so excited for it this year
Thumbs up for mentioning Abraxas. My wife has that. Original pressing $15 last year
+Ian Landesman nice dude! It's a great album!
I was very satisfied.
dude that is the most badass album good on you brother
I attended Record Store Day at The Attic in Pittsburgh. There was a line when I got there at 7am, but by the time they opened at 8am I was at about the middle of the line. I got everything I was looking for and even passed on some things because I was going to spend too much money! Sorry Jarrett, I did score the Star Wars 10 inch...
Great video as always, sir! It sucks you didn't get the Star Wars 10 inch and the Santana Woodstock LP, they are AWESOME!
For my story girlfriend and I made our way to Tunes in Hoboken, NJ for our very first RSD ever, got there 10 minutes before it opened and was able to get the following:
Star Wars 10 Inch single (on a whim, my gf found it and showed me. I had to get it!)
Santana Live at Woodstock
David Bowie Cracked Actor (my main want!)
Prince Partyman 12 inch single (last one too, I had to swoop around someone like Indiana Jones to get it.)
The Def Leppard EP (a MAJOR want!)
The Beatles Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane Double A Side single (an impulse buy, but it's my favorite band and my favorite song by them. I had to get it.)
Venom At War With Satan picture disc (Total surprise, needed to have it. AWESOME album.)
My girlfriend got the Sia Spotify Sessions LP.
Thanks Hank, you're absolutely right! Mionyl is awesome!
+Bryan Lentz haha glad we can relate. But that's awesome you were able to get the Star Wars 10"!
you know what, I walked in a record store here in ottawa today and sitting on the shelf were two copies of the star wars 10 inch from record store day that no one was buying lol.
I went there too at the same time
I was planning on going to rough trade east in London and was gona aim to get there at 4am. but some family stuff happened and I just couldn't go. the one thing I really wanted was the ramones singles box set.
Great video mann. Sucks I missed that day. I went and got journey and Elvis today tho ☺️ good movie hurt locker btw. Love your channel !
Man, you talk exactly like the character in American Psycho. Waiting for the chainsaw
+ositofreitas it's hidden behind the turntable 😉
So...do you have Huey Lewis' 'Fore' album? It's great to play and invite people to your place who got a reservation at Dorsia.
My record store opened at 10AM. I was the seventh person in line when I arrived at 3AM. It was rainy and cold. I also had to work later that day. I was stupid tired but I don't regret it. I got all but one of the records I wanted.
Just found your channel.
great stuff! thanks for the crosley turntable review. saved me some cash!
+rickydlp glad I could help!
Record store day, the one day of the year where scalpers buy up as much as possible so they can rip people off a day later.
I would love to do RSD at Amoeba, I was there the week before and got some good scores. I did RSD in Phoenix and got in line at 3:30am and was second in line, the next person didn't show up until 5:30. Got everything on my wish list except for the Sire 50th Anniversary.
I have sun allergy. So i ordered RSD stuff over the internet. :P
Btw, they were "Preludio" by Jan Demis and "Don't be Affraid" by Some Bizarre.
I was an record store day here in austria and I also picked up nirvana nevermind in beautiful blue 180g vinyl for only about 18€... :-)
Bill Evans! Yes!
I to my nearby record store at 4:30 and picked up the star wars 10" along with Go Robot picture disc.
Pallas pressing on that Nevermind? that is the one I have and it sounds great. Mad Max was a fun film. Looks like you still made the most of the day.
Hey, I just got my first turntable today and my first record was Nirvana nevermind what a coincidence! I am so happy to have joined the vinyl community
The guy Miles you met. Is wearing the exact same Beatles t-shirt that I have in the picture.
Economics 101: highest demand = highest prices. That's why I don't stand in line for RSD.
So you have to pay more for it second-hand?
Missed record store day, but made out alright. Got a preorder for the Alien 4LP soundtrack from MONDO.
How's the parking situation? pretty close or far away? thx for all the great videos!
+piggy wiggy nice, that's the way to do it! 😄👍🏻 you were prepared!
What do you think of the Victrola Nostalgic Aviator Wood 8-in-1 Bluetooth Turntable Entertainment Center?
my local record store had a small selection of RSD2017 labels. I was 35th in line approx and majority of my RSD wants were gone. I ended up with Dogfish heads Songs to drink Beer to.
Do you go to RSD Black Friday, too? I've never done that, but I'd like to this year. After Memorial Day, it's a slippery downward spiral to Thanksgiving.
i picked up nitty gritty dirt bands hold on album love the music and had some awesome cover art i highly recommend
Got the white album at my local store at 20% off. Really wanted that Jimi Hendrix jazz one
Watching this in 2021 and hearing "find me on Friendster, MySpace" feels sooooo weird haha
that a good pick up bro. I have nirvana on a light blue record. also I did $1 records for record store day.
Why the long lines? Are there some discounts or what? I live in Europe and never heard of this Record Store Day. I mean, they apparently are selling new records. Aren't those records normally found on any record store, without having to wait in line, etc.?
