As you mentioned the China Clipper I remember it being called that too. Nice walk today Phil 😊
Many thanks
Hi Phil enjoyed the walk down Gladstone street the Iron works opposite Hall & Rice was Johnsons my Dad worked there and my Nan & Grandad lived down Greswold Street. Tantany still looks like nice place to live all the best Paul
I always feel its a decent place for a walkabout. Johnsons owned a couple of iron foundries in the local area. Many thanks
Hi Phil, I can remember the canal as as a little girl, me and dad would catch the no 10 bus from West Brom to my nan’s house in Friar Park via Black Lake and Stone Cross, that was over 50 years ago!
Great Video 😊
Nice to know someone actually remembers the canal, many thanks
Hi Phil, you are right, the Hargate Arms, was called the China Clipper
Thanks Scott, I thought so, what a great name for a pub
Certainly was. I don't know if you remember i commented on another of your videos the other week. I think it was about west brom high street, where I said I was the resident DJ at busbys for 4 years. I was also the resident DJ at the Hargate Arms for 5 years.
@@scottbullock9609 I bet it was really lively there back then. There aint a local pub anywhere around there now. Thanks Scott
Yes the Hargate arms did used to be the china clipper, then further down all saints way where McDonald's is now used to be a pub called the four in hand, and opposite the red lion the used to be a pub called the ringer bells 👍
Many thanks for the info Paul

Hi Phil.Another great video.I struggled at first to get my bearings in Church Lane.I remember us catching the 29 and later the 252 up to Carters Green and the bus would go past where the canal was.Sue's dad worked at Keys.We would walk on the canal bank in Hateley Heath as the canal was at the back of Denbigh Drive. There was a bridge that looked like a tortoise shell ,I think it was very large cobbles and Sue's mom told me that in 1967 a boy of 5 had drowned in the canal and was found under the bridge. Is the canal still there by Firkins ? I was amazed at there being so many trees on the estates. How green everything was.
Unsure if the bridge is still there, eventually I will get round to have a look. Many Thanks
