I worked there for a short spell last year and the local folk are so friendly despite it's reputation . I used to drive through there daily in the 90's and it was a place you wouldn't of wanted to stop back then , Enjoyed the video
@KeefsCattys yeah, it's like that in most schemes and council estates, most people are just trying to get by, many nice people, I was 16 in 98, grew up in Leith, I wouldn't have visited Niddrie unless I was invited, that age group are most at threat, thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed 👍
I could tell you all the things you weren't sure of. Grew up in Magalene and Niddre. Library is a community center that social work also work out of. Supervised contact with children, mental health groups, recovery groups and programs to address problem behaviours. The county bingo and Rex launderette on wauchope avenue was where we played inside when it was shut down 😂 chucking tins of paint everywhere and generally 'kicking the can about the street' type steeze. Fort Kinnaird used to be the brick press that made the 'niddre bricks' and is where the term 'you'll get half a niddre round the nut' was born from 😂🤣
@jhamiltonsmythe I'm not totally sure but I think it was quite rough in the 90's, I think everything and everywhere improves, thanks for watching and commenting 👍
It was rough in the 90's, same as every scheme in Edinburgh in the 90's. Then CCTV happended and everywhere is 'quiet' in comparison. Bit like the banana flats, it was hell on earth, now it's quiet and a 'listed building' 😳😂🙈 Even young teams aren't real anymore. Nothing hard about wearing a man bag and a balaclava, claiming their a drill rapper cause they punt a quarter a week 😂🤣
@letvyoutube it wasn't easy. They were hanging the 'Napier' guard dog for treason 😳🤦🏼♂️ they decided the dog needed to take the oath also seeing as he was 'staff' so what they did was, they wrote it on a bit of paper and covered it in lard. If dog eats the paper, he's taken the oath...well, surprise surprise, the dog licked off all the lard and left the paper with the oath written upon it. This was seen as an act of treason and the dog was hung. Edinburgh has the most fascinating and often 'grim' stories with such a rich history to be explored. Scottish history without the boring bits is a great book, I recommend it 👍
Lived on Peffermill Road in Craigmillar in the 90's, was rough but good people, The Niddroids were built differently.
@foreignofficeclub5815 lot's of people saying the same thing, the people have always been nice, thanks for watching 👍
@letvyoutube thanks for posting up the video
I done their bins last week. 😁
@jamtarts9839 good man! I always hold on until I see a bin, reducing litter in the streets makes a massive difference 👍
The Whitehouse was one of the most notorious pubs in Edinburgh back in the 60/70's
@gordonmccubbing9138 I didn't know that, now you say it I could believe it was a pub by the look of it, Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Used to be rough in the seventies. Don’t know about now as I’ve not been there since.
