This video is very useful. I've gone back to it many times as I'm getting ready to start my first wicker project! thank you!
The best video I have watched so far. Thank you!
Thank you for the tips !!! I've always sprayed the underneath/back first (after striping). That way, when it's dry, I can flip it over and paint the top without possibly scuffing the front/top edge on the chair and front edges of the arm rests as is possible if I were to paint the front/top first !!!
That is a wonderful tip. Thanks for sharing!!
Looks beautiful and I hope I make mine look that good!
Thank you for sending me this information! How nice of you! Enjoyed your video and will subscribe.
Just bought a cute wicker basket from a thrift store with old paint. Thanks for the video!
Sweet - I love a good thrift find!
I have an older wicker shelf/cabinet that fits over the commode in the bathroom.
It's never been painted & I'm so excited with the idea of painting it white.
Thanks for your informative video!
Sounds great!
just bought a little wicker shelf from goodwill and this video could not be more useful for me!! thank you;)
Glad I could help!
Simple, easy to follow tutorial, thank you so much.
So glad it helped!
Super helpful thanks 😊
So beautiful! You make things so nice but are very practical in how you do it.
Thank you! 😊
So I have 4 wicker chairs and I got them from a friend who gave them to me so this video is going to help me out a lot thanks so much
Glad it helps! Good luck with your chairs!
Excellent video ~ Thank you! Awwwh $4 a can ~ miss pre pandemic prices don’t you?! 😜🥰
They turned out super cute! Have fun at your birthday party! 🥳
Thank you!! 😊
Thank you- great video and super helpful!!
I'm so glad it was helpful!
Great job
Those came out amazing!!!
Thank you!! 😊
Thanks for sharing this was helpful
I'm so glad!
Loved the video. I have a couple of chairs with tons of peeling paint. I had no idea where to start. I found your video really helpful.
I thought there was going to be a list of needed supplies at the end?
Nice job👏👏👏 the preparation work is very important
Yes it is!
Very helpful video! I would also suggest a spray paint gun. You just hook it on the nozzle and it cuts the application process in half.
Great video- everything is explained really well
Glad you liked it!
Always start painting the underneath first.
Good tip!
thanks for the tip on using satin paint!
You're welcome! 😀
What if they are not made for outside? Would you still use soap and water and spray them off?
Great video. How much of the Krud Kutter did you have to use for the two chairs. Thanks.
Not too much. I have been using the same spray bottle to clean a dozen pieces of furniture so far and it is still about 25% full.
Great video. I can't wait to paint my old wicker chair. Is there a type of spray paint that works well for outdoors?
Almost all spray paints work well for outdoors. Just double check that the can says for indoors and outdoors on it.
Finally I came across your video. I have an antique baby buggy. What paint can I use since I want to keep it outside for all seasons to put flowers in? Do I need to put a special mask on when spraying? Thanks! 😊
Hi! I have an entire post dedicated to the best paint for outdoor furniture that should help. Here you go! www.lovelyetc.com/the-best-outdoor-furniture-paint-for-a-paint-finish-that-lasts/
Just finished my outdoor set 2 large chairs and a matching table. I had no peeling paint as I usually wash and paint every couple of years with rattle cans. This year I decided to use an industrial enamel and couldn't find my cheap Harbor Freight air gun sprayer. I ended up brushing it on with a 3" Purdy brush. "NEVER AGAIN". It took 6 hours for the first coat and 2 hours on the second coat and 2 quarts of enamel. But it'll outlast the spray paint I normally use and hopefully when it needs it again I'll either be too old to care or dead.
Oh man, I can imagine that was a huge job! Hopefully it will last many years!
I'm so happy I found your page! I've been dying to paint three of my wicker chairs but I didn't know what to do at all and I was getting ready to take a paint brush to it! You explained it very good, I watched a few that led me you and I was getting a little aggravated because the music was too loud and they talked too fast. I just subscribed and can't wait to check out your other videos! Thank you!! P.S. if it's a very small wicker basket is ok to use chalk paint with a brush? Or should I stick with spray paint. 😺
I'm so glad I could help! And you can definitely brush chalk paint onto a wicker basket - I've done that before and it works well. The main reason I wouldn't recommend it for furniture is it would take an incredibly long time.
My old wicker is flaky, but has been so weathered that a stiff brush harms the wicker.
The link to the pre cleaner isn't working for me. Whats the brand you like to use?
Sorry about that! It is KrudKutter PrePaint Cleaner. Here is a current link - amzn.to/2K4Rhxg
Hi. I Followed the link for the paint I think you used? And it was $39.99 a can. Where did u purchase it? Please advise. Thank you.
Whoa! I just checked and it says $7.50 now. But you can definitely get it cheaper if you are able to go to a store in person. They should have it at Lowes, Walmart, or Home Depot.
What if the wicker was previously painted black? Do you think an attempt to paint it white again would be successful using this method?
It should be, but you want to make sure to use a good primer first to ensure coverage.
Is there any particular kind & brand of spray paint you buy?
Hi! I talk about spray paint in this post that should answer your question. Thank you! www.lovelyetc.com/how-to-spray-paint-furniture-with-a-flawless-finish/
How long did you wait for the chairs to dry after cleaning them with water?
It dries pretty quickly, especially outside in the sun. Plus, I wiped it with paper towels after, so just about 15 minutes.
How long does the paint last on your wicker chairs before chipping? Also would this process work as well with resin wicker chairs?
The paint on my chairs lasted 7 or 8 years before I started seeing small chips. My wicker chairs are usually on a screened porch so they aren't in direct sun and rain - they might share wear sooner if they are more exposed. And yes, it would work great on resin wicker!
I used rustoleum and it took 30+ days to cure. That is frustrating.
It is definitely hard to wait, but it's always best so that your hard work is not ruined. :)
🌎🌎🌎🌎👍🏽
maybe paint the backsides first then tip back over for the fronts?
That would definitely work! 😀
This a good how to video but I realize this is way too much work my aged 70 yr old body. I wonder what it would cost to have someone do it for me. Anyone know anyone who does this at a reasonable price for someone on SSI. My husband passed away and I’m on my own 😢
Can you try to check your local organizations for help? Perhaps libraries, community centers or church organizations? Sometimes even older neighborhood kids looking for work.
Super CuTe! My suggestion would be to wear a mask. Your lungs will appreciate It. Love your ideas!!
You are so right! I need to get better about wearing a mask when spray painting. Thanks for the reminder.
Aren't we all wearing masks outside nowadays😉 🇬🇧👍 great video. I'm intending to spray paint my current conservatory wicker suite for outdoor use, as it's looking tired.
You really need somebody to show you how to paint with a spray can…
Please consider using a mask or respirator.
If I was painting inside or an enclosed space, I definitely would, but being outside I didn't feel it was necessary. Of course, always follow the safety tips for the products you are using. Thank you!
Nice job👏👏👏 the preparation work is very important
Thank you! And yes it is - it's the worst part of painting but the most important!
Great job
Thank you!
