    By the way, you can go higher than 400w... in fact in domestic PV installs its recommended to go 1/3 higher than your MPPT can charge at. It means you are more likely to hit the limit. It won't damage an MPPT, it just means its max current is 15amps.

    Do you need the van ignition on to use the clayton power unit? Seen as you run the signal cable to the vans fusebox/ignition live.

      No not at all. Thats just to tell the unit to charge from the vehicle battery.

    1. Do you have any updates on when their app will be coming out?
    2. How does the Clayton Power compare to the EcoFlow Power Hub which is EcoFlows all-in-one electrical system?

    • @THQAutomotive
      @THQAutomotive  3 місяці тому

      Ecoflow just aren't cut out for this type of use. They're a great mobile pack. One of the biggest issues is how long they take to charge. Clayton are like no other with how fast they charge DC - DC and solar.

    Thats a very informative video. That unit seems to be the bees nees. What would be the minimum size unit to run a deisel heater in you opinion. Thanks love the videos btw💪👍

      After initial ramp up. Diesel heaters use very little power mate. Probably 30 watts. 👍🏻👍🏻 claytin would smash a diesel heater. Even the smallest 👍🏻

    What are they like for reliability being you have everything running in one unit compared with a Victron setup.

    • @THQAutomotive
      @THQAutomotive  3 місяці тому +1

      Very good and so much less complication. I'd like a victron set up, 1 component failed (eg solar input) everything still functions as it should. Their customer service is incredible too. We've had 1 fault unit so far out of hundreds, they replaced it next day.

    Will the power unit fit underneath a standard T6 drivers seat?

    • @THQAutomotive
      @THQAutomotive  3 місяці тому

      No I'm afraid not. There is just so much in that unit it's not possible to make it that smaller. It is considerably smaller and lighter than the same sort of set up if you have all these components as separates.

    What size mm is the cables from the Clayton to the fuse box? Ours is 16mm and I think they are too big.

    • @THQAutomotive
      @THQAutomotive  3 місяці тому +1

      Way smaller than that. It's only to wake the unit up.

    Great bit of kit, it’s a shame that they don’t make it a bit wider and flatter to fit under the front seat. It’s just once you’ve got this installed taking up space in the rear somewhere and all that empty space where the leisure batteries used to live

    • @THQAutomotive
      @THQAutomotive  3 місяці тому +1

      Hello. I see what you mean but it would be a struggle to fit all thats needed in that space. The front print is way smaller than it would be for a separates system that offered the equivalent
