The BEST barrel CZ has ever made and a very nice stock! I saw this rifle at Scheels here in Texas and I walked away because of the price. I went back to the store a month later and it was still there and something told me to just spend the money and get it and I did….. Let me tell you “ It’s the best gun purchase I’ve ever made “. The icing on the cake was a month after I got it I heard they had discontinued them! Which made me even happier I got one. CZ for those who know”!
I did two exact things to my CZ 457 LRP as you talked about in this video. Trim the cheek piece for easier removing the bolt and replace the stock trigger spring with a boll point pen spring with no cost at all. The trigger weight now is only 1.2lb. Thanks for your video!
Odd. Recently purchased my 457, and of course, as we all do, I immediately started researching "improvements" before taking the first shot. 😂 Read a lot about springs, from the yodave setup, to home brew versions. Out of the box, my trigger had a bit of creep, a bit of overtravel, and a very clean break right at 3#. Started adjusting and testing, just to see what the factory setup could offer, before ordering parts. Fairly quickly got the trigger down to 10 ounces in stock configuration. Too light for my tastes so bumped it back up to 1lb. 4oz. No creep, VERY minimal overtravel (if you can even call it that), and clean and crisp break, and no bump off. Totally stock setup other than making the adjustments. Not sure what I'm missing, but I found no need to order, or scrounge for springs... 🤷♀
The stock trigger is very very nice for sure and the spring I found made it a bit better but after the timney drop in trigger it’s a day and night difference between the two. I really like a crisp trigger and have used timney triggers in a lot of my rifles and I just have to have a great trigger now. The stock CZ trigger is definitely nice for a factory offering but I guess I have just became a trigger snob
I am sooooo going to pinch that idea of trimming the cheek rest. It is so frustrating having to struggle with removing the bolt, thanks for sharing that. Nad i think maybe it's time mine gets an ARCA rail too
My 2 bob's worth on this CZ 457 LRP just got mine waited 9 months, due to none in Aussie at the time. I find that the stock settings suit me, I just put my March scope on and away I go. I suppose I'll change the trigger setting but need to put another 1000 rounds down range yet.
The spring from a BIC lighter (flint spring, not gas release spring - there are two) will work in the trigger of a CZ457, when cut down to the right length.
Nice 👍🏽 I used a pen spring but now that I think of it the flint spring might be lighter in pull wright. I have a flat trigger shoe Timney on the way but it’s back ordered so may be a while yet. Maybe I’ll try the lighter spring and see if it’s better
@@BROTUNED I can "see" stuff in the thermal my buddy with an IR system cannot because if a bunny is perfectly camouflaged in white light, it is in monochrome too. I chose the XM38 over the ATN 5 despite the apparently poor comparison seen on a you tube video, The ATN after sales seemed to be poor. I am delighted with it. The relatively short battery life, 6 hours, suits me as I will hardly ever spend 6 hours hunting bunnies. I made myself s "Hot target" with batteries and a pattern of resistors so I could set up the scope at my local range. One addition... Having set up the thermal at 25 and 50 yards, I fitted a red dot sight to the scope tube at 45 degrees and set the red dot up for 25 yards when the rifle is tipped over. This means the X-Y adjustments work in the right direction, However, I found the red dot to be valuable in daylight because it can be hard to pick up ground features in the thermal so, a peek through the red dot at something that looks interesting, and drop my eyes down to the thermal for clarification. Sadly, in bright sunlight, the dark blue menu in the scope is invisible because my eyes close up to pinholes in the light. The screen image is fine though. At night, the whole deal is visible. Note, I was shooting on ground I hadn't surveyed in daylight and I stepped off a 15 foot embankment breaking 2 ribs against my CX452 stock. The scope was saved by the moderator and the red dot sight... Shooting in pitch darkness has its hazards. I am better prepared now (Head Torch etc)... All in all, if I had the extra cash, I would have gone for the XM50. The screen is larger, the resolution is better but... no thermal scope is that high a resolution. IF you get a chance to shoot a thermal, you only thing you might find tricky is setting the scope up for a specific range. The One Shot zeroing is more like 3 or 4 shots. I expect a single hole at 50 yards. My trigger is quite a hard pull compared to my competition 10.22 with a Kidd Trigger, so my next tweak is to lighten the trigger as I tend to go off target as the trigger lets go. Sorry for the information overload :) Weapons Grade Respect from the UK...
I recently picked up one of these rifles! Loving it so far, and I’ve also been considering adding an ARCA rail. My main concern is the drill bit grabbing and tearing the rubberized finish of the stock. Did you experience anything like this or was the process pretty straight forward? Good to see a Canadian firearms channel as well! 🇨🇦
How’s it going Matt! Glad to hear you picked one up. I had no issue at all drilling it and the coating didn’t seem like it was even close to pealing off or grabbing the bit. I only drilled one hole and I used the 2 existing sling swivel stud mounts for a total of 3 screws holding it down. I also bought an arca quick disconnect to mount my bipod to. Well enjoy the new rifle and so far most SK ammunition work very well in it. Cheers Matt
Dear Sir, thank you for your interesting video. I'd like to put an answer: because I want to buy a 457 lrp for production and open shooting, I'd like to know if the barrel is so heavy as the MTR version.
I do believe both barrels have the same diameter but the lrp is fluted so a bit lighter in weight but. Not to sure about the barrel diameter. It does come with a match chamber though same as the mtr

It’s a very nice rifle, very smooth action so far but to early to give a good review only have about 500 rounds through it so far. But it is definitely more accurate with almost all ammo compared to a savage mk2. I will be making more videos with this rifle coming soon I believe it’s still to early to give it a review. Fit and finish is beautiful the stock is very nice and fully adjustable. I think if I was to do it again I would get the cheapest 457 I could then do a lilja barrel and some sort of chassis system and would be very close to the same price possibly a couple hundred dollars more but I think it would be better. But for a stock rifle it is very nice
Basically the same as the day I picked it up. No visible wear or anything on it but I’m not hard on it either. I’m very happy with the durability so far
Hi Ryan, I just got the LRP, I followed your cheap mods for it, but curious as to what Arca Clamp you're using? I see you're using a some sort of Pic/Arca mod there. Thanks!
I found a 400mm arca rail on Amazon I believe it was $50 Canadian I also picked up a few 300mm arca rails but the 400mm is the one I use now I can adjust the bipod from the mag well to almost the muzzle with this one. I used wood screws that are basically the same diameter as the stock sling swivel studs then pre drilled a pilot hole for the back screw so I had almost zero chance of splitting the wood stock. I used the front 2 stud holes that were already there. Hope this answers your question if there is anything else you need to know I’ll see what I can do to help
@@BROTUNED I was actually asking about the how you attached the Arca Clamp to the bipod. I have a 300mm Arca Rail and a couple of Arca clamps. I was planning on bolting the clamp to an Ebay sourced 5 slot PIcatinny rail then use my Harris (clone) bipod with the that has the picatinny clamp

I just went on Amazon and bought an arca quick detach camera mount and I love the adjustability of this set up over the fixed one position sling mount or a picatini mount.
Yes they are! I was shooting my marlin xt22 at the range a few years ago and a guy had a 455 and asked my if I wanted to try it. I did then I had to get myself a CZ 22 rifle after some time I came across the lrp and I picked it up and it’s my go to 22 now. Absolutely love my cz457 lrp

Nice video. How to connect bipod on Arca rail?
I customized an arca mount
My first modification was an XM38 thermal scope....... and a red dot sight.

nice rifle! in the near future i'm going to buy a cz 457 synthetic 20". this will be my starting point ;)
That’s a great idea. For the same money you can build one up to whatever you like.
that’s kinda my thought.. just not sure on barrel length. one minute i want 16” and then i want 20” lol
