Wow! Worked like a charm, 1st time too! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video, my Galaxy tab is now super fast, even though its from 2014!! It was so slow with Android 4! Amazing, and a great way to stop older tablets going to landfill. I really appreciate the time you took to make this video! Awesome! :-)
Hello from Costa Rica today on 2023. I can say that this is th only one video that could guided me on root and install a custom rom on my old tablet. I'm very appreciate your help! Like and suscribed!
Thanks Marcus! This worked BUT with some hiccups which I cover here: 1) Make sure you put the gapp and lineage zip files onto your tablet's SD card at the root level. I had to do it manually. Also make sure to get the ARM not ARM64 version, 7.1, pico. 2) When removing KNOX, you must restart your tablet FIRST or it will simply hang while running SU to delete KNOX and won't do anything. 3) After uploading TWRP to the tablet completes, I didn't get a green box, but it did complete. 4) When you restart the tablet with the intention of running TWRP, you must hold down PWR, HOME and VOL UP and you must keep holding it after the samsung splash screen shows up and disappears and reappears again. If you release it before the splashscreen reappears, you will just boot into samsung instead of TWRP. This was the part of the video where Marcus said he missed showing us the splashscreen and I guess forgot to explain that.

For those of you who got stuck at Downloading screen when booting the "TWRP". This is what i found Chainfire had the KOT49H.T520XXUANAE firmware build number running on the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 SM-T520 tablet when he created the rooting file (CF-AUto-Root) that is available in this guide. That firmware build number is one of the updates available for Android 4.4.2 KitKat software updates. You do not need to be running on the same firmware build number as him when you follow this guide. You just need to make sure that your Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 is running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and does come with the SM-T520 model number.
The SuperSU freezes when disabling the Knox. After waiting for an hour I stopped the app and went ahead with Team Recovery. Did the back up and wipe following the instuctions step by step. But when I go to install, there is nothing on the SD card. So I could never really finish the whole thing. The tablet is now back to factory settings but the apps are really not working.
Worked perfectly - eventually! TWRP has a bit of an issue on this tablet because it thinks it is overheating and shuts down. Unfortunately it did this mid flash killing my tablet, or so I thought. Left it somewhere really cold and eventually got it to boot back into TWRP then you have to move quick. The actual ROM flash is very quick but even then the CPU temperature was reported to have risen from around 50° to nearly 80° . Put it to cool down before you flash the GAPPS package and it should be good to go. Well worth doing because KitKat 4.4 is ancient. Better battery life too.
Hello. I've just done mine and although it said gapps failed, it rebooted with linea ok. The only bug is that it tells me "settings has stopped " open app again". How can I get rid of this?
Hi, when installing lineage14.1 , the progress bar goes about 1/4 and stops there (but showing it is going on). i left it to complete about 5 to 6 hours but never complete. please help,,,

Yooo Thx Marcus! I got Lineage installed. Now I just have to figure out how to download the OS to get Google Play because it wouldn't let me install the pico or stock version of the OS. Edit: Lol realized the tablet was a running on a 32bit chip, not a 64bit. Thx for the tutorial again.
I tried. Wanted this to work, but only works for GTP 10.1 if the specific build is KOT49H.T520XXUANAE. I have a slightly different build (T520XXUAOD2) so the root fails. The instructions say to go find the correct build, but offers no link. I’ve searched but cannot find it. So stuck with KK still.

Thank you! I want to do this to be able to install newer apps on the tablet. But I wonder what happens to the image and video files on the tablet. How do I backup those first? Or is one of those steps in the video doing the backup? What happens to payed apps I have already installed?

In odin tI pressed start and it claimed success it auto rebooted but into its normal o.s. with the difference that the developer usb option has gone can anyone help please?
Hi, Sorry to hear you are having trouble. What version of WIndows are you using? Are your drivers updated? What version of Odin are you on? Also, have you tried turning off the tablet after it completes flashing instead of letting it reboot? Then boot recovery using the button combo. Ensure your tablet it fully charged when attempting this. Also, others have mentioned that it gets hot and reboots. Allow it to cool down. If none of this helps, feel free to contact me via FB or phone.
Was trying on my GT5100 tablet. Could not boot up TWRP though it passed Odin flash. In this tablet, there is no home button, so I wonder if I should press the power and volume UP button to boot onto TWRP, after "Pass"? I did that but it did not boot TWRP up. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback and detailed comments.
@@iQAndroid Done a different 520 Pro and that just wouldn't complete with TWRP 3.1.1. Use an earlier version and it works perfectly.
Как же долго я тебя искал! Лайк! Планшет просто летает, и все приложения становятся.
Great video. It took me a few times to get the correct files, but everything is installed and updated.
Thank you so much! You saved me. Just to confirm it is working November 2021. Best regards Marcus.

It should only take a minute or two. Start again if it hangs.

@@iQAndroid It Worked. Thank You,,,,
On windows 11. Installed the samsung drivers but tablet not showing up on Odin
Everything seems to work fine, but the video doesnt show how LineageOS and Gapps where transferred to the sd card. Can someone explain? I got stuck right there. Thanks
RIght!
You can go to sammobile.com and get the KOT49H.T520XXUANAE firmware or androidfilehost.com/?fid=24566454284190974. Thanks for watching and if you need support. Visit iQAndroid.com

Thank you very much Dude! You saved my day! :)
Thank you! I want to do this to be able to install newer apps on the tablet. But I wonder what happens to the image and video files on the tablet. How do I backup those first? Or is one of those steps in the video doing the backup? What happens to payed apps I have already installed?

Hello I tried all day to upgrade my tab following your instructions to the letter I flashed the tar file with odin and the tab reboots the same as always ???
@@iQAndroid how do i get you on fb?

I do this a year ago but something happen with the battery. Started draining even when its shutdown. did that happen to anyone else?
Was trying on my GT5100 tablet. Could not boot up TWRP though it passed Odin flash. In this tablet, there is no home button, so I wonder if I should press the power and volume UP button to boot onto TWRP, after "Pass"? I did that but it did not boot TWRP up. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
got into download mode and did a twrp but think a wrong one, now cant go back to download mode only recovery mode and cant install an os from there?
Go to download mode and install a different version of TWRP.
