Hey Man! You are simply awesome! Your tuts are really safe and 100% effective. I feel safe when I follow your instructions on my android device.. Can you please do a video on best screen recorder for Kitkat ??? :) Love from Pakistan

Thanks Android Guy for the Awesome tutorial , really cleared all the misconceptions about Android Custom ROMS that I had.I ran into a little problem with custom recovery
Great tutorial.. As you say, once you do it, it all seems so simple. Got CM11 on my Galaxy S3, and it is faster than it ever was and with so many customizable options.
Hi HK, a much-needed post, but do you think custom ROMs will work on lower end old devices like the Samsung galaxy ace s5830i? I have seen my friend flash ROMs in that and I have seen the device becomes very slow. So is there any way to make it fast? or I would have to buy another phone and move on? Thanks in advance
Hey Man sorry to bother you but just a little question should Wipe cach and Wipe dalvik cache before the flashing the rom or after it is flashed? BTW thank you again !
Nice video and really helpful if you are new to this. I would really like to see a video on explaining how to properly partition your external SD card (probably with AParted) to be used with the Link2SD to transfer apps and game data to your external SD but also to use your external SD Card for more RAM. For example I want to do it in my tablet with a 32 GB micro SD card. But not sure how to properly do it to not only transfer games to my external SD but also have more RAM from it. I did some digging on it and didn't find anything that explains on how to do it to have both. So I think if you make a video on this it would help lots of people. Both for them who either wants more space or more RAM or like me who wants both. Thanks
great video thanks for putting it up, just a quick question, ive had a look for customs roms for my old samsung galaxy fame device as I wanted to try what you have done here... but the instructions on the xda forums for this are pretty vague (to me at least),, any chance you could help explain them better? if you have free time that is.
How can people unlike this!! This tutorial is just so perfect. But can you please also show how to install or flash custom recovery in detail. You only showed how to install a custom ROM. My device is Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 GT-p3100 running jellybean 4.1.2 and I didn't get enough tutorial for flashing a custom recovery for my device. And Thank you for your quick reply to my previous query.
Great explanation buddy ,i have just one question what if i want to install another custom rom and want a backup of this rom as well will it overlap the stock rom?
If the room is Not pre rooted. You will need to reroot but it's very easy to root from the Custom recovery. Just follow the instructions Video on Rooting after installing a custom Rom. (link in the description)

Hey android guy, 2 questions/help needed. Do I need to root my phone in order to install a custom rom and a custom recovery? Please if you have time can you find me a video/tutorial on how to root my Samsung Galaxy s5 the Indian exynos variant. Kindly reply and thanks if you have read this. Peace!
The android guy can you please make a video on "how to swap internal memory with external memory"...i heard you saying it in one of your videos that you swaped the memories to install large game so can you please help me
Both Yes and No,If the ROM that your flashing comes rooted(pre rooted) then your device will be rooted. If the ROM doesn't comes pre rooted like the one that i i showed in the video, then its non rooted. You will have to root it
Tracey ODonnell If the sim cards are fine(No scratches or scrapped off connections), and doing a factory rest on your device yields no fix then its should be a hardware issues, you might need to change the sim card trays only.Take it to a local individual phone repair shop as the servicing center folkes will change the entire thing for a small issue
Possibly but my research has warranted that changing the tray doesn't fix the issue as it's thought that it's the connection between the tray and the board itself. Thanks for your time I appreciate your responding.
Do you need a computer to do all this ? sorry for asking but I'm new to this and don't know as much as others. I have an unlocked note 3. I did root it using towel root one click root apk (no pc) not sure if I am totally rooted. but my phone is faster in most area, s. I downloaded root booster and green if from android play store also. Thanks for your video. You explained well.
To install A custom ROM you will need No pc you can do it straight form your device. But to install custom recovery you may need a pc. It depends on your device. Google search will help. But once a custom recovery is install there after everything else can be done from your devide itself no pc
this is a great tutorial, although i have a couple of questions, can i do the backup with titanium? i mean would that titanium app work as the custom recovery you are talking about? thanks man
this is the most in depth video I have ever seen on flashing a ROM...... thanks a lot and keep up the good work. but how do I backup my phone if its a phone which doesn't have an SD card slot
Even my phone didn't have an SD card the whole time. Its just that the Internal SD(phone memory) and external sd (SD card) are both named as SD on the recovery.only the stuff on your device flash memory will be wiped and the SD memory will be safe So all internal or external SD be safe and backups will be saved in your internal SD memory. Good luck the android guy
Is Cyanogenmod and Custom ROM is same or different? When I am searching for Custom ROM for my device it is showing the results which are for my device. I have two doubts here. Firstly, is there any need for internet connection during the process. And secondly I use kingroot, so should I replace it with superSU before doing this. Thank you.
I have a Samsung S4 mini I435 model. I have the phone rooted thanks to your directions, but I've been seeing some comments online about not being able to get a custom recovery for my phone...
as you explained in your vedio, that we should first backup and then go ahead for the custom recovery! so mine question is too you is. Cell like myn moto g 1st gen, we don't have external SD card where we should backup? ... 😯
Use your internal memory simple. Internal memory and flash memory and two different things. Only the flash memory is wiped when you install a rom. The data on the internal memory including the backups and not wiped unless you manually format the phone from the recovery. Just be safe, take a backup of the custom recovery backup on your pc
I've always used twrp but this seemed simpler? Is Cwm compatible with all the latest roms as I've read in some of the threads to only flats with twrp and never really understood how it made a difference?
+DipsyMum29 Yes,Twrp has some bells and whistles. But since Cmw is the O.G of custom recoveries, its compatibility is better than twrp, and is very basic with important features served in a simple manner.I Do have twrp on my other phones, its better and easier to navigate than cmw,but since most people watching this video have cmw on (as it supports all the older devices as well as all the newer ones too),So made a video showing cmw,you can also try twrp, filz, cyanogenmod recovery, etc, etc. The set of instructions shown in the this video is same on every other custom recovery as almost all the recoveries that came after Cmw,has the names and titles based on cmw.
+The Android Guy And Ya,you will need Twrp to do certain try of tasks like mounting an otg, selective partitioning, etc Like wise you will need cmw to do things like dual boot 2 roms, etc If you are only into roms, them anyone will do Hope that helps

Just a quick question, my apologizes for ignorance... Once you have flashed your custom rom, is your device more considered rooted?

So If i have a lollipop i still can downgrade to a kitkat by finding the kitkat ROM and following your steps?
