  • Nissan's all-new Rogue Sport is, of course, not all-new at all. Folks in Canada and other world markets have known this sub-compact crossover for years as the Nissan Qashqai. Whatever you want to call it, the Rogue Sport is a "tweener" crossover and in America it's designed to fill the gap between the smaller Nissan Juke and the larger Nissan Rogue that's available with a third row.
    What about the "Sport" part of the Rogue Sport? Well, here you're likely to be disappointed. Yes, it does handle a little better than the Rogue, but in this context Nissan has defined "Sport" to simply mean "smaller" so don't expect improved acceleration or mind-bending handling abilities.

    I'm not in the market for a car, I haven't been for a long time, and I doubt I will be for many years to come. But this channel is just so darn fascinating!

    Never considered a Nissan before, but these last couple of times, when I rode Uber, they were Nissans. One was a Altima. The other was the longer Rogue. What surprised me about both of them was how very smooth they rode. Does this Rogue Sport have that smooth ride. I also noticed that it's built in Japan, which is a plus. Your opinion is appreciated.

    I absolutely love that measurement arrow thing you do! It is really helpful in gauging the real size of these vehicles!

    Alex I wanted to say thank you for your detailed reviews and because of your reviews I bought my first foreign car 2015 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL which replaced my 2007 Chevy Malibu SS...My Chevy was a complete lemon and I had little to no issues with my Nissan. I am looking to replace my 2011 Equinox as it starting to give me problems...thank you for doing what you do!

    Drove two of these for two separate road trips. One is AWD, the other FWD. Got 28MPG in the AWD trim on 1600mile trip. But FWD we got 33MPG on a 1000 mile trip. FWD has adequate power unlike the AWD. You really needed to rev the AWD up to get going. FWD was a lot smoother. Both were rental cars. I really liked the size of these crossovers that are a class-size below the CRV, Rogue, and Rav4. Perfect for my family.

    Nissan has a patented "zero gravity" seat that is super-comfortable on long drives. I rented a Nissan Rogue from Hertz and my butt was very happy.

    I think it's alright. I like the regular Rogue because it's practically the same as the Sport but has a higher roof line. The higher roof line looks better to me.

    Great Review, lots of detailed facts. I tend to like the Rouge Sport for its size & for its looks. I looked at the Mazda CX3 and frankly it is a lot smaller and the back seat is almost useless for adults, the space behind the rear seat is also a lot less than the Rouge Sport.

    I probably wouldn't mind getting one of these despite the low MPG if the engine was the same engine as the Juke. Nissan you have put the 1.6L from the Juke in this so call "Sport" model..another mistake if you want to capture the small SUV segment. If it's all pretty similar to HRV, CH-R etc...then people will go with them two well know brand because Nissan offer noting unique. Excellent review. Thank you

    Just bought a 2018 CX-3. It's really on the smaller size (coming from a 2006 Grand Cherokee), but it drives much better than the Qashqai, looks cooler and it doesn't have Nissan's terrible cvt

    The 9 speed ZF transmission has never actually been mass produced by ZF. It is actually manufactured in the USA and even exported for use by Honda UK in the CRV and Land Rover in the Evoque and Discovery Sport.

    • @bw6415
      @bw6415 6 років тому

      Tous Shong I️ think the decision was made to leave the 2.0 in it because the Juke is being updated (the Nissan Kicks from Brazil) and it gets the 1.6 turbo.

    • @tousshong9438
      @tousshong9438 6 років тому

      Bart Warner, it may be true but Nissan is already selling these SUV with the 1.6T engine over in the European as "Cashcow" so why stick the weak ass 2.0 engine from the Sentra in it, re-badge as "Sport" the try to price grouch us close to 30K? We just get a re-badge SUV from Europe with less HP while their model is already been refresh for 2018. Only different is Nissan put a nicer steering on the USA model. LOL

    • @bw6415
      @bw6415 6 років тому

      Tous Shong we never really know why automakers make weird decisions. Sometimes it because they can make certain engines in larger volumes than they can others. Sometimes it’s all $$$$$$. I️ think they should have put the turbo in the Sport and put the 2.0 in the new Juke. It would have made more sense.

    I wish there were more substantial power train options in this class. HRV Should have the 1.5 turbo as an option at least. Would be nice if the Rogue Sport got the Jukes 1.6 or the NA unit from the bigger Rogue. Everything seems to float around 140-150 hp and similar torque.

    • @sic22l
      @sic22l 6 років тому

      In Europe Qashqai has 1.6 turbocharged engine that makes 160hp and goes like stink. I'm surprised they don't offer this engine in the US because usually US gets the most powerful engine options.

    • @scrambler69-xk3kv
      @scrambler69-xk3kv Рік тому

      Stick your turbo. Pisses me off that goddamn young people like them. so more and more are out there. It is just something else to go wrong,and have shown to reduce the life of the engine because it puts more stress on the combustion chamber, they then start to burn oil and loose power. Wake up people.

    • @scrambler69-xk3kv
      @scrambler69-xk3kv 6 місяців тому

      I turbo is a dealbreaker for me and I would leave the lot if it had one just something else to go wrong that I do not need. Plus it stresses the engine and shortens it's life.

    I've owned a Qashqai 2wd diesel 1.5 litre with manual transmission for the last three years. It has gone well with only an air-con failure during warranty, plus corrosion of the rear brake discs/rotors. Build quality isn't quite up to that of Honda's, but it isn't bad.
    One major drawback on the US model is that it only sells with the dreadfully unreliable Nissan/Jatco CVT automatic. It has been proven to be a disaster in Europe. Just perhaps they might have made it more reliable by now, but good luck with it.

    The liftgate sucks on the Rogue Sport. If you're in the market for this one, especially if you're not particularly muscular, you will struggle closing it. They have no solution for it.

  • @marinoint

    There's no need to post the combined legroom for cars, because manufacturers don't measure them in the same way!
    For example, Infiniti claimed that Q50 has 79.6" of combined legroom, yet in reality, it's noticeably smaller than Acura TLX's (77.1"), and far smaller than the new Buick Regal Sportback's (79")!
