I feel SO seen especially when she was talking about her dating experience in DC. I used to lived there and hated every moment of dating. The men are either DL, cheating on their spouse/girlfriends or just straight up losers. You couldn’t pay me to go back LOLLLL😩😩

Love this episode ❤. I absolutely agree on the point of threading lightly with building/investing in a man when he is down, especially if he is not your husband.men who are financially down or building shouldn’t even be dating, everyone situation is different but be careful ladies

I respect your personal standard for the men who grew up without fathers. However, I disagree with this idea considering how many Black men grow up without fathers especially in THIS country. Something super out of their control. I think it's about how they have coped with the absent father: Did they find other father figures who weren't necessarily biological fathers? Have they gone to therapy and worked diligently to fill the void of an absent father? Have they been intentional about making God their father? I think that idea/"standard" eliminates men who could actually be beautiful partners/husbands. For anyone watching who may be considering which "standards" they want to have when it comes to dating, I think it's important to push back on that one.
I'm enjoying the pod though! Thanks for sharing.

I learned it's about asking questions and watching how they behave in their daily lives will show if there is true change. It's like when people say they are men/ or women of God. Asking questions and seeing the fruit of their lives will reveal the truth.

I understand the intent but let’s talk to people who have been married 10+ years. Let’s not act like the divorce rate is at 50% and higher for BW so taking advice from people who have not passed the rest of time is giving everyone thinks they know something about a successful relationship and you haven’t been in one long enough. How often we find out after the fact that these women married the same tragic men that a lot of women date.

I actually agree with you in some way. It's always great to see seasoned couples. At the same time I think it is great to interview couples at all stages in their relationships and marriages. We all have something to offer in these discussions and lessons that can be learned from all our experiences. Personally, I think there were a lot of gems in this interview, and I hope you were able to enjoy the discussion. - Deshauna

@@SourLossSweetLessons everybody has a story and experience and too often we rely on garnering gems from people we don’t know in real life or wouldn’t or because of proximity counsel in real life and how often do we find out people are not living these realities they claim to speak about in real life. Not saying that’s the case here but the problem is everybody searching for meaning and going to everyone but GOD. People change their lives all the time and their mind all the time as in the case of the podcaster dropping bad habits that at one point she was justifying. People thought many of these celebrities were living right and they weren’t and goy many stories are out their about domestic situations where to the world they were giving advice but suffering silently

I agree I never dated or considered marrying any woman that did not grow up with an intact family or a woman with children or a divorced woman that broke her covenant since 80% of divorces are initiated by the woman. I'm teaching my 21 yr old son who is a chemical engineer how to find his wife and the biblical characteristics she must have. We believe in 'Parental Involved Courtship' . Yes we take our legacy very seriously with both our son and future lawyer daughter.

6:44 I liked your men of God talk but I think we should be careful when we call women delusional. It doesn’t have the best connotation. We ALL have made mistakes in dating and should be encouraging women in love to see and require their value. All love over here! 🫶
