    Funny how the camera cuts during the tough parts like getting the original mount off.

    I had this professionally installed on my 98 Jeep Cherokee xj along with upgraded tie rod and ball joints to compliment my RC 3" lift.. Very happy with the front end upgrades and it drove smooth for about a month. Unfortunately the driver's side steering stabilizer started to leak hydraulic fluid all over my driveway. RC needs better quality control. I'm waiting on my mechanic to get a new one in hopefully this doesn't happen again.

    I have a 2008 Wrangler and it’s scary to drive. Had it since 2010. Took it to Midas and they said like $8k to fix it. I said no thanks but still scary. I replaced $200 steering stabilizer and seems to have solved 90% of that $8k estimate.

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  3 роки тому +1

      Just make sure you keep an eye on the rest of your front end! $8k sounds pretty steep in my opinion, but I have a feeling they likely saw that your tie rod ends, ball joints, control arm bushings and track bar bushings are starting to wear. The dual steering stabilizer will absolutely help prevent any looseness in your steering for now - but if other components are worn, they will eventually need to be replaced or else you run the risk of your steering stabilizers wearing out prematurely and loose steering coming back. -Zach

    So why didn’t you measure and even up the length on the shocks? I noticed you had the drivers side to the clamp but the passenger side was further out on the tie rod?
    I have the same setup, is it normal for the shocks to collapse all the way on the full turn? I don’t know if it can turn any more with out removing one side of the shock mount...

    The single steering stabilizer gave me some serious death wobble, I had to remove immediately and put my old OEM one back in, I am glad I kept the old one.

  • @reggiejopek8511

    This is more of a question, but if you're not putting dual stabilizers but a single. Do you put the center axle bracket in the same place? Or towards tie rod end

    Can I install this without lifting the front of the jeep and just turn the wheel to the left and right extremes on the ground?

    • @jessicanorman9694
      @jessicanorman9694 3 роки тому +2

      Yes you can. Also by jacking up the vehicle you’ll be able to get that bolt out instead of all the extra work that they are doing in this video. Installing in much much easier then this shows.. puls it’s less work.

    Will this work on a 2.5 spacer lift? It’s still considered a suspension lift instead of a body lift, but I’m just wondering.

    Having a really hard time with the U bolts on the axle & the bracket. U bolts are a really tight fit & the holes on bracket will not line up. I take everything off & they line up fine. Put the U bolts back on the axle & I holes on the bracket still won't line up. Do I have to take the bracket to a machine shop to widen the holes? Any suggestions????? Only thing holding me up.

      Did you get an answer? I have the same problem. The h bolts are just snug enough going over the axel that they spread slightly at the ends.

    Is this steering stabilizer better or the Old Man EMU steering stabilizer?

    • @jessicanorman9694
      @jessicanorman9694 3 роки тому +1

      Old man is better then rough country been in the off-road game a long time.. it’s spendy due to that reason..but rough country is also way cheaper. Rough country vs old man is like shopping at Walmart vs target. So that being said you can’t really go wrong with either choice.

    I broken steering stabilizers can 100 percent cause death wobble literally anything that can cause extra movement in the suspension components

    • @extremeterrain
      @extremeterrain  4 роки тому +2

      You 100% can develop a wobble once your steering damper gets worn out, but wobble is never caused by *only* a worn steering damper. If your stabilizer wears out and you develop wobble, there's likely other parts in your front end that are starting to wear as well (ball joints, tie rod ends, control arm bushings, track bar bushings, etc.) that your damper is just not masking anymore. A steering damper alone with never fix what needs to be replaced. Thanks for watching! -Zach
