Spa Valley Railway 'Southern Steam Up' 17/06/2023

A visit to the Spa Valley Railway for their Southern steam up gala during the weekend of the 17th & 18th June 2023.
The gala was celebrating the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Southern Railway and featured a line-up of six locos in action with a two train passenger & brake van service. Two visiting star guess locos for the gala was the South Eastern & Chatham Railway Class O1 No.65 making it second visit away from the Bluebell Railway. And British Railways London Midland Region 'Ivatt' Class 2MT No.41313 makes it first ever visit away from the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.
The two guess locos was joined along side the railway resident & on-loan fleet Southern Railway 'Battle of Britain' Class No.34072 "257 Squadron", Hunslet 'Austerity' No.2890 "Douglas" (running as No.31592) Caledonian railway 812 Class No.828 (visiting from the Straphspey Railway and return to steam following it axle box repairs as well station pilot at Tunbridge Wells)
Also in action was British Railways Class 25 No. D7612 (visiting on-loan from the South Devon Railway) was hauling brake van rides between Groombridge & Eridge.

The last few years the spa valley has come along way i do enjoy a visit there when i can. Are you heading to epping ongar this weekend for the steam gala. I do love the way the owner of the austerity is happy for it to be made up in different guises
