Spa Valley Railway 'Scottish Steam Up – Celebrating 828's 125th Birthday' 31/08/2024
A visit to the Spa Valley Railway for the Scottish Steam Up to celebrate a very special 125th Birthday of Caledonian Railway 812 Class No. 828 on Saturday 31st August 2024.
The sole surviving 812 class was joined by a follow Caledonian loco 439 Class No. 419 (running in BR number 55189 and visiting from the Bo’ness & Kinnell Railway).

Absolutely sad that 419 is in BR black.
I know 419 looks lovely in CR blue, but I really do like the loco in BR black as that reminds me of the time when LBSCR E4 tank 32473 came to the railway in the late 2000s.

It would be better if there was a proper loop at the beginning end of the railway, so the steamies can run round and take the trains back themselves. Still, it is what it is. Nice to see the Large Prairie Tank Engine running. I hope you'll go somewhere different tomorrow. Seeing the same railway scenery gets boring after a while.
