Adding the orange and yellow highlights was such a good decision. Often it’s the finishing touches that bring the whole thing together

This dude does what I do which is get the miniature to a more than acceptable spot then say to myself "let me dial it in a tad bit more"; cuts to hours later still painting the same mini lol

That’s a gorgeous dragon! I appreciate how much you went back and forth between the dry brushing and washes. It really helps make the tone variations in the hide feel natural. Painting the wood splinters to look like they’re burnt is a nice touch.
What was the prep like? Were there a lot of mold lines and gap filling you had to deal with?
Mold lines weren't too bad but yeah there were some big gaps that needed to be filled

As a noob I was watching you go back and forth lightening and darkening and my thinking was "is this necessary ". Having watched and seen the finished product, it may have been necessary but it certainly produced an unparalleled result. That is an amazingly beautiful dragon and the variation in the colour as a result of your process speaks for itself.

Good grief, that thing qualifies more as a full on figure model than it does a "miniature", for sure. What a beast! I wouldn't know what to do with something that ginormous on my tiny work table.
But really though. It was tough painting this guy! Kept hitting things with the wings 😆 Super fun though!

I love dragons too, just got Balagos from wizkids. I have never painted before but you make it look approachable! Your work looks amazing!
Glad you enjoyed it! Painting is super fun. It’s one of my favorite things to do. There’s just something about taking something with either no color or some color that’s not that great s as me turning it into something vibrant and awesome looking. It’s really not that difficult once you learn the steps and skills necessary. Then its just up to you to practice and hone them in! Wish you the best on your painting journey! How long did this particular model take? Can you estimate with just the painting and not the camera and video prep/editing?
I believe it took around 30 hours or so to paint this beast of a ‘mini’ 😆

Hi, do You use Vallejo MC stright into the airbrush or You`re tinning them first ? Is so, what are You using ?

OUTSTANDING!!!! I love it . Quick question, how do you get the army painter tones to not be sticky? I quit using them because no matter how much I thin them down they always make the mini feel tacky. Even if I use varnish.
That’s odd. I’ve never had an issue with it being tacky. They for sure all mixed up properly? That’s the only thing I can think of that’d possibly make their texture be strange. That of you got a screwy batch. 😳
@@BandaInku that might be my problem I didn't mix it right. I haven't tried since. I just use citadel washes now.

What are you using to Air brush the VMC paints. Do you thin and what product do you use in what ratio?

Glad you like it! I thin with water and Vallejo airbrush flow improver usually. The flow improver has a bit of retarder in it so the paint doesn’t dry as much on the tip 😎

Yeah I doubt you'll be able to find a 3D print of him. But Lord of the Print has some amazing dragons that are comparable! Have bought a couple of theirs myself.

Too beautiful to slay. But no wonder she's so angry - who wouldn't after stepping on those splinters. Loved the back and forth between the shadows and highlights. Q: Did you paint this to match a campaign, or as a stand-alone display figure?

Master Completionist? Or didnt know when to stop adding paint? There were so many bases and layers and dry brushings and washes. Didnt think it would end! There were so many points where I was like, if he finished now it would look amazing, then you just kept going!

@@BandaInku Inspired by this video, I recently purchased this dragon(mini, ha) on ebay and got it in my hands today. I think i personally have watched, rewatched, paused, rewound, and watched again different parts of this video to better understand the layers on this beast and remark at its beauty. Its not going to be an exact recreation of your ideas, but I am using this as reference for my completed piece. I hope the paint i give it is worthy of this great dragon. Thanks for putting together such a well done video and inspiring me down this path! Really appreciate the time and creativity that went into this piece.

So this dragon is part of the Time of Legends: Joan of Arc board game which I believe was only available through Kickstarter. They launched a 1.5 edition at the end of 2019 and if you want to get notified of when their late-pledge option is open you can sign up here: mailchi.mp/mythicgames/joa_notifyme_latepledge
If you've got access to a 3D printer there's also this great Kickstarter going on providing a ton of 3D printable dragons that you could go for as an alternative: www.kickstarter.com/projects/lair3d/legendary-dragons. I have had a few of them printed and they are super awesome.

Its a Wyvern not a dragon. A dragon has 4 feet and 2 wings not 2 feet and wings.
Sorry bro but this is not a dragon it's a really fancy ass wyvern but it ain't no dragon. This is the same trap game of thrones fell victim to. Dragons are large reptilian like lizards with large wings and 4 key word here FOUR limbs either 4 legs/feet or two legs and 2 arms. Wyvern are the same but they only have 2 legs and claws or hands built into their wings to act as limbs. This sculpt is amazing but u must stop calling it dragon
While that may be true, this figure's called the 'Legendary Dragon' by the creators of the Joan of Arc Board Game, so I will continue to call it 'Legendary Dragon' 😄
