Crafted already and it's absolutely going to be glued to my guardian. I always feel like I can fire this at max rate of fire without too much adjustment the gun recoil just feels... right. The sights are great, the sound is great, and what a looker it looks so good with many different shaders. It's a terrific weapon for consistent dueling at very solid ranges. And I can run it with Duality. It's a pvp home run.
I give you immense credit for giving an honest evaluation of something especially at a time when a lot of players vaults have "all bases covered"/"nothing to chase". Sure it's not going to be everyone's tea if the standout perks for the job never really clicked for person's overall "feel" and playstyle, but we gotta take these weapons that fill some holes as we get em and it's a double bonus if it's something that somebody newer never really had in the first place.
I see what you're talking about w/ the "Destiny 1 DNA" Thing. I remember a really slim Handcannon from New Monarchy being similarly slim, and it was one of my favorites
@@quentinb734 for real. Honestly, it's kind of a pain in the ass because it's really hard to decide which one to choose. I spent 10 minutes going through my shaders and there were about 50 that I thought looked so good
"the only thing that matters, is clicking heads" heavily underrated statement. Its easy to get lost in stats and perks, and forget that no matter how good a gun is, if you can't click on heads you will be losing most of your gunfights
For those who find the gun off to use, try using either Extended Barrel or a Counterbalance mod. The one stat that's lower than normal on this gun is recoil direction, either one of these should fix that.
It's criminal the perk pool is what it is though, like by God you could swap out Gutshot for Hatchling, Invisible Hand for Snapshot, there's just some of these perks you could easily swap out for something to give this gun a little more Strand build potential or niches no other handcannon has. Like Snapshot and Eye of the Storm would be amazing.
Kept Confidence is peak "It just plays nice", there's a bunch of weapons that people consider to be bad or underwhelming just play nice, I'm not that big of a fan of the Crucible, but when I got a decent roll for it, I just played for hours because it was just fun.
Glad you referenced the similarity to the AoS stat split. That was one reason why I couldn't get behind all those who were saying it's mid. It's not mid, it's elite in a field of elites. And yet it still hangs in there.
I crafted the AoS split, as I think the sb split everyone is going for seems okay. And I can’t put my finger on why but I don’t love it, the range feels slightly off even tho it’s great on paper. Something with the recoil too even tho I have 100 direction. Maybe it’s because I’ve been using igneous for 3 days, but what’s your opinion on the AoS split ?
@@jpmorgan6146 Thanks for asking. I find the lower aim assist hits it hard. Though I find using all the aim assist mods fixes the issue neatly, including the recoil weirdness. Flinch is still an issue, but that's to be expected. I STRONGLY suspect that there's some custom tuning going on under the Ace's hood that's influencing its behavior in spite of its stats. AoS doesn't seem to flinch so hard.

What surprised me the mosts is how good this feels in PVE. maybe it's the hand cannon buff but I'm enjoying it. Crafting Stats for All + MKC for PVE and EOTS + KW for PVP..
It's interesting because I've never been a hand Cannon main. I've mostly been pulse rifles and sidearms. And just recently I decided to take out the kept confidence role in My vault that has Arrowhead break with hammer forged accurized, quick draw and eye of the storm. With a range masterwork. It feels incredibly comfortable
Out of everyone that I watch that reviews weapons I can honestly say that I wait for yours the most. Keep up the amazing reviews. Bring back crucible tips if possible.
I was really surprised this handcannon hasn’t been getting more love. It seems very similar to austringer which is amazing. As a hunter though can’t give up the mobility from rose
If you're running Behemoth Titan, you can use your Stasis crystals to make shards for Collective Action in the 4th column, which is a 10% damage bump to allow 2H1B kills. Not TTK altering, but free damage for more forgiveness isn't NOTHING, right?
Hey man, just wanted to thank you for always presenting the information in such a clean way and giving the weapons you review a real test with most perks and unique combos. Always a pleasure to watch
A similar video to this from True Vanguard about the Spare Rations.. A lot of sweaty youtubers put the videos out that it was mid so I was going to ignore it until I saw his video and breakdown and then I went all in for a roll.. I have a 4/5 Spare Rations now that I absolutely love and I'm so glad I focused that one the most. This is another one of those videos. Thank you for breaking it all down and doing the homework on everything! I'm sold, cant wait to get one crafted!
Honestly, for how easy it is to get and craft this HC, the stats are pretty crazy. Bungie said they give easier-to-get loot worse stats (Spare Rations/Waking Vigil are good examples), but this thing is incredibly easy to get and can easily compete against other handcannon stat monsters while also *feeling* better than most of them
What you pointed out about the weapon model relative to the sights. You made me realize why I don't like Rose. Statistically, it's everything I should want in a HC. The archetype, the lightweight frame 140, is everything I should want in a 140. The perk pool, has combos unique to it that I love more than that on other HCs. But, I don't like it as much as Kept Confidence or Spare Rations. The sights. They're too close to the gun model. I long for the day that lightweight 140s can be allowed to be their own archetype. I'll trade that range and stability for handling, aim assist, and movement speed any day of the week - because it fits my playstyle better. I dont need the 150rpm ttk. I want the mobility. (And man, I still miss the passive movement speed boost of bottom tree arcstrider - and, no, I don't like stompees, I weirdly don't like the extra jump height, especially when I prefer to use other exotics and have their perks.)
Crafted this on the very first day of the season. Got lucky with some red drops and I had enough harmonizers in my season pass that I was able to get my hands on this. Tried it with gutshot at first, but it felt like I was fighting the gun a little bit just trying to secure the kill until I switched to EOTS and it just felt better. I think it's my go-to pvp handcannon now after palindrome.
I just got my fifth red border yesterday. (which in itself is insane). I will definitely be crafting this. I fell into the trap of looking at the initial stats and thinking it was going to be bad. But then I got a killing wind roll. I took it into PVP and I was frying. Which I usually don't do with 140s as I'm a 180 type of guy
as soon as i got this weapon on my first spire run i knew it FELT great. all these other creators are complaining about its stats even though its stats are still very competitive Edit: im also an oddball and love the feel of d.f.a
I have to agree with you about this Hand Cannon 100%. Its great for pvp, feels great, has great perks, and Killing Wind and Eye of the Storm will be the perks I will be crafting on it.Have been using one with those perks but its a stability mw, so only 63 Range. Cant wait till Reset when I will get another Red Border and i can craft it. Keep up the great work man.
Reminds me of the Fulcrum. D1 FWC Hand Cannon. Loved that thing to death. Slim model like that might be the only reason I use it alone. Even IF the stats were drastically worse than other 140’s. Just wanted to put in my 2 cents, love the content, keep it up! :)
Oddly enough i fell in love with my gutshot roll, enough to enhance it. 2 head one body making it more forgiving has helped me more times than I ever thought it would. Ive barely noticed the lack of AA
I really like the feel of this one and maybe its the profile like you explained. I typically struggle to land shots with handcannons, even the big hitters, but this one feels great for me. Still need to craft it though
honestly the best way to build stats on those hand cannons you showed ever since the range changes is not "stair" style unless you have a handling boosting effect, it's better to go with a bell curve shape on most builds. Something like ricochet / accurized, fluted / crossfire, and range MW on fatebringer, eyasluna, or pally
PREACH, brother! The PVE perks aren't great, but my god this thing feels phenomenal in PVP! I was debating between Quickdraw and Killing Wind, and I think you sold me on the latter.
I feel like I’ve finally graduated from Cool Guy Academy as I crafted mine almost exactly like your top roll a few days ago. Thanks for the continued great content.
The very first time I used Austringer for the first time it instantly felt great for me. Haven’t felt that instant enthusiasm for a gun since then. Until this bad boy…
It’s good, but palindrome is still better imo. My roll has 9 more range, 8 more stability, 6 more handling, 3 more reload, 4 more aim assist, 2 more AE. Slim model just the same, and QuickDraw just the same. Eye of the storm is great, but is it worth literally every stat being worse? Often substantially? I personally don’t think so.
As we edge closer and closer to peak powercreep, feel is going to be the most important deciding factor with weapons in competing archetypes. And the seasonal weapons this time around have it in spades. Especially Kept Confidence and Brya's.
Even the audio for this weapon is great! Would love to have that shown in the videos more. Speaking of, if anyone’s seen Lego’s video on the seasonal fusion.. whew. My blinklock is very curious to try it out.
literally the first thing I said when I looked at the new weapons on the table: these look from vog or D1 base knew they would shine one way or another
This is the only gun i can run gutshot straight on. And i have yet to use it with enhanced gutshot. The buff to the perk, along with how easy it is to hit your shots with this gun, really makes it actually worthwhile in my opinion
This gun is the perfect callback to The Devil You Know, my first and easily my favorite handcannon in all of Destiny. Might actually play around with a Killing Wind/Gutshot Straight roll for rolling this in the close-mid range with a sniper.
The moment I saw this hand cannon in the API day 1 I knew I was gonna chase it. The stats are solid. The perks are decent. The gun model and sound are amazing. My clanmates were convinced it would be very mid, but it slaps. The sound and the realistic proportioned gun model are amazing. Running it on strand with Air Assault instead of killing wind. I appreciate the passive AE bump. With the base AE, Air assault, and knucklehead radar im sitting at like 50 AE. 1 kill, or activating my grapple gets that closer to 90. It's insane
I'm very thankful for everything you've taught me about weapon rolls. My friends call me the roll encyclopedia now. If a legendary hand cannon doesn’t have explosive payload or firefly/dragonfly then I don’t bother with it. I am really enjoying Malediction and Nation of Beasts right now.
Went flawless this weekend with a random roll invisible hand/eye of the storm roll. By far the best feeling HC I’ve personally used, eyasluna being a distant second. Can’t wait to craft my KW/EOTS roll
its undeniable that theres something special about this gun, stats and rolls may not be impressive but it does have that secret sauce. something that just snags crits. and i chalk it up to the clean sight and gun model like what CG said. it havent used such a good feeling handcannon in a very very long time.
I have heard a lot of negativity around Kept Confidence -- it doesn't have the perks, it doesn't have the stats, why would I use that when I could use [this] instead?, etc., etc. With weapons that will be craftable, I don't usually look too hard at what perks are available until I get the pattern unlocked, I just try out the drops I get and see how they feel. With all of my drops for Kept Confidence, I've really liked the way it feels, and I say this as someone who is not big on hand cannons (I'm actually really picky about them). Definitely going to craft one now. Thanks, CG!
@coolguygames You have taught me well! I crafted the exact same roll as you enforce this video came out, based on the information you've presented from previous videos! Another top video, thanks again
I actually went for the scout rifle first this season, I exclusively play PVP and im happy with my 120 RPM Targeted Redaction to be honest. Just loved to see a D1 model scout for the first time in a while 😊
This is the main reason my Dire Promise has more total kills than almost every other legendary HC in my inventory combined. The gun model is so slim and the sound of it is really punchy. I can't wait to get a crafted version of this thing.
Adore the stats and look, it just doesn't have the perks I like - If I could get something like Moving Target or Perpetual Motion, maybe Rapid Hit or Snapshot in column one I'd be all over it, but I've just never liked Quickdraw much, and Killing Wind has always been a sort of meh pick for me.
I left a comment saying I didn’t like this gun, I was wrong. It’s become my favourite hc I love it. I was a 120 user and I was struggling with the three crits but after a week or two I got used to it and I’m winning so many duels. Beautiful sights and a stunning gun model especially with a trials momento 😍

I thought all the first week reviews of this gun was just all hype being a new HC available. After the first reset I got 5 red boarders and crafted my own. Copied Frost's God Roll version. Took it into PVP and loved it. Probably the only 140 I really like. I prefer 120's but this gun feels crispy.
it makes me want to get a nerf or adventure force revolver and custom paint it marble green and add gold accents because how bloody pretty the kept confidence HC is

Man i wish this HC has Outlaw + Hatchling
This is how I'm starting to know I craft things properly. If I got the same roll as CoolGuy I'm doing something right 🤜🤛
Great stuff as always
It's beastly in pvp as it hits so friggin hard.
Yup waited for your review. Didn’t disappoint. Kept Confidence is my main HC now.
That AE stat with air assault is so tempting
Damn, a lot of people tried to talk it down, but it's a great thing that you Kept Confidence.
I actually went for the scout rifle first this season, I exclusively play PVP and im happy with my 120 RPM Targeted Redaction to be honest. Just loved to see a D1 model scout for the first time in a while 😊
See the scout rifle im enjoying way more than this hand cannon personally the expierience is more enjoyable with bryas love
If they gave this thing Hatchling, it would replace round Robin for my go to pve strand cannon
Can't believe you opted out of the Frosted Flakes joke
This is the main reason my Dire Promise has more total kills than almost every other legendary HC in my inventory combined. The gun model is so slim and the sound of it is really punchy. I can't wait to get a crafted version of this thing.
I've got 30,000+ kills on my Killing Wind Hawkmoon. I was sold on that perk years ago in your Hawkmoon review
Bungie made realistic height over bore gun stuff based on what is being said about the sights
Mr. CoolGuy, woe is me! Hark! I have missed my The Devil You Know so. My soul aches. 2:18
Nice. Really looking forward to your lucus locutus review.
I suck with hand cannons and I find this one amazing for pvp..it doesn't miss
Thank you for all your hard work making these videos all these year! Your insights are the best out there!
I threw it on for the first time in a strike. What the hell, it felt amazing lol
THANK YOU. i been saying it was at least very decent from the 1st day, felt nearly perfect off the bat imo
Crafted it a couple days ago and I’m alreayd on 2000 crucible kills with it honestly feels so smooth and accurate also pairs extremely well with the strand weapon kills create tangles thingy 10/10 hand cannon
Tbh I crafted this gun when the szn dropped only based on looks and I haven’t put it down yet… 10/10 investment
I crafted this for pve and I run it on hunter with lucky pants. Stats for all collective action. It's so much fun

Looks really similar to my all time favorite handcannon water star
I thought all the first week reviews of this gun was just all hype being a new HC available. After the first reset I got 5 red boarders and crafted my own. Copied Frost's God Roll version. Took it into PVP and loved it. Probably the only 140 I really like. I prefer 120's but this gun feels crispy.
I love this things sound. Its like hitting someone with a fish. Excelent
it makes me want to get a nerf or adventure force revolver and custom paint it marble green and add gold accents because how bloody pretty the kept confidence HC is
What makes a weapon?
My willingness to hurt someone with it.
And the pointy bits on the side, do that to anything and it's a weapon
