The Land Rover Discovery is brilliant on- and off-road. The classy cabin has space for seven, plus superb versatility and excellent levels of refinement.
The big mirrors and bluff windscreen create a fair bit of wind noise. It's expensive to run, either privately or as a company car.

Have it new since 2012, no issues , changed four tires, one recall, nothing else, amazing so far, from NYC,
Had a Cherokee, swapped it for a Disco 4. Really no comparison; ride, handling, equipment, off-road, disco out-performs in every category. V6 twin turbo is superb and reasonable running costs. Fantastic car for Australia.
What all of you are saying about land rover reliability is rubbish. I have had my discovery for around 3 years now and Haven't had any problems.

great car, had problems with the battery and fuel gauge. other than that amazing car.
I bought the latest disco 4 landmark 66 plate (16) only done just over 25000 now gave air suspension issues , other than that it’s a nice car
Can expect less for this wonderful Land Rover Discovery 4...5 stars! About the limitless space in the trunk with the 2 others seats up its normal
The Grand Cherokee is no small city car, it fact it sits in the same size class as the Discovery. I'd say there both pretty close off road two, cosnider they have the same sort of off road technology

If you own isiss or a oil well then buy a petrol, you can get 33 mpg on a 2.7 D

Buy low mileage and change oil sooner
Mines a 2010 with 78000 . Tows our large caravan all over the UK, in all weathers with ease. Owned for 3 years, one suspension sensor issue fixed for £150 . Averages 30mpg towing and more solo. Change oil every 6 months and let the engine idle for a few minutes after hard use to allow the turbos to cool slowly and all will be good. I've owned x3 landcruisers previously , all were good but the disco has better performance and so far equal reliability!

Have a go at at your local reliability surveys and prepare to be embarrassed. Pitiful Disco looks like a bobble head on tires on a small curb lmfao
Not this model.. And BMW are rubbish for electrics and Mercedes breakdown and fall apart.. The only issues were early Discovery 3!

Aha, may be it's american cars that do any good? The only way they know to build a car is a straight line. Want a fast car? Put a V8 with lots HP in. Jeep that goes anywhere? Same stuff. In the end, they loose and suck to everybody from Koreans to Europe. A pity examples of - i'd say - engiNEARing. NEAR but never hit...
5 star for ownership?! This is consistently rated as one of the least reliable cars and their levels of depreciation is on par with German cars...... I wonder what facts they are basing this on.
+NickLiang The reliability is based on MOT failure statistics, the main one with disco being the break discs due to people driving too fast and breaking too hard. It is a 2.7 tonne vehicle after all. Dont drive like a nonce, and you will be fine.
