    Hi Jayne! My first pen was the Lamy Safari, medium nib. It's what sent me down the rabbit hole because I was trying to find a pen that had an extra-fine nib, metal barrel material and a waterproof black ink that was more affordable than cartridges. I wanted to use my pen for work and had no control over the paper. I had no intentions of upgrading my notebooks or journals from non-fountain pen friendly books. So a dry ink in a dry extra-fine pen was the way to go. But then...but then! I found fountain pen social media. And the rest is history.
    I've found that I love all fountain pens of all shapes and sizes, and all nib types now. The only one I may have issue with is the Pilot EF (I've only tried Andrew's Pilot Petit in EF which had a dry orange ink in it), and Sailor F (I tried it 1.5yrs ago, when I didn't understand what "feedback" was)
    My current favourite EDC is the Ferris Wheel Press Carousel nib because it's in my favourite colour (pink!) and is a snap cap. I bring it to work every day. I've been trying the Kaweco Sport for the past week, but I think I will go back to the FWP pen. At home, my favourite pen is the Leonardo Furore (my pride and joy!) stub nib. I have far too much fun matching pen and ink colour. My favourite nib size is the Omniflex because it's so smooth and bouncy. If the Furore could have the Omniflex nib, I'd be set. But...I'd never change that rose-gold nib for another, lol.
    Stephen does amazing work with your pens! I loved the one with the custom Platinum section. I remember you telling me about it. It was a dream to write with. I cannot wait to get a custom pen one day. I plan to save it for a very special occasion in future. :D

      Hello Mel, got to hand it to those Lamy pens, I think they have possibly led millions of people down the rabbit hole 😂 I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised by the FWP Carousel pen, it’s a lovely little writer. I do not have any Leonardo’s, I think that is something I would like to add to my wishlist! I must admit, I love trying to match my pens to different ink colours, its probably the most fun part of the hobby for me. That and having way too many pens inked up to write letters and play with 😂 Thank you so much for watching lovely, goodluck either way your exam this week and take care 😊

    My first fountain was one from a local shop and we were told in school that fountain pen is the best for handwriting. The disdain for ball point pens was real for that teacher.

    I love my Sailor gold nibs because you can’t beat the prices! I just recently purchased an Esterbrook Estie Maui and I am in Canada so it was pricey for a steel nib. As for my Kawecos sports I have Macchiato in double broad and Iridescent in Medium but not to crazy how they write.

    • @jppenandink
      @jppenandink  8 місяців тому +1

      Hi there, I must admit, it took me 7 years in the pen hobby before I purchased a Sailor because the reviews of their ‘feedback’ had put me off, but now I am a complete convert and absolutely love them 🤩 Yes the Esterbrook’s are pricey for a steel nib. In Australia they retail for $300+ 😮 Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video. I hope you have a wonderful weekend 😊

    I don't know why, but I'm just not drawn to Sailor pens, or the Pilot VP. I do like Esterbrook pens ( I have two ) and the Pilot E95s is on my wish list. I have a Unicorn Horn turned by Jonathan Brooks. It's so sparkly and fun to use. The issues you had with your Platinum definitely turns me away from that brand. They aren't cheap, to be having rusting and cracking issues. I'll mabe; eventually; get the Jade Twisbi Eco. I was never interested until I got the Indigo/Bronze and love holding it and watching the ink flow, and it writes so well. I have a FWP Carousel pen and I was blown away by how well it writes, and by how much joy a little plastic pen can give.

      Hi Teresa, thank you so much for watching. I have been in this hobby for 8-9 years and this year was the first time I ventured down the Sailor route. I must admit I was apprehensive about their feedback, but absolutely love them. Yes although I like the Platinum nibs, I’m not sure I would ever buy another pen, just too hexy to have issues. I love my Unicorn Horn, it always puts a smile on my face 😊

    Lovely collection! 😍 I am planning on getting the PGS Kaguya pen. I have another PGS and I love it so I'm sure I'll love that one too. My favourite writer continues to be the rather inexpensive Muji fountain pen. The Shmit nib is so good! Late this year I started experimenting with different nibs so I guess that's how my journey will continue for a bit 😊

      I think my fave at the moment is my Platinum 3776 with a soft fine nib- I love the feeling of it on the page. I’ve got the same Pelikan M400 white Tortoise as you with the fine nib- it is constantly inked up with either a brown or green ink. My 1st fountain pen was a Parker that my parents gave me when I was at uni years and years ago. I still have it but I prefer my newer pens.

    Lovely collection Jane! Those Just Turning pens are beautiful! My current favorite pen is my Pilot Custom 823. It was a grail pen I put off getting but finally got off Amazon. Still debating whether I should have gone with a medium nib but the fine is beautiful. My first pen was a Kaweco Sport and I find my tastes are continually evolving after 2 years in the hobby.

    • @jppenandink
      @jppenandink  9 місяців тому +1

      I have been eyeing off the Pilot Custom 823 too, I think the vac filling system put me off a little but the Wingsung is slowly changing my mind. I believe they are beautiful writers and everyone says they are worth the $$$ you pay for them. It’s interesting how our tastes change over time isn’t it. Thank you so much for watching my video Brittany and for your comment, this is the part I love, conversing and nerding out about pens with people 😂 Take care and have a lovely day/evening 😊
