Hello!! Finally back to some decent wifi (haha) and can watch your video! I received your letter today - I did beat it home. I got my first Jinhao 82 on Monday (special grind from FP Aus Chris and I love love love it). In sad news I dropped one of my Kakuno’s before I left and the nib is now scratchy as - I have another and have been so pleasantly surprised by how amazing they write - so smooth!
@@suista hi Suzanne, welcome back! Oh that is sad about your Kakuno 😢 They are great little writers. What was the grind you got on your Jinhao? You will have to write and tell me all about it 😊

What's up Jayne! I happened to be counting since you mentioned it. I counted 87 pens. 12:03 - My first pen with the LAMY Safari in Yellow. I still have it too. I enjoy writing with LAMY's. I have my eye on perhaps 1 Mont Blanc in the future. I really think that after I get a pen like that, I should retire and go into the mountains and write til my hearts content with that thing. 😁 Well it's 7:30pm Sunday and your voice put me to sleep. 🥱Watch me wake up as soon as I lay down.💜

What a gorgeous pen collection! 😍 Thank you for sharing! I appreciated your reminder that it can take time to curate a collection like this. As a beginner, I sometimes feel overwhelmed with choice and options, but videos like yours are wonderful for giving me ideas on what I might like to consider in the future. Jayne, so restatined! Only twelve pens. A very nice lineup; pens and inks. I recently swatched all of my ink samples so now I can make more informed decisions on the inks I put into my pens. I had to take all of the samples out and check the colours previously.
@@raybuck hi Ray, thank you. I am still to catch up on all my ink swatching, need to set aside a few days for it because I am just so behind. Did a bit of an inventory today, always good to start the year off working out what you actually have as opposed to what you ‘think’ you might have 😂 Thank you so much for watching, I hope you have a great week 😊
Happy New Year, Jayne ! 🎉 I had a tiny crack in the section of a Sailor Pro Gear Mini which always leaked and it took me a while to see where the problem was. Since I had a cheap Sailor Procolor 500 that I wasn‘t using, I swapped the sections (pulling out the nib first… of course I wanted to keep the 14K one in the Mini;) and now it performs perfectly again. I even like the color mix better than before - it‘s the Zyne Pink that has a white section now… 😊 Oh, and pairing the Cashmere Rose with the pink/white Koloro is such a great idea… I have Monteverde Cherry Danish in mine at the moment, but when that runs out, I‘ll try Cashmere Rose for sure. ❤ Have a wonderful year and don‘t let frustrated internet trolls ruin your spirit ! 😊
@@Heidejournal hi Kirsten, thank you so much for watching lovely and for the tip re Sailor. I’m hoping it’s not a cracked section but I had a Sailor Converter in it last time when the same thing happened and thought it was the converter, so this time tried a Sailor cartridge in it and the same thing is happening. I’ll take a closer look at it and see if I can do something similar to what you did and see how it goes. Lovely lineup as always. Your Just Turnings Alaskan Sunrise is beautiful; perfect for summer!! What a shame about your Sailor, hope it is something you can correct. I've finally finished swatching all of my bottled ink yesterday, now on to the samples. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
@@Tina.Journals hi lovely, swatching inks is such a fun job. I still need to do mine, but I’m hoping to spend some time on it in the coming weeks. I’m hoping to rediscover some that I’ve forgotten about. Hoping it’s something I can fix with the Sailor. I’m a little disheartened. Last time I had a converter in it and it happened, this time it’s a sailor cartridge that I filled with a syringe. It’s happened with both, so now I’m going to check that the nib is seated correctly. Thank you so much for watching my friend, I hope you have a lovely weekend 😊
I want to start by saying you have lovely inks and pens this month as usual. I also want to say that when someone is rude and mean, that is a reflection of them and their miserable life and not a reflection of you. Hi Jayne, A wonderful pick for January pen and inks. For the Sailor, it sounds like the converter may be the problem, a crack or not seated well and maybe coming off.
@@tawallah77 well I have a cartridge in it at the moment and I had a converter in it last time. I remember thinking that the converter must be broken, but now it’s happening with the cartridge too. I’m going to have another look at the housing later today. This happened with my Platinum 3776 Nice Lavender many years ago, the housing had a tiny crack that just got worse and eventually the pen was unusable. I’m hoping it’s not that. Hopefully it’s just a nib issue. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 Thank you so much for watching lovely and Happy New Year 🥳
@ yikes, sounds like it may be the housing indeed. Oh dear. Will you remove the bib and get another body made for the bib then?
@ I’m not sure yet, hoping it’s not that. I could get Stephen of Just Turnings to make me a body for the nib. I do have a blank that screws onto the nib section, but if it’s the nib section then I’m not going to be able to do that. Anyway, first world problems, got to keep things in perspective 😊
I have watched almost all of your videos. I don't remember anything standing out as offensive in any way. I don't know why people have become so easily offended by the most innocent things. I would take their comment as something much more offensive because it was meant to hurt and attack. Please take those sorts of comments as not being worthy of your pain. Thanks for another pleasant video.
Thank you John, I appreciate your kind words, I just felt awful that I had offended anyone. Thank you for watching, supporting my channel and encouragement 🙏🏻
Lovely selections for January. I still have to make my own selections for the month I was excited to see that you had Alaskan sunrise amongst your choices. I just purchased one from Scribepens from Etsy. It's coming from the UK and should be here maybe at the end of the week. I love the colors and reminds me of spring colors and is very cheery. I also have the ivory Lamy. The only issue with that pen is that the body has a little texture to it. I wish it had more of the regular smooth finish. But it's an attractive pen. I do have the E95 on my future buy list. I agree with you that those creators who ink it up say it's a great writer but I often do not see people use it too often. Happy New year!
@@christinemcgregor9970 hi Christine, Happy New Year 🥳 Looks like we are twinning with some of our pens 😊 I really enjoy writing with my E95s, it is in regular rotation amongst my pens, a great pocket pen. Can’t wait for you to get your Alaskan Sunrise, the material is gorgeous 🤩

@@tracey2477 Happy New Year my friend 🥳
Happy New Year! If your Sailor pen is leaking into the back and front of the pen, it sounds like it might be a problem with the converter. I have had one of their converters fall apart when I was cleaning out a pen. They aren’t made the best and are pretty cheap to replace; then you will know if it is a problem with the pen or with the converter. Don’t worry about offending people because people seem to get offended really easily online because they don’t know the person or the person’s intentions; I am Korean, I have watched you for awhile, and I knew you just didn’t know what language it was and were simply naming languages you could think of trying to figure out which one. From my perspective, it was like you knew it was made in China and was probably written in Chinese but couldn’t think of the word “Chinese” or “Mandarin” at the moment. It happens to everyone.
@@bootsmama1027 thank you so much for your understanding, I was so cross with myself for not knowing/naming the correct language 🤦🏼♀️ I have a Sailor cartridge in it that I refilled. Last time I had the Sailor converter in it and thought it was that, but now I’m starting to wonder. The same thing happened with my Platinum 3776 Nice Lavender, it cracked completely. It seems to be something to do with the material these demonstrators are made out of. I should learn my lesson and not buy anymore like this ;) Happy New Year and I hope 2025 is a wonderful year to you 🥰
@ I still feel bad that someone made you feel like you did something wrong. You simply didn’t know the language you were looking at and said the languages that came to mind that use character letters. It isn’t a big deal.

@@pilesofthings hi there, Happy New Year. I usually give it a week or so and then if I don’t hear back from the winner, I move onto the next person. Sorry, I still have the bee one available from this month if you would like that? Please let me know. Have a great weekend 😊
@jppenandink oh wonderful, I would love the bee one if still not taken when I post this ♥️ thank you

Happy New year 🎆 I agree with the Pilot, beautiful writer, the prude is excellent. I did get mine about a month ago. I’ve been thinking about the same kaweco! Love green.

Jayne, don't let Nasty or mean people steal your thunder. You put up amazing content, and I love your videos
@@rebeccadombroski-guglielmo1588 hi Rebecca, that is so kind of you to say. I felt dreadful that I had offended people, but it was an honest mistake. Thank you for being here and for your encouragement, it is greatly appreciated! Wishing you only good things for 2025 😊
@@jppenandink Your regular viewers totally knew what you meant from the context, Jayne. There was no confusion. You made perfect sense and it was obvious to us that there no absolutely no ill intent.
@ thank you Steve 🙏🏻
Thanks Jayne! Happy 2025 to you. Congrats on your Kaweco Al-Sport - a real stunner! ✨ I considered the Pilot E95s for my first gold nib and I ended up going for a Sailor Pro Gear Slim <EF>. I guess the look of the pilot and it's semi-hooded nib did not appeal to me at the time. The E95S receives such high praise and I am glad that you like it. They are really popular it seems. I also have a Pilot Grance (in pearl white, also with an EF nib) which has a solid gold nib - albeit a relative small nib. It is an underrated pen and not very popular in the FP community but I love mine and it is constantly inked with brighter inks
@@storge306 hi Steve, I think the reason the Pilot E95s is so popular is because it’s just such a great writer. Like you, I wasn’t so fussed on the design of it at first, but it has grown on me and I just love the way it writes. How do you find your EF nib on your Sailor? Your Pilot pen sounds like a lovely writer. I find Pilot pens very reliable, it’s no surprise they have such a huge market share of the fountain pen community. Have a great weekend my friend 😊
@@jppenandink You have reminded me that the primary reason for pens is to write - so I will have to revisit the Pilot E95s. I was never too keen on hooded nibs at first but now I am saving up to buy a Pilot VP. Evidently, tastes and preferences change. My Sailor PGS is such a unique pen in that the nib writes like nothing else. It is a rather wet-writer for an EF. Like the one in your video though, I think I need to have the nib tuned because I may have inadvertently applied too much pressure when writing with it at first. The pen was my first gold nib after all and I was new to the hobby at the time and still getting used to things. 🌼 Happy Days 🌼
@ as long a it writes he way you want Steve, that’s all that matters 😊 I agree with what you are saying, preferences do change over time, my tastes have totally changed to what they were in the beginning. Have a good evening Steve 😊
what a bummer about the sailor. I have 2 Sailor pro gear and 2 sailor pro gear slims and while I like them, they are very particular when it comes to ink and paper. My Pro gears (regular size) are medium bubs and they are almost too juicy and the 21K nibs are almost too soft for me and I feel I have to be so careful. I am always tempted by the beautiful colors in the Sailors, but the writing experience is not my favorite. I love their style, but I probably won't be buying any more going forward. The ones I have are enough, even though they constantly tempt me.
@@impish22 hi Marie, I think you are right, the Sailor colour ways are very tempting, but like you said, it’s a fine balance trying to get the right ink to put in then. I’m quite sad about this Blue Green Nebula PGS, it was a limited edition brought out in 2021 I believe and to have a cracked section or the housing of the nib cracked is making this one unusable. I do have 2 other PGS and although they are possibly the most inexpensive ones to buy, they are more reliable than this one. Thank you so much for watching, and Happy New Year 🥳
While all of the pens and inks are beautiful, my fave today is the Opus 88 Koloro Pink and White. I am also so behind in my ink swatching. Thanks for sharing.
@@MarcellHobbs hi Marcy, Happy New Year lovely 🥳 Yes the pairing between the Opus 88 Koloro and the Cashmere Rose is close to perfect! I’m glad I am not the only one behind on my ink swatching 😂 Take care and have a great weekend 😊
Happy New Year! 🎉 It’ll be nice to see how your collection expands and the journal(s) filled with new and exciting colours.
@@PokhrajRoy. hello Pokhraj, Happy New Year my friend, thank you for being here. I hope 2025 is a great year for you 🥳
@ Thank you!
Thanks, Jayne Some great choices. Paperblanks are great and I have a few of them with a spare ready to go. My current journal is a no frills A4/365/dotted/Hardcover. I really do like the dedicated Pen Friend address/log-book idea. As you know all too well, I am terrible at being a pen friend and I think that having a dedicated address book would work wonders for me personally.
