I've had KRK RP8 G2s for the last 7 years. They're fed by an Audiolab MDAC+ over XLR. I use them near-field as PC speakers at reasonably low volumes with the Optimal Transient XD filter on the MDAC, and honestly I can't imagine anything sounding nicer. It's the most immersive and euphoric listening experience I've ever had, and I own some nice headphones. My KRKs are the one purchase where the novelty never wore off, they just keep giving.
Please review the 2 state of the art active speakers:
1. Kii Three
2. Dutch 8c
ATC SCM 40A beats both of these with a far more natural timbre and resonance that DSP systems struggle to emulate.
Sience im student and I have limited listening space in my "mans cave" (approx 3x3m) I have cheap setup with Logitech duo + Dacmagic plus + Yamaha HS-8M where receiver and dac are powered with ifi iPower power suplys. In second hand market all setup would cost maybe some +/- 600eur. I'm very satisfied with sound quality contra my equipment performance level and price. I don't think I could get so much better sounding solutions in that price range if I would go for passive speaker system. I think active speakers in many situations are good solution where space and budget are limited. In future I would like to own pair of PSI audio A21M. Thank you Hans for another good lesson! :)
Hi Hans
I have Active loudspeakers, Meridian DSP3200 and the 218 streamer. Have you listened to these Speakers before? What did you think? Regards Danny.
Please review the KEF LS50W, they have a good reputation.
Sorry but KEF doesn’t loan me products
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel Ahh, too bad. Thank you for this video!!
I owned the powered LS50 and sold them..
They sound good but it's a small sound because it's a small speaker..
I replaced them with a pair of full-size tower speakers..
@@Miskatonik Wonder if we could sign a petition. I'd be really interested in hearing Hans's views on it.
Thank you for responding. The Kii loudspeaker system is indeed expensive, but when one considers that the Kii or similar active / DSP loudspeakers essentially make redundant the amplifiers, preamplifier and even the DAC itself if one so desires, with fully integrated and optimized components. The dollar value is commensurate .
I am a happy Naim /Duntech owner at home and have extensive experience with fully active studio and commercial PA installations and their synergistic benefits . Knowing that if so desired I could easily replace four or even six of my seperate components is a direction that I feel will be inevitable for me. I was fascinated with the Devialet Phantoms but they are a bit too "lifestyle" for me . I hope to audition the Kii system soon.
Please keep up your good work , we really do appreciate your perspective.
Could you consider reviewing the Kanto Yu6? They're a relatively cheap active speaker that's had some good reviews, and I'm curious what you think.
Since I can't donate at this time I'll link your work instead.
Keep your ----- with yourself 👍👏
Kii Audio active loudspeakers look promising... Active speakers will no doubt be the way of the future.
The KII speakers are beyond the scope of this channel, price wise that is.
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel Have you heard the Kii Three speakers Hans? Keen to hear your professional opinion.. :)
I never have opinions about products I didn’t review. Sorry.
thank you sir
Most welcome
Would you consider giving a presentation on Planer/ribbon speakers. I have heard that their sound quality is exceptional in the mid and high frequency ranges to that of cone speakers and they project sound from both the front and back sides of the speaker surface. thank you.
I focus on streaming now, these speakers are a bit off topic.
Dp active speakers have issues with repairs and servicing? I get the impression that when there is a fault, one is asked to replace the whole system. Take for example the KEF LS50w active speakers, does KEF repair them out of warranty?
I don't know. But electronics like in active speakers are not likely to die on you soon.
Will you try NUC using Audiolinux? This is the new "Oh my god, best sound ever". :) People are saying using a NUC with audiolinux as NAA is better than SMS200Ultra and Ultrarendu.
I don’t think I will, but who knows.
Vwey inforative to me thanks
Can you do a review on dynaudio active speakers?
I will shortly, be patient.
The Hans Beekhuyzen Channel like like like. I’m running excite x14a now. I will probably looking into a step up as we are moving to a new house soon.
@@blakemakison5296 I own the Dynaudio Focus XD series with an Allo Digione source and they really are quite spectacular. Highly recommended.
Hi Hans,
I'm using a preamp (Schiit Asgard 2) with a variable RCA output to feed my Kef EGG active speakers. What would you advise regarding the settings of both volume-controls for the best sound quality?
Both KEF and Schiit won’t lend me review samples so I really can’t say. Sorry 😐
Thanks ! But I ment 'in general'. How to apply the volume of the pre-amp in relation to the volume-control of the active speakers. E.a. first or second volume control fully open?@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel
@@audiobean There are no absolute rules but I would set the sensitivity of the speakers so that when at - to your ears - loud but undistorted sound level, the pre-amp has its volume control at '2 o'clock'.
@@audiobean you should have the Preamp on maximum volume and adjust on the speakers as needed.
Please review B&W 605 S2
I limit myself to digital front-ends. Sorry
Please review Buchardt A500 or/and A700. Just relised this is my first comment ever on UA-cam. 😀
Sorry I don’t do passive speakers
