I totally agree regarding reg plates and stickers or dealer insignia everywhere. Clean is Cool 😎
For sure!
Uk Regulations say reg plates should be marked to show who supplied the number plate
A very very eager eyed MOT tester may fail you on it.
Coming together nicely. Did you not want to stick the plates on? The super, super clean look without the screw caps.
Thanks mate. I wanted to but the rear bumper has raised mounds so had to use screws.
I really would reccomend doing all the coolant lines front to back while you are at it now! If one is leaking as soon as summer comes they will all leak the fronts are probably completely corroded anyway and are going to need doing it ain’t hard to do
Great work again mate! Loving it.
Glad you enjoy it!
Great video! Keep up the awesome 987 content! Looking forward to buying my 987 this week. Your videos have been a huge help in shopping and doing research. Many thanks.
Thanks mate. Glad te videos were helpful. Let me know what one you get!
@@RoadandRacetv I actually just ended up with a well loved 987.1 in black on black. Loving every second of it! Keep up the great content as I want to keep following along
Hi, thoroughly enjoy your informative videos. I noticed your new plates are completely clean but I am pretty sure they need to have the plate manufacturers name/trade mark and post code on them by law. Keep up the good work Sir!
Thanks Martin. I didn't realise but loks like you're correct. Any idea why they require such?
@@RoadandRacetv Taken from www.gov.uk/displaying-number-plates/rules-number-plates Rules for number plates
The number plates on your vehicle must:
be made from a reflective material
display black characters on a white background (front plate)
display black characters on a yellow background (rear plate)
not have a background pattern
be marked to show who supplied the number plate
be marked with a British Standard number - this is ‘BS AU 145e’ for plates fitted after 1 September 2021
The characters must not be removable or reflective. If your number plates were fitted after 1 September 2021, they must also be a single shade of black.
Your number plates can also:
have 3D (raised) characters
display certain flags, symbols and identifiers
display a green flash, if you have a zero-emission vehicle
@@RoadandRacetvit’s so the police can check who printed the plates for cloning etc. Halfords used to do them in white relief so that you got the clean look but you can still tell who made them.
Great vid!
New plates. Yes! I always do this. Just put a new set on my L322.
No 3D. No 4D. Plain with a dark border imho.
And secured with plenty of good quality double sided pads. No screws to go rusty.
What I would say is that the boxster can take a larger rear plate like the Range Rover. To me it looks more pleasing to the eye.
I used one of those windscreen repair kits with a similar poor experience and after the next winter I was rewarded with a crack top to bottom right through the repair.
Wow. Glad to hear it's not just me though!
@@RoadandRacetv Certainly not just you mate them kits are just awful,,,I couldnt get a decent finish nor my dad whos been working on cars since the 70s...they just dont work at all...
Me too mate them kits suck,,i had same poor finish
Cracking video! 👍🏼 I’d love to see a video of you taking this little beauty around the Nurburgring! 😎
Cheers mate! As soon as the brakes are fixed I'll be taking her around a track. More liklely Bedford Autodrome than the Nurburgring but never say never!
@@RoadandRacetv has it ever been on your list of places to go? I wish I’d of taken my 986 around before I sold it. I’d ended up going in a Leon fr just wasn’t the same 😂
The windscreen repair was disappointing, but glad you kept the result in and included a summary of why it might not have been as effective as expected.
Thanks. I'm sure i did it wrong. I waited too long between steps. Will try again.
Keep us posted on the windshield fix! I had bought the same kit for the same repair but I haven't done it yet!
Will do!
Surprisingly your soft top is in good condition. No need to re-do the elastic straps?
Shame about the windscreen repair. I repaired one of similar size on my Integra with the Isopon kit and it worked reallt well. Proplates are good, they were the only company I could find that would create (slightly shortened) legal stick on number plates
This is going to sound dumb, but take a look at your wiper blades. Chances are that rubber has degraded and could stand a replacement. Save some money by buying just a spool of the rubber blade portion and cutting it down to size for your blades.
I continue to absolutely love your series, but also more importantly the 80s intro and background soundtrack! Where on earth did you get these from??
Big thanks Adam. The music ia by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio, he has his own UA-cam channel.
As much as you may like clean plates they are not road legal and you're risking getting pulled over!
Also if you are replacing the clutch and it's all apart rather than inspecting the IMS it would make sense to upgrade it for something that isn't risking your engine.
Yeah, I wouldn't take such chances in Britain, mate. British cops have so much time on their hands they can arrest people for twitter comments so they'd totally nab you for a minor plate violation 😂
Great video again! I've had exactly the same disappointing experience with one of those windscreen repair kits. Will you be paying any attention to the roof (waterproofing etc.)?
Thanks Chris. Glad to hear it's not just me! Yes, when I do a big clean I'll treat the roof. Have you any product sugestions?
@@RoadandRacetv
As an ex saab 9-3 convertible owner I found.
Johnson non scented baby shampoo and a nail brush.
Then when fully dry a couple coats of tent (canvas) waterproofer.
Save a ton of £££ against branded stuff and the results are the same.
@@brianiswrongWow, thanks for that money saving top tip!
How about a suspension upgrade? Lower but without loseing too much ride quality.
All UK plate MUST have the maker /issuer and the standard BS AU 145e. If not they do not comply and were fitted after 1st September 2021 they are NOT legal.
The reg plates are illegal as they need the makers number on them
How’s the injectors spark plugs and coil packs?
Not checked but its on my list!
@@RoadandRacetv Only reason I ask is that I actually own an Engineering Company and we have an ASNU petrol test bench. Would be good you could come down and we can show you how they work. You can shoot some footage of the bench working its magic at the same time. Have a look up of ASNU Classic GDI that’s the bench we have. Keep me in mind. Look forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you
Sound interesting. You able to give me an email to get things going? (My email is in the description box)
@@RoadandRacetv I have emailed. Have you received it?
Great content, plates not .really legal.
What happened to the 350Z?🤔
I've done a video on what happened if you'd like to check it out
You can get windscreen resin repair for free by most insurers
Oooh lovely. Didn't know that. Will hit them up for some!
How's the baby
I like nice clean plates, but those are illegal 🤦♂️ you need the makers name and the BS AU number unfortunately
Maybe just risk it and fit the old plates for MOT day
I didn't realise but I've looked it up and you're right. Does strike me as an unusal requirement though.
My other car has similar plates and passed the MOT. I assume they don't check this?
I cut my plates shorter and failed mot because of the missing BS number, had to get short ones from ebay, theres no legal length... depends if the tester is in a hurry for lunch break i guess 😂
I personally wouldn't worry about it. If the car is roadworthy and not drawing any unwanted attention, your numberplate missing the bs mark is nothing
Those windscreen repair kits are just gimmicks they don't actually work. A typical crack is maybe a mm or two across yet you have to syringe it for 15 mins to get all the air out? - yeah right!
Them plates are Illegal...you will get pulled
Lad at work loves the super clean look for his white Golf R and has got competely clear plates with no BS marks. Because he only looks about 20 and is a bit heavy with his right foot he has been pulled up twice in the last 12 months and the cops never even mentioned his plates. Got done for speeding the first time mind you now his insurance has doubled.
