Great video as always! i've got a question regarding the worklow of copy pasting / cloning when going to festivals ect. So when coming to a festival i'll recive thir patch and ill go through my patch, copy / paste all of my lights as needed. Cool, no need for cloning anymore BUT what if i get to a festival and i recive a PSR / MVR file? Now i've got all the handy info for my 3d view / selection grids but the "copy"/ clone has never been done? I know i can go through the " oldschool" way of cloning but this does not seem to work very well with phasers / recipes ect? i know its not a very common workflow yet in our part of the world but as the rigs become more complex and real world positions start to really matter it would be a great time saver! Once again thanks for all the work you put in!
Thank you Christoff. 😀 Well if you recieve a MVR file, it will contain some fixtures. If you replace your group with the new festival selection - AND you have used recipes to build your original show, you can simply replace the content of your groups, and "COOK" your recipes - and the new fixtures then work the same way as in your programing. Regardless of if you have extra fixtures in the festival rig. So the need for cloning is gone - but you HAVE to use recipes to make it all work
@@Event-Lighting thanks alot for the Quick answer! I would assume that EVERYTHING would have to be made using recipes then? And by updating the groups i remove the Old selection? So any changes made on the showfile for that day Will not be carried on to the next day as i would have to go back to the original file or continously work of new previz rigs every day?
You could make groups for that purpose only - no you would´t break anything. you only need to restore your original group. But when i builkd a show, i make groups for my touring setup, AND groups for my festival/cloning seperate. But thats all up to you and the programming style you find most useful.
Great video. I have a question, where i work we have 2 different moving head spots, when i need to change them one for the other the position are all over the place, aren't they suppose to be on tje same place??
Quick question , what about positions. If I have programmed for 12 fixtures and then add 6 more by copying them these 6 fixtures adopt exact same position as ones I copied them from….. which in regards to symmetrical positions etc does not always work…..
I've one question how do you get into the library of the fixtures in the moment were you change the auras to Pixi wash did you do it with Insert new fixture or is there another way?
I simply select all of them in the "fixture type" columns in the patch,. and then right click. That opens the box where you can search for the fixture you need.😀
Thanks so much for your contribution !! Regards ...
Thanks for watching Max 💪💪
