Hello, On Hostas I have grown a lot of starters from parts without roots. If it is broken off near the ground will have better luck. I usually just put it in Water and see what happens, sometimes they do not take root. During the summer I am always starting different plants. Trial and error. Lots of plants can be started and shared like this.
