- Hey Good People,
This past Friday, I had the pleasure of meeting an awesome family from Canada. They were passing through Georgia when their check engine light came on, while traveling with their family to Disney. They googled the nearest mechanic shop and guess who popped up? Dr. Pentastar LOL
I was more than happy to take care of them and get them back on the road!

Alex can completely disassemble a vehicle to a single bolt. Then he can reassemble back to exact O.E. standards with no issue. But to complete a sentence without fumbling a word or three......impossible lol. Keep up the good work

NGK; Nippon denso and Hitachi ignition coils are the best.
Love you Doc. But, you said “the back of my head “😂😂😂😂😂 you chose NGK which is very good but, i find that they work very well in foreign vehicles and Denzo’s work very well in American vehicles. But as i say if it works keep it going. Y’all stay up.

I did OEM plugs and coils on this motor in a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan 2 weeks ago in 45 minutes. Charged $125 labor 😂😂😂. I want to say oem coils and plugs were like $175. Around $300 out the door and no more misfires or CEL 🔥🔥🔥

Its nice van till alternator goes out and shot circuits the PCM charging system check for bad engine mounts have fun with it

So if you have this van bring some extra coil packs and the tools needed to remove . So you can do it on the spot

I always keep a cheap scan tool in all my vehicles. It seems like the Only time a CEL comes on is when I'm far away from home.

I think you did a great job, yes it would have been better to replace all the plugs and coils (worn plugs are the leading cause of coil failures) but they probably had a hotel room waiting and as long as they know to do the other 3 later getting them back on the road was tops on the list, you always put the customers needs first

I checked the price of that Topdon scanner and it is reasonable, let us know how it goes for you please, I might just buy one.
I feel like everyone that drives a car should have at least one decent scanner on deck whenever ur driving. Can save you tons of money if you havea hiccup on the road and wonder if u can drive it safe to a shop or home.

Why would one certain coil frequently go out?
'16 Wrangler RHD for Rural Main Delivery. Just turned 200k mi, The number 3 coil had been changed several times.
Before watching it I would say spark plug wires or coil packs of the car has them . 2 cylinders not firing. Maybe spark plugs but that would be more rare. Not sure why they took this to a shop

Trying to hurry up and get them back on the road sounds so desperate everywhere around me its a 3 week wait for car work.
I had a P0302 and a sputtering vehicle that only occurs when it’s raining. I went to take my plug out and the lower portion of the plug has stripped threads, now I can’t even replace the plug

As a Diy-er. I would like a good obd2 scanning tool. The topdon seems to do most things? Can i uodate the vin number of vehicles? I had to replace the pcm on a 2023 sonata and the vin when scanned doesnt match the vin of the car

I know it's not the same engine, but in my 2012 Ram 1500 Hemi (which I sold back in 2020), my spark plug change interval was at 30,000 miles--with 16 spark plugs smh. Did this customer go past the recommended interval, which lead to coil damage?
Most likely! They were definitely due for some maintenance. But they were pressed for time, so I just sold them what they needed.
