To get around accidental errors like in the video, set your pattern clip quantize value to match the length of the other clips in the scene. The main idea was to send the pattern change message just before the clip starts playing. This makes your pattern changes happen in time with the clips in your scene. Normally you would always have to wait for one more loop before the pattern would actually change on your Elektron device. Not sure when I’ll have time but a new version is planned some day.

Ableton would still be playing some loops but the Digitakt is stopped and I need it to restart without having to stop/start Ableton

Just checked this and the settings are pretty standard, didn't change anything here (Pattern change track: MIDI from all ins, MIDI to the Overbridge track. Overbridge track: MIDI from all ins, Audio to my Ableton Digitone Group (Overbridge track doesn't have a MIDI out in Ableton)
I think for Digitakt and Syntakt it should work (I used it for Digitone and Digitakt in one project, you just need then 2 different MIDI tracks for Digitakt and Syntakt) but for Octa I'm not sure as I think it doesn't support Overbridge. Could still work but I have never used the plugin without Overbridge.
Exactly, I did the MIDI sequencing completely in Ableton. However, I think the pattern changes should also work if you sequence the Digitone internally as long as you use it via Overbridge in Ableton.

Hey Tapepusher, what you describe in your 2nd post is normal, I have that too and it still works. Regarding the first post I don’t experience the issue for me all patterns are changing accordingly.

Regarding my 1st issue: the PClips device keeps sending program ch. messages to my A4mk2 even after stopping Ableton’s transport I think. If I stop and I manually change to a dif pattern on the A4 itself after it’ll keep snapping back to the last pattern PClips had, same for you? I have to mute the midi channel to manually change patterns on the A4. (You can see it happening in ur vid) And 2. Sometimes it just doesn’t work to change patterns. I’ll have it all set up properly, it’ll work for a while then I’ll stop Ableton transport and when I start up again PClips just won’t work to change to those patterns. I have to fiddle until it works again. You say you just line them up again? I don’t think that worked. I wish it was rock solid, forced a pattern change whenever that midi clip is played. I hope I’m doing something wrong cuz it’s the only way I know to perform with elektron/session view 😩 I’m only using program change mode, no OB.
@@Tapepusher that’s weird. For me it works fine again if I just line them up again on both of my Elektron boxes (Digitakt/Digitone). But I’ve never tried it without OB so maybe this causes issues? OB works quite reliably for me now and I have the feeling it gets along well with Pclips. Have you tried it with OB in Ableton?

Ahhh sorry if that wasn’t made perfectly clear: the device triggers pattern changes via Ableton und your Elektron boxes. Without the need of deep diving into your MIDI settings on both devices, doing 100 changes back and forth and still not have it working. 🫠
Hey man this is a little off topic, but i know you mix with pedals because you taught me some awesome stuff earlier on. I was curious do you use a reamp box by chance? Reason i ask is because i have to turn my gain on audio to and from way down almost -12 for some pedals in order not to get distortion when using a send and return with external fx? Thanks man love your work
Hey Joey, the only hardware pedal I use from time to time is the Microcosm and I just use it for creative sound design as a send/return unit but not for mixing. Everything else I do mixing wise is done in Ableton (EQ, compression, saturation, reverb, delay, etc). But in your case it seems like you'd need some extra amplification to bring the gain up.
@@joeymc5272 yeah it’s definitely on the list. I want to build a set up that is downscalable in terms of size and the Push 3 seems to be perfect for that. Also the onboard audio interface would mean 1 device less to Cary around which is great. So yeah, definitely considering it, just need to wait for the right time :) are you getting it?

Hey Justin, are you using Overbridge? Some effects are not applied on Overbridge and it might be that Swing is one of them
