Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down The Boys Season 4 Finale.

Episode 8 is now here and it sets up a lot of things for Season 5. We now know that that will be the last season of the show, however there's lots of other things going on. We have Gen V Season 2 and also the Boys Mexico and lots of things falling into place. Plus there's lots of unanswered questions and things that get left in the air. Whether it's where A-train or Edgar are, Ashley transformation, Samirs escape, Daphne not being in the show or what happened to the Guardians of Godolkin, there's a lot to talk about.
So come with me as we break down the episode and talk about all the easter eggs in it. We'll also be going over what happens in the comics and there's lots of things that we're talking in the future.

Now the episode is titled assassination run and it centres around saving Dakota Bob being saved by the Boys. However due to comments he makes about Victoria, the country gets thrown into chaos. Thus martial laws put into effect with the supes now getting unrivalled power.
Democracy is dead and Homelander is now in control.

Butcher witnessing Ryan killing grace and the look he gives to his tumor Kessler says he has lost all hope now.
And hughie was aware of this man everything was perfect

To top it off, the way Ryan turned his head over to Grace's dead body looked damn similar to Soldier Boy's one scene, you can tell the producers did that on purpose with Ryan to showcase that "the boy is already like grandfather like grandson".

Hughie's empathy, his moral courage, his instinct for "justice" is strong. It just took a while to kick in & develop because self-doubt, young & gentle lad forced into a very un-gentle life.

I loved the bit of depth they gave the shapeshifter, stating that she can't even remember who she is, and how she gets to see how people feel justified in whatever they do

I do wish we had more time with the shifter. Probably one of my favorite elements of this season and she was introduced and killed off within 2 eps
It was a blending of Mystique as a shapeshifter and Professor X with his ability to read minds. The two abilities perfectly accompany each other. Aside from the slightest of differences in demeanor, virtually indistinguishable from the actual person. The only weaknesses were that she needed to "replenish" herself, meaning she would need constant access to the host body to maintain the facade, and at least seemingly only able to take female forms. But still, she seemed quite durable as well. Crazy set of abilities to be simply choked out and overpowered by a depowered Starlight. Kind of a lame way to go out in the end.

He always had the tentacles from the temp V and they were already super powered from the temp v, and then Butcher injected even more V making them impervious and even more powerful. Season 5, they’re clearly gonna fight again, and Homelander is gonna try and fail to destroy the tentacles to his surprise and fear, because Butcher albeit with different abilities will finally be able to go toe to toe on his own against Homelander.

I think all hope is lost for Ryan. With each time he killed he gets a little bit unfazed, and Malorie's death was who he truly is now. Butcher cannot be blamed for what he did.
True. At this point Butcher needs to just release the virus so all the supes including Ryan are taken out. The supes are Homelander supporters and Ryan is becoming the new Homelander

I think my favorite thing is what they did with Sage. She wasn't a secret hero working behind the scenes to cause Homelander's downfall. She was just as bad as the rest. A bitter genius who doesn't care about who gets hurt. She just had an opportunity to turn everything upside down and did it just to see if she could.
One thing this season finale confirmed for is that I was right to support Soldier Boy in killing BOTH Homelander AND Ryan.

Exactly, while not the happiest ending, this really picked Season 4 up. Definitely one of the best episodes in all of The Boys so far, can't wait for Gen V Season 2 and The Boys Season 5.

The medicine that Firecracker is taking is making her heart larger and she's going in to heart failure. That causes coughing when the heart can't adequately pump the blood it backs up in to the lungs. Deep Cut
cardiomegaly alone doesn't cause coughing. Its likely a made up side effect of the drug with little to do with the heart. Instead you would get shortness of breath, chest discomfort, probably pain and dizziness. More closely looking like if you stood up too fast.
@@SliPsHoTiFc I'm no doctor, but she could be taking multiple drugs to help with 'production'. She would definitely do that for Homelander and some drug combinations can be dangerous/deadly.
The Nirvana song is a beautiful ending and it's a nice touch to The Wayward Son. That's a Supernatural ending for The Boys season 4.

I couldn't stop thinking that Kurt's inspiration for 'Heart Shaped Box' was Courtney Love's vagina.
I think Ashlee’s power might be a Medusa type of power, dealing with her hair not her head. I reason this because in the previous seasons Ashlee’s hair was a central point to her stress and feeling of powerlessness so,
1. Medusa’s Story revolved around sexual violence and powerlessness in the mythology, which was a side story for Ashlee for the last 2 seasons
2. In Medusa’s most vulnerable moment, after Poseidon assaulted her, she ran to Athena for protection but was cursed with power. And as such, in Ashlee’s most vulnerable moment, she runs to V (Athena) in order to gain power to protect herself, but instead of blessed with glorious powers of protection, she is cursed with grotesque powers.
Ultimately the two share the same fate, cursed with powers in their hair (and eyes maybe) so no man can ever make her feel vulnerable or threaten her again.

The thing with all the supes is that they are not really a private army of HL. They do work for him now since he is Vought and the government at the same time and he let their leash loose but I doubt most of them are actually loyal to him. In time at least some might get to know how HL treats those who are actually loyal and close to him and realize he's not the one to follow
Mallory basically gave Ryan a three-way ultimatum: (1) become their weapon and murder his father, (2) stay trapped in the bunker forever, or (3) fight his way out. There's a solid argument that he was acting in self-defense.
To provide a bit more context: Out of nowhere, Mallory tells Ryan that his father is a murderer and a rapist. Naturally, Ryan gets upset and wants to leave. However, Mallory tells him that * surprise * the bunker is designed to hold him prisoner if he refuses to cooperate with their plan. Then, when he tries to leave peacefully, she threatens to kill him AND Butcher.
SHE was the adult, and SHE escalated the situation. Plus, I don't think he was remorseless ... more like in shock.
Yeah all she had to do is just let him leave. Or leave out the Bunker part. Or better yet let Billy handle it

Prob one of the best scenes from this season
The only issue is why couldn't Kimiko over power that young guy restraining her (I didn't see Gen V), surely she's strong enough to over power that guy or at least break her arms to get to him. Like she's strong as A Train who was beating her up with his super speed, like the guy in season 1 was the third most powerful guy on the Seven from a physics standpoint.

That's actually a perfect comparison. I wonder if they took some inspiration from the prototype games
S4 didn't have too many big budget fights. Maybe they'll give it all in S5 with a Homelander led corrupt Supes Vs Soldier Boy, Ryan, A train, Ashley, the Gen V group and Juiced up Boys.

Seriously, of all the things I want to see in the final season, finding some way to give Deep a chance to fight out in the ocean and seeing what he's truly capable of would be great. Not sure how to write that in, but I just want to see him commanding all the strongest sea creatures in some form of finale. Some scenes where Team Boys has to go out and face off with Deep in his own element. I'll probably be left wanting here though.

The “Oh Captain My Captain!” quote while originally from a poem by Walt Whitman to honor Abe Lincoln after his assassination. That quote was also used in the Dead Poet’s Society with Robin Williams. The students used that phrase to stand by their teacher, played by Robin Williams, while he was let go by the administration. So with that 90s reference, that phrase is usually associated with “ I stand with you”

I literally have not been so hyped after finishing this episode. The boys is literally the best series I have ever seen, so much to unpack with neuman gone, butcher giving in to Kessler, the boys splitting and getting caught, Kimiko speaking, cate and Sam, Ryan, Ashley's powers, Starlight's power up, Sage's plan, Cindy's return, Guardians of Godolkin and A train's absence.

Probably top 5 strongest right now. The only thing with butcher that keeps him from being higher is we don’t know his durability. He could be like a glass canon for all we know but holy shit is he strong.
The variables sage is unaware of is the fact that butcher is a supe and that the virus that can kill supes is there. I think next season those two factors will be the biggest reason they fail. I wonder if next season it’s a few years in the future would be cool too see a 16 year old Ryan

I thought the same, but she also went through hell and was clearly traumatised. She didn’t break up with him and pretty much immediately dropped it. I’m sure she apologised for lashing out and they talked about it off screen.

Crazy episode i feel it reedemed itself for not being the best season. Butcher is basically Venom, Homelander is Practically president ! the boys are captured ! Neuman is dead . and Ryan is switching sides once again ! but i can't wait for the return of solider boy. defintely gonna be a cray next season

Yeah the last two episodes redeem the season for sure, the other six, were terribly written... for a moment It felt like chat gpt mess, but now I feel excited about the final season...
I kinda feel like all the pieces for this finally were placed and I’m planning on watching it all again to see what things we may have missed
Even tho this episode was very entertaining to watch, I feel like the whole season was pretty mid compared to the previous seasons. Don’t get me wrong there were great moments sprinkled throughout the season but the quality of the writing did not live up to its truest potential.
As a Supernatural fan, hearing Robert Singer say "Idjit" and "balls" was awesome 😂
I think Ashley's powers will be like Medusa, with snakes coming out of her head. Also I think we could see the image from the comic where Butcher is walking to the White house with all the Supes above it, this is mentioned by Homelander about Neuman, and now she is 'dead' maybe that might not happen, but it would be great to see.

I love Butcher's new power. Really dig how drastically different it is from his "basically Homelander" power in Season 3. It looks like tendrils of darkness coming out of his black heart consumed by hate and anger

The beautiful thing was that it was all set up, people where rating the season with out even seeing where the story was heading.
I don’t think Ryan will be the one who kills Homelander this next season, but I hope he’ll be the one who saves Butcher.
I think he's beyond redeption, after killing his mom and mother figure. I knew he was gone when he saw the director getting beated, that was a massive hint for me that his redemption isn't happening.

When President Singer says "idjit," that was actually a callback to his character (also Bobby Singer) with that being sort of his catchphrase. Love the Supernatural references laced throughout the show!
Your channel has handled covering the boys considerably better than other channels. Other channels have saying guys theirs no way to talk about this show without getting political and just using it to preach their own views. Heavy spoilers has been one of the only channels I can stand to listen to for this season.
Hoping next season Homelander doesn’t actually die but instead he’s left powerless and arrested, a fate worse than death for him.

Judging by how Ryan killed Grace and is beyond redemption at this point they’re probably gonna adapt the scene where Homelander’s clone gets gunned down by the military in the comics or atleast in some form.

I remember the first time seeing Butcher with temp V, feeling like his comics self with the glee of being on par with supes, I wanted to cheer and it was so exciting! vs how he is with this new ability.

When hes walking wirh his mother, i just noticed how Huwey went from- a jeans & T-shirt, shaggy-haired, movie store clerk kinda guy, to a confident nice tailored suit, and nice haircut, proper looking confident guy on the show since season 1.

i felt like her motivation was revealed and it was a lot simpler than we all thought. her motivation was to have fun. she’s the smartest person on earth, that’s probably gonna drive someone crazy and take the fun out of everything. but working on this elaborate plot and dealing with homelander’s bullshit was finally a challenge that she’s been deprived of. i really like the idea of sage being so evil that she did all of this just so she could finally have fun again
It seems like Sage might be similar to The Joker in that they both just want to watch the world burn.

I think a lot of people forget that people that survive soldier boys radioactive blast lose their powers, so there would be no real purpose for Maeve coming back.

I seen someone else point this out but she gave hughie all that hell and at the end when they were taking him she bailed and flew off.
Annie was locked in a dungeon for 10 days straight and forced to hear her doppelgänger describe in detail how they were ruining her life.
That doppelgänger also has access to her memories and thus know exactly what to say to get under her skin
She eventually escapes by ripping her hands out of her cuffs, nearly de-gloving her hands in the process. And then has to fight and kill a copy of herself without using her powers to do so
Annie has been through quite a lot herself. So her anger at Hughie in understandable as she is traumatized
Also she gets over her beef with Hughie almost instantly. It’s not like the season ends with them being broken up. Her being genuinely mad at him only last for like a few minutes on screen. MAYBE a few hours in universe
Starlight literally forgave him in the same day, it’s not his fault but like it’s understandable she is pissed at first. She was cheated on even if unintentionally and she clearly been going through it. They did do Hughie extremely dirty this season though.
Interesting that you think Ashley could go the mother's milks mom route. I was thinking maybe this would somehow happen to firecracker where she just becomes a monster that he keeps in hidden and goes to when he wants milk.
