I watched a debate with Argentinian writer and political scientist Agustin Laje (a more conservative libertarian) and it was extremely embarrassing. The guy swept the floor with her.

Take a look at current USA government, conservatives making lots of noise against the crazy democrat policies but at the end the crazy policies seemingly just get pushed through way more often than not. There is no point in having 2 parties if the counter balance party is essentially a neutered dog just licking its wounds when it comes to voting on issues. Ukraine money laundering is a good example. Republicans were btching and moaning about the spending and then at the last minute they agree to pass the spending bill for a country that is not a democracy on any scale of the definition of a democracy and simply a money laundering operation for the well connected and the military.

All these socialist imbeciles the proclaim asinine statements like "real socialism has never been tried" after witnessing the rise, fall, and bloody interregnum of the Soviet Union, The Khmer Rouge, North Vietnam, Mengitsu's Ethiopia, Maoist China, North Korea, Cuba and Venezuela is just astonishing. All of these regimes practiced some or all of the following fundamentally socialist ideas: collectivized farming(which led to widespread famine and starvation), wealth redistribution(which led to intergenerational poverty), communal living(which led to disease and death caused by poor living conditions), and punishment of the "the rich" and any political dissidents who opposed the socialist program(which led to 100 million+ deaths combined from the Communist regimes of the 20th century as noted. The story of socialism is the same every time, and ends the same way without exception: widespread death and murder, starvation, poverty, disease, torture, and general mayhem and destruction caused by socialist agitators done first to achieve socialism and then to maintain the socialist regime. Again and again and again without fail, the depravity and wickedness of the left and their fellow travelers never fails to manifest itself, because true socialism HAS been tried, in the literal and practical sense, and the outcomes of the TRUE Marxist ideas caused the death and suffering, not just the tyrant implementing them.

The idea that I can take money from others more well off is something that is always appealing to our base human brains. But people never consider that the socialist government may take everything from them too. Regardless of how many times socialism fails, the temptation for socialism is always there.

I wish George Orwell's "1984" and "Animal Farm" were both required reading at some point in all US high schools. While I enjoyed "Catcher in the Rye", one of the my required readings, 1984 and Animal Farm taught me so much more, though I didn't learn of them until being an adult.
