- Want to listen to any music while streaming? Go ahead. This video will show you how to listen to any song you want while streaming, while stream hears any other song you only want them to hear. This tutorial will help your streams be DMCA SAFE so long as your copyrighted music is not playing in OBS! This is not a way to get around the law, and if you play any copyrighted music on stream I am not liable for any actions taken against you. This is simply just a way to route audio into your headphones without your stream hearing the copyrighted music.

if you do this can't you then use a music sharing like listening session type service for your chat to join in on you without using twitch? effectively bypassing that entirely? similarly to watch parties, where you have to open the piece of content yourself so its not technically infringing the law? any recommendations for listening session apps?
Use discord server and have your chat go to the server channel you play music in and just listen to it with your chat on there with headphones so it’s not on twitch at all

Mhm I struggle with this tutorial. The moment I set A1 to my headset, in my case WDM Corsair bla.. I cannot hear the video or anything else anymore. I have to activate A and change the output in my windows -> in my case firefox -> default to cable input.
I'd have to do this for literally every program I am using and will use in the future, right? That's quite annoying.

Wasn't what I was expecting. I thought from the title this would be how to setup Twitch so you could have two audio channels, one for the live stream with music, one for the VOD without music. Still a good video.

Correct. There truly is no way to play copyrighted music ON stream, which is why I say specifically while streaming because then you can still listen and have chat hear copyright free.
There is a way so you can listen to music and your stream as well without suffering with CR issues.

i have a question. I use nightbot for the yt music... someone told me to put it in voicemeter on cable b ( VB -Audio Cable B) and u can play and its not on the VOD.. i tested it i even un checked the 2 in obs audio thats the vod for twitch. I have it in voicemeter on A1 and B1 and still u can hear the music in my VOD. When i go to the guy his stream u dont hear it back in his VOD but u can hear it in the stream. And he is using nightbot also. Any tips for me to get this right?

followed this tutorial, now everything that has audio wont play, spotify, youtube, etc. says "audio rendering error" or "cant play this right now" and unless i shut off voice meeter, can you make a video explaining this better cuz i dont think im the only one having issues
My issue is that I want to hear the same music my stream is from the same source but I can’t. They can hear it just fine, but I get nothing. In SLOBS advanced audio I can monitor Voicemeeter which allows me to hear it, but I discovered later that it also patched it through to Game Audio therefore making it into the VOD. Any tips on this would be immensely appreciated.
Yes. You need at least VoiceMeeter Banana to have more patching options and windows audio Playback set to use Voicemeeter VAIO and recording to use Voicemeeter AUX.
Not a big change, but not how it's shown here which is a very specific use case.
Once done you'll also be able to tell OBS (v27+) not to save the music track on the VOD. This'll help prevent DMCA notice or muted sections.
How does this help with Streamers who stream Rhythm and music games like Just dance, Stepmania, ITG, PIU, Guitar hero, ect.... it DOESN'T!!!!
Unfortunately no :/ until twitch either gets licensing or the DMCA laws are sorted there isn’t a solution. This is just so you can listen to music.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME FIND AN ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION:
I already googled and searched but all search results I get are about playing music on stream. That's not what my question is.
So here is my question: On stream I (or a viewer) recommend a song by saying / typing the song name, but I don't play it or show it on stream or anything, but me and the viewers could listen to it seperately on our own devices.
I just want to share music with viewers legally / without issues. Would this way be 100% legal without any possible bad consequences for the person streaming (me in that case)? If not, what part about it is the issue?

On a side note, unrelated to first question: Can I show a video of people / animation (fanmade, not official) dancing to copyrighted music if I mute the video or will it still detect the music despite the video being muted and strike me? You don't have to answer this question if you don't want to, I care much more about the first question.
So, that’s an interesting question. It’s kind of a grey area to be honest. If you are redistributing copyrighted material that you don’t own the rights to, and any sort of financial interaction is included I would assume it’s not legal or DMCA friendly. I’m not a lawyer so I have literally no idea, but it’s better to be safe than sorry haha
As for the second question, as long as it’s muted the bots can’t detect what media it is so you SHOULD be fine but who knows anymore my dude.

Well unfortunately, like guitar hero streamers it’s not. But fortunately for us Senator Tillis who wrote the DMCA law recently said that their goal was not to go after twitch streamers, it was to go after illegal broadcasting sites who are turning a profit. So while there isn’t an immediate remedy for DMCA, they aren’t actively trying to jail us because we aren’t illegally distributing copyrighted content for profit.

I don't think this is the best advise for viewers.
Once you start using Voicemeeter then you'll want to use it more ... and very quickly run out of inputs/outputs.
Better to start at least with VM Banana and add the extra Virtual Audio Cables.
Still hear music in the playback though

This is not a solution for dmca.
The matter is not to listen to music while you stream, it's to entertain your audience with music you like or you feel that day while you are not in game.
Not clickbait. I clearly say this doesn’t go around the law. The issue is making music while using others copyrighted content. I didn’t say you could use this music IN your streams. I said you can use them while streaming, it’s hard to word correctly but it’s important. There is no true solution for us listening to music on stream unless Twitch gets licensing.
If you are trying to use music as part of your content, which is already copyrighted by someone else then that’s the problem. Your content shouldn’t hinge on the music being played unless you are a music content creator. The overwhelming majority of streamers just use music to vibe with their viewers and create an atmosphere, rather use that AS their basis of content. There is a difference. I’m sorry you feel upset, it is not my intention to mislead you as that’s why I say right in the beginning it’s a tutorial to let you listen to music while stream hears DMCA safe music.

Yeah unfortunately until twitch gets a licensing deal that broadly protects the website as a whole, we are literally powerless against the law. That means your audio was still playing on stream. It has to be that it doesnt come through stream at all.
