I used to teach there for a while. He is completely wrong about what is he is telling. I am from North. I was a teacher in a technical school in Mogadishu for 8 years. There were few Somali Bantu students in my classes in these years. I stood to help with them, they were always struggling to pass the tests. Even I gave one them a chance to come to my workshop in the school to learn at break times and help him understand the technology. At last he stole the tools. I never hold accountable. There was no slavery in Somali at all. We all know the history. The Somali Bantu were brought to Somalia by Arab traders from the Arabian peninsula who were buying slaves from coastal towns of Tanzania and Kenya. African people in small towns were capturing their own people and selling to Arabs. When the boats of these Arabians broke down in the sea, they brought these slaves to Somali coastal towns. A Somali Religious man used to buy them and then free them and teach them the religion, give them a piece of land to cultivate. This is a true history. He is not mentioning this history. He is politically sick, and jealous. And he get a chance to insult Somali people. I think he is a traitor. The PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization) was delivering weapons. The Somali government was investing the PLO office with $30,000 each month for more than 13 years. And what they did, they cheated the nation that helped them and was servicing for its enemies. The UNDP office in Mogadishu delivered all its vehicles to USC rebels. I met Ali Salat after the fall of the government in Nairobi. He was the head of logistics office for UN compound in Lido. Ali Salat is half brother fo ex-President of Somalia Abdi-qasim Salat. He told us how he was involved in the civil war, and how he planned to deliver these vehicles, around 40. Now intellectual people who some of them were members of the rebels regret what they have done to their nation. I met them in Mogadishu, Nairobi, Hargeisa, Cairo and United Arab Emirates. Many African countries never experienced slavery. On Horn Africa countries, like D-Jibouti, Somalia & Ethiopia slavery did not happen at all. The kind of Slavery in East Africa was different then slavery that took place in West Africa. This kind of slavery would never had happen if Africans themselves did-not sell their own people to Arabian traders, Arabian traders crossing the sea around Somalia were coming and reaching East Africans countries like Tanzania, Kenya to buy slaves. African people in these two countries were hunting and catching their own people and selling to Arabian traders from the gulf. A Somali Bantu can only count 3 or 4. And they get stuck. Because his/her last (3rd of 4rth) great grand father were brought by slavery. Apart from that many Somali women married Somali Bantu men.
