It would be REALLY interesting if the twist was that AWAN Mr. Scratch isn’t the copy Zane made, it’s Alan from the future, having lost Alice’s enlightenment and gone mad with the power of The Dark Presence
28:24 Fun fact: The Oceanview Hotel made its first Video Game appearance in GTA Vice City before Control or Alan Wake 2, and is now returning in GTA 6. Now what are the chances that with the ongoing collaboration between Rockstar and Remedy that the Oceanview Hotel gets acknowledged in GTA 6 as an overlap between the 2 studios and thus worlds, maybe even be the place that will give us supernatural side missions in GTA 6, as a crossover event Hosted by the traveler between worlds himself, Ahti. I could see Lucia having to infiltrate as a Janitor for a heist, and just when you think her cover gets blown, Ahti shows up and tells his coworkers she works for him, followed by him in private giving Lucia a side gig, and have us clear rooms of either Taken or Hiss. The Crossover writes itself.
When will the story exp come out that was promised in the deluxe edition? No word or update yet which is strange it may take years until we see the additional story campaigns
Imagine if in the Night Springs DLC while playing as Casey (assuming he is playable) he has bullet time/shoot dodging like Max Payne. The thought just came to me while watching the video and I can't get that idea out of my head now.
50:25 Well, I would say that there are still representatives of the more "occult approach" in the FBC to this day. Just think of the Tennyson Report, which was most likely written by Langston. Who knows, maybe he's not the only one in the organization who thinks that way. I think it's an interesting conflict that's simmering within the FBC.
@@HiddenMachineGaming hells yeah 💯💯 just finished watching the final draft discussion video y'all made some really good points in that video also what happened to Alice 😂😂
Still haven't finished the vid, but I got to the Thomas Zane/Alan section around 35 mins in. I tagged you in my post on X, regarding my theory that the Thomas Zane in AW2 is Mr.Scratch. This just reinforced it for me, because you mention that they look exactly the same, even down to the clothes. But, there is one noticeable detail between them in the AWE DLC. Alan's hair is messy and hanging over his face, but Thomas Zane's hair is slicked back, just like Mr.Scratch's hair in AWAN. I'm gonna die on this hill, dude. Thomas Zane(filmmaker) is Mr.Scratch.
A silly fever-induced thought popped into my head: what if he's Zane's version of Scratch, completely separate with his own unique name. Something like... Mr. Cut. Because he's a filmmaker, see? And he cut Barbara's heart out. Nah, sorry, that's Kojima levels of silly. I should take some antipyretics. Seriously this time: Scratch's theme, "Dark, Twisted and Cruel" actually references Tom the Poet's writings from This House of Dreams and somewhat resembles his writing style, so there's another strong link between the two.
@@IxodesPersulcatus At this point, I don't think any theory is far-fetched! Lol Honestly, this all could go in so many directions! It's fun as hell to try to piece it all together.
Not that i have any connection beyond coincidence, but i find it funny that director Ash was more reverential to the house, which may have been a tree, parallel to the existence of Ash Trees. Whereas trench is director as the bureau is falling (into a trench perhaps?)
Very entertaining video! You were pretty spot on with most of this stuff, which probably wasn't too hard knowing all the Remedy games, but still, probs! :D
I understood Ashe as being the head of research under director Moore. There were correspondences of Moore demanding Ash return to the Oldest House after refusing to leave the foundation.
Alan Wake 3 is possible but it would need a new plot as he escaped the Dark Place. So him walking through to different Earth's to reach Alice could work. To use Yggdrasil as a framing device, he left helheim and have to ascend to Asgard/Valhalla. Him being a villian is likely but I could see him and Jesse having a Captain America Civil War style showdown in the future. There's also Thomas Zane and what their connection actually is to explore. Plus Barry as a member of the blessed feels ripe for a showdown. Maybe he gets another American nightmare style expansion or AWE style dlc to explore that connection? Alan Wake 3 is likely to release after Control 2 or whatever Phase 2 of the remedy-verse is.
Picture this: You have 2 essays due on Monday. You are about to get started, now 2:30 in the morning, because you have procrastinated this far and you just have to get it done. Suddenly *ding* a notification. An invitation. How could I not accept? It is a Hidden Machine video, after all. Surely I can just pop this on and get right to work right after! Only, the numbers seemed too big. Too big! Not ten, not twenty, but fifty minutes of Hidden Machine content! Oh, the bittersweet feeling. The essays will just have to wait... My journey into the night will continue...
Good guesses overall, but the yellow paint in AW2 is put there by the Cult of the Tree, not Rose. I believe in the Local Girl chapter, you find the paint in the bike club garage when you find the other cult stuff.
With the Darling videos and one still missing, I wonder if we get to play as Darling or Zane in one of the DLCs. I enjoyed playing the Saga / Alex part of the game, I would like to see that be a game, exploring some of the FBI cases and maybe along side the FBC in a few bit, Saga's seer ability would probably be of interest to the FBC. If AW become the protagonist in AW3, could Saga and Alex be the one hunting him?
I think it would be interesting if you followed up your thoughts about Alan being a villain in a future Control game (if you haven't already). I always felt the 'Avengers' style meet up people want with Remedy protagonist kind of cringe so this sounds far more interesting to me lol
No! I'm sorry. My save file got messed up, I tried to get back to where I was in the game, but ran into some other issues... I just kept getting set back and haven't finished the game again since. I'll be doing a new playthrough when the DLC release date gets announced
@@HiddenMachineGamingPlease don't be sorry! I just found your channel, and man, your Alan Wake 2 playthrough was/is amazing! I love the game, but had so many questions about it, and could not believe how much you had in your head about it! And I also just loved how you dealt with trolls!!! You are a kind soul! New subscriber here...love your channel!
@@whimsymoondesigns thank you so much! I will eventually complete that playthrough, I'm also working on a longform video that compiles all of my notes and theories on the game, but I want to wait and play the DLC too before putting it out.
Alice/Alan REVERSE ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE BABY!!! Going just off "Follow you into the Dark" and, I kid you not, Fortnite. Well my friend who knew nothing said the song felt like Orpheus. But I was calling Alice would enter the Dark Place at least, though I thought she would use her camera (and it's flash) in the final boss fight. Which she... sort of did? But not how I was expecting.
I always kinda figured Casey and Tim breaker would get playable sections at least in the announced dlc, I'll understand if they decide to go a different way. Interesting you think may fall to the dark side when I thought that's what 2 was going to be. yea aw2 is also a max payne game imo lol an FBC game sounds dope.
Yeah but they are sadly digital only. If you’re interested though, they are both included in a free DLC pack when you get the first Alan Wake on Steam!
Crazy how many people labeled this game woke just because they saw Saga and she was swapped to a Black lady instead of the one shown earlier. Close minded idiots. The game is absolutely not woke. The complaints came from people hating before it even came out. They assumed you'd be mostly Saga and not Alan. In fact you played both pretty equally and swapped freely for the most part. The only way this game works is with 2 protagonist that is the only way you could help and have a chance at getting Alan out of the Dark Place. I was also hoping to play as Casey. He doesn't have the Seer power like Saga does though. So guess you needed her. Hopefully we can play as casey in the DLC. Would be great with the remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2. Especially knowing now that AW2 sold 1.5 mil copies and they can use recources to progress those remakes and their other games faster than anticipated
People just call things woke when they dont like something and it seems to have vaguely progressive themes or writing to it. Alan Wake II has a bit of this with the bad cops being racist, Saga being confrontational with Wake while Wake himself is less of a cool guy, etc, in a way that makes hyper conservative people hate the vibe of it without anything actually being wrong with it. The difference between Alan Wake and a 'woke' game is that Alan Wake is good, and a 'woke' game is usually just a bad game that people blame its failure on leftist ideology.
Alan becoming the villain would break my heart man, I don’t want to put a bullet in my favourite writer
It would be REALLY interesting if the twist was that AWAN Mr. Scratch isn’t the copy Zane made, it’s Alan from the future, having lost Alice’s enlightenment and gone mad with the power of The Dark Presence
I believe we see the remade version of the 'Tom The Poet' poster in Watery, at Suomi Hall. 🤔
Yes you are totally right!

Gahhh I want that!
34:56 It's definitely intentional, cause while AWE Zane is dressed and looks like AWE Alan, Zane's hair and facial hair is much shorter.
Great point

I suspect the words of power in the dark place where placed by Alice, actually. She's also some kind of lady of the light, in a way.

I meant Theodore Ash, Sr., his father. He was Director right before Northmoor and died one week before the discovery of the Oldest House.
