Vendors would bring donuts, didn’t usually partake on the ones with the holes, but usually had to grab one of the high cal filled ones😋 Hadn’t had a donut since I retired over four years ago. Might have to break down and get one soon.

Oh my the best pie I have ever had, and yes I think I had a slice but bought one for the road trip and one as a give away as I was headed to see a friend in iron river Wisconsin…… you know to this day I can honestly say if I think on it hard enough I can still smell the goodness in that little hole in the wall cafe. Hi Buzz! When dounuts were brought into work you just knew it was going to be a good day! It sparked the morning conversations with the usual questions of "who brought in the dounuts" or "grabbing a dounut and heading for the coffee" or just some light-hearted quips and jokes about one of the guys not needing the extra cholesterol lol. It's definitely not the same having a doughnut in retirement Buzz. You hit the nail on the head.

Nothing replaces the camaraderie of office donuts...or those home-baked brownies and cookies someone would bring. But you have to find new traditions in retirement. You could be the one bringing a box of goodies to a workplace, community center or local school teacher's room to make their day a little brighter! Hang out with the folks for a few minutes, ask about their plans for the day and leave with a smile.

At 64 ,5'10" and 173 and still lifting weights like I did years ago ... I've skipped the donuts for over 2 years after losing 35 pounds. The problem in this country are overweight people which cost billions and billions of dollars extra every year for healthcare. Look around at all of the overweight old people that can barely walk.

When I was in high school I worked at a doughnut shop and on weekend overnight shifts we had a deal worked out with a local pizza place where around 1:00 in the morning they would deliver a couple of pizzas to us and we would send them back with a couple dozen doughnuts! By that time they were sick of smelling pizza all night and we were sick of smelling doughnuts all night, so it worked out great……..😂

Hahaha, I remember doughnut days. I was a chronic ‘feeder’ then and would often buy a team favourite, lemon drizzle cake, and leave it by our bank of desks. They’re probably a lot healthier since I retired 😂

We had warmed up doughnuts last night for desert...it was really fun. Most of the time we just have a cookie or last month we would sneak one of the mini-Halloween candy bars out of the bowl.
When I was hired as an apprentice, we were tasked with going and buying a box of doughnuts EVERY morning for the 6-7 guys on the crew. One of the Journeymen would hand you some cash...most of the time it was because they screwed something up the day before...and you would head to a store along the route to the job site and buy the doughnuts for the morning coffee break. Fun memories.
