Huge help I kept changing my flame every 2 minutes out of paranoia thinking I’m using the wrong flame. Going to try to stay on the neutral side I was over using the oxygen.
Hi Matt love this channel! Love how your being self taught! It’s very inspirational but I had just a quick q I’m moving to CO within a couple months and wanna get started I was wondering wanna on how much did you all around pay to get started lampworking? Average?
Hey thank you! My goal is to inspire others into the art-form; not just as lamp workers either but as admirers of the glass process. So I started with a newly reconditioned 10lpm concentrator for $1k and about $600 for everything else. Oxygen tanks will start you off for a lot less money, but for a long term investment they might be more expensive with exchange/rental fees. So about $1600 with no kiln and just a $15 propane exchange every 2-3 months.
@@LillyTheCatGirl I just checked it out, It looks like a GTT Mirage. Magnetism might be the way to go but flame isn't very magnetic and it would take a lot of power. Still a cool idea just hard to match a light sabers real power.
Hello Veta Oana, it's a Bethlehem Bravo from Bethlehem Burners. It's a pretty standard torch in the glass community for mid sized objects, along with the Phantom from Glass Torch Tech. A lot of people do lean towards GTT, but overall the skill is in the hands more than the tools.
just got my torch set up and was playing with the flame settings and the torch made a loud bang! scared the crap out of me.. i turned everything off & relit it to make sure all was well and it seemed to work like nothing had happened.. any experience with this?
@@MattJasa i do have flashback arrestors on both tanks, it was the beth bravo sharp. i was worried i did something wrong and broke the torch in the first 5 minutes of serting it up. i did some googling and some people are saying its normal, but idk.. i just wanted to ask if you had ever experienced anything like this since we're using pretty much the same torch.
@@Dewey_Boondye420 Actually I have had that happen when I first started. I don't remember why. It could be a simple first time mistake, if it keeps happening it could indicate a problem. Remember to start with propane first and then add oxygen. When your done turn off oxygen, and then propane last. Also always shut the tanks off when you leave your studio. You don't need to uninstall the regulator, but it's best to turn them off before turning the tanks back on. Tanks are under a lot of pressure and hit the diaphragm harder when the regulators left open, possibly leading to damage over time.

Matt Jasa thanks Matt!(: keep up the great work!
What happens if you add a magnetic coil on the end?
Would it make it work like a lightsaber because the torch also looks already like a lightsaber
Haha, I'm not sure if it would work. I can shape it using the force. I mean.. I don't know how to use the force *waves hand*
@@MattJasaokay have you see The hacksmiths lightsaber

What is this torch called?

Its definitely a Bethlehem bench burner. Looks like a smaller version of my champion.

It sounds like a flashback. Do you have a flashback arrestor installed on your propane tank? Also what torch was it?
