My Mentor Is in private Equity and I recently decided that I will finally reach out to him and come up with a plan to join his firm. This video put so much into perspective
Fabuluous video, Ben! Would be really great if you could cover the recruiting process for hedge funds. Cover aspects like applying for funds, hedge fund modelling, interview process, etc. Thanks, Ben.
Thank you for the video. Please consider making career guides for management consulting, investment banking and private equity, so that it helps with interview preparation and career advancement. Thank you.
Hey Ben, Can you do a video on hedge funds like how to break in. Recruiting processes, compensation structure etc. that’s my end goal but it’s hard to find clear information on it.
I have a degree in mathematics and finance (3.9) from Ivy and Masters in real estate finance. Previous asset management experience . Can I get into private equity? What is best real estate private equity?
Pretty sure you can leverage that into getting a PE role provided you can show decent transaction experience and network hard enough. If you have more than 3 years of experience, it would be better to do an MBA, as the work ex requirement is right around the corner.
Having left your job in banking, did you find the golden handcuffs hard to reconcile with? Leveraging a lot of financial security and lifestyle creep against one's happiness must be a difficult one. Are there a lot of unhappy people in this sector or are most people cool with the whole thing?
Currently working in a back end role in a PE house. Do you have any advice how I could help myself migrate to an investment associate/assistant role without having to leave the company? Currently doing the wall street prep premium course but if you know of anything else that could help me out it would be much appreciated! (P.S. your videos are 10/10)
hm that's tough i would think though that doing a really good job at your current firm and networking to see if you can join as an entry level analyst may be worth a try. showing that you can model would be helpful as well so great that you're taking efforts to learn how to do that. good luck!!
Hey great video. I will start my studies this semester in Industrial Engineering and Management in a very good German university (KIT Karlsruhe) do i have a chance with an appropriate master degree to break in investment banking and private equity?
will taking a course inPE help me in personal investments? I am in tech, but would like to have some business experience as it looks interesting but no interest in pursuing business career
no not really because PE involves a very specific type of modeling (LBOs) that aren't applicable to investments in equities if that's what you're referring to. financial modeling (DCFs and comps) would be more applicable
Hi Ben! I am actually planning to do my masters next year from HEC paris which is one of the best schools in the world Then onwards I was thinking of joining investment banking and then joining private equity. But can u plz help me in understanding how to directly join private equity instead of joining investment banking right after completion of my masters! Your reply and suggestion would help me a lot!
not entirely sure what the landscape of PE is like in europe but if it's anything like the US, then without banking experience it'll hard to join a PE shop post a masters unless it's a small boutique. would defer more to your classmates and see if anyone has been able to recruit for PE with a similar background / situation as yours
@@vaishnavsv5049 I think you are Indian and you are going for MIM at the paris. i've heard that Rothschild is top as well BNP Paribas. not sure about PE exits though. and they might as well prefer native French for PE who know the culture well. i looked in teams of EU PE firms think (CVC, Advent, EQT, hg, Permira), etc and they were locals and no internationals so pls do due diligence of the landscape before landing in france.
hey ben, can you talk about buy-side equity research & L/S HF style. do you know anyone who got into hf out of UG like point72 analyst Acadamy, i will apply probably next year so good to know. thanks man.😀
Hi! So I've got 3 years left in my university (Bachelor's in business management) and I've just wrapped up an internship at a management consulting firm doing private M&A. I've only ever had case competitions for PE, nothing professional. Do you recommend I start trying for PE for my second internship (I've only got 4 internships left to spend on before graduation) or try to build my way there using IBD internships first? Also, what season would you say is best for applying to PE in terms of competition - after summer (August-Dec) or before summer (Jan-May)? Thanks!
Yes, the large-scale construction companies pay well if you are willing to travel and work long hours. Respect that you call yourself a Construction Manager as opposed to Project Manager. Everyone I know wants to be called a Project Manager even if they have little to no experience.
Tens of millions of people in the US working HARDER than you and actually HELPING people making 150k or less. And they’re SMARTER than you too. They just CARE more. But I’m interested in making money now so that’s why I’m watching 😂
I wish kim would put more effort in getting innocent people out of jail. That was the only time she had my respect I wish she would make that the majority of her work.

Apply to PE internships and grad schemes instead of IB if that’s what you really wanna do.

"There are a lot of ups and downs", not "is". Subject-verb agreement missing.
Jeez, why all guys with an investment banking background talk so fast. I made a playback speed at 0.75 and you started sounding like a normal person.
