Have you ever hear of or seen the crazy, gory and violet video game, Chiller? It was released in 1986?
Chiller is a light gun arcade game released in 1986 by Exidy. An unlicensed port was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990 by American Game Cartridges in the US, and in Australia by HES (Home Entertainment Suppliers), with the option of using either the standard controller or the NES Zapper.
In the game, the player takes on the role of an unseen torturer who must maim, mutilate, and murder restrained non-player characters in a variety of dungeon settings. Few of the NPCs in the game are capable of fighting back, with the challenge element lying in how quickly the player can cause each of the victims to die. #videogames

Yo... when I was a kid, ne and my cousin rented the Nintendo cartridge... we loved that game. Great memories.

Fantastic! I’m now getting a little obsessed with trying to get a cheap copy of this game.

I LOVE transgressive and boundary-pushing media so the fact that they made a literal torture sim and brought it to the NES of all consoles is SO fascinating to me!

It’s crazy enough that it was an actual arcade game, but the NES is definitely unbelievable. Upon further research, it was unlicensed for NES. Not 100% sure what that means, but it seems that maybe NES wouldn’t have released that, in the traditional sense.

Oh I see! iirc unlicensed basically means Nintendo never actually officially approved the game for release for their console. That makes it even more interesting! And is much more believable haha@@SteveGreene

Apparently Aaron and I rented it, but I don't remember that. Now I want to snag one.@@epicgamermike
