This was so convincing that I used your discount link and bought the EM-Smart basic. You saved me almost $200.00! Can’t wait to begin my new fiber laser journey.
Around 14:40 you had mentioned that you would be glad to make a tutorial on how to engrave on the samples included with the EM-Smart machine. I would LOVE to see those if you have them, and how to create the business card!! Your video is great and was a tremendous help!!
@@garrydye2394 Cuz I like lasers :'D lol it's cute. A lot less intimidating. Good for trade shows and events so I don't have to pack up my big JPT. Lots of reasons. There's nothing wrong with a 20w laser. Sure you can't go 300x300 on it, but if you work with small lens sizes 20w can hold it's own for a lot of applications.
I would love to have a laser expert take look at 20W EM Smart and compare with other 20W lasers. It look so slim and small, I wonder if it is really 20W as they claim.
Got the confirmation for delivery on mine this morning for Thursday Also bought the blue one ^_^ But ouch, should have waited for the black friday sale before ordering 😅
Thanks for the good information. Please look into the lens when you talk to your audience. It's distracting to see your eyes looking at yourself in your camera. Happy New Year!

Thanks for the great video on this fiber laser Garrett! I have a K40 CO2 laser that I'm learning everyday on (thanks for your video on engraving tiles 😊) however my next laser will be fiber. Thanks to your video, I'll probably put this one at the top of my list due to its portability and low price! Also thanks for the 3d printing videos.
That thing looks awesome. Glad to see fiber lasers becoming more accessible for makers. Couple of years ago there was nearly nothing on fiber lasers on UA-cam.
Garret, great video but just to let you or anyone know the foldable cover was limited to the first 10 customers only. Do you have any examples of bitmap on copper, brass or stainless steel
I watch the video and get super excited, "This thing is amazing!" I see the price and faint unconscious. What's the going rate for a kidney these days?
any good recommendations for a video that describes the basics and fundamentals between fiber lasers, CO2 , and diode lasers? I really know nothing about fiber lasers ,only CO2 and diode
I wish it gas a mobile app. I don't like to use pc when engeavung. Software to difficult. They should have a mobile app version. Mobile apps for laser engraving is best.
Looks cool. Looks like it would be handy with it's small size and portability. But I can't afford that much even on sale. I'll keep looking and dreaming.
Great video man. I got one a few months ago. While it's limited compared to other offerings it's still a great value. Honestly the only draw back is the lack of Z-travel at about 70mm max.
Hey! I’m still around! I had some medical problems but I’m getting back in the groove! Thanks for thinking of me! I’ll be back! (In my best “Terminator” voice). LOL!
@@3DPrintFarm glad to hear it brother, I have been missing your videos and I have been in the same boat with injuries I got in Iraq and now several back surgeries and tbi, and such so I got into lasers, resin printers. And 3d printers and your instructions has been a huge part of that . Get well my friend.
That's cool and all, but $2,600 for a 20W Fiber Laser isn't really all that cheap nor affordable... Sure it's more portable than other 20W Fiber's on the market, but I don't personally think that's worth an extra $400 markup. There are lots of excellent 20W Fiber lasers on eBay for $2,200, with a larger marking area, and free shipping. However the current Black Friday deal of $200 off and free shipping for that EM-Smart 20W Laser does make it more attractive, but after that sale is over I'd just buy one of the eBay ones unless you REALLY need the slightly easier portability.
@@coulterjb22 I understand that but I would think they would not give you a max work size if that size included a distortion area. I could be wrong though.
Not sure what this gets me that a CO2 laser or a far cheaper diode laser can't do. Typically the value of a fiber laser is the ability to engrave or cut metal - this one doesn't do that. It's advertised as being able to "mark" metal. I can already do that. I was hoping to see that it would actually engrave metal, not just remove the anodization layer or paint/powder coat. Show me something that I can't do for a qtr the price then maybe I'd buy one. The whole "fiber laser" here is just marketing spin. Surprised you fell for it.
@RANDOM_VIDZ if you just need to work with wood, acrylic, leather & mat board (to cut & engrave) or those plus glass, slate, tile for engraving then I'd go with a CO2. You can engrave anodized aluminum and with something like Dry Moly Lube spray or Cermark you can engrave metals. If you need to be able to pick it up & move it all over the place including on top of something you'd like to engrave, then maybe one of the new dual-diode Ortur type lasers with an open frame.
K40 is pretty limited. I have owned 2 myself. I also own afe of the larger china lasers they are great. The k40 can be much better with several upgrades.
I agree way outside my budget too, but the next level up for fiber laser is in the $6k range. If you are using a 20 diode, yeah is a lot of money, but if you were already planning to move up to fiber it's a good deal.
@@stevelaminack1516 But it doesn't do anything a diode or CO2 laser can't do. Fiber lasers are usually used to cut or engrave, not mark or lightly etch, metal. This thing doesn't do what the fiber lasers you're thinking of do. Unfortunate or I might have been buying myself a Christmas present.
To add more perspective. A typical industrial grade fiber laser usually starts at 50k and can go up 150k. So for 2k to get 57% of that is actually impressive.
Who else enjoyed the almost 15min of weird accents, awkward description and creepy vibes from this guy acting like a 10yr old with more white hair than Santa will ever be able to grow.
@@LaserEverything Yes it will. He's showing standard aluminum card blanks. He's not engraving the aluminum, he's ablating the anodization coloring. Same for those flasks - they're just powder coated and the laser is burning away the paint but is not etching into the metal. Nothing shown here or on their website you can't do for $500 and maybe a can of Cermark.
@@jimhatch5873 That's true but saying that buying a diode and buying a fiber laser are the same thing is a little misleading I think. Garret maybe didn't show the best application in this video but they are not at all comparable machines.
