Just love Seger. Seen him many, many times and he was amazing live. You have to do Live Bullet...Simply the best live album of all time imo. Thanks for this song battle. Can’t pick one love them both!
I mentioned live bullet for them to review last year perhaps get to it someday Kathmandu definitely enhanced in the lower key and the late great just recently Departed Alto Reed laying down fantastic saxophone instead of a little harmonica that was heard on this one from the studio version funny thing that was only a year later tactically the same year because most of the beautiful loser stuff found on live bullet was recorded at cobo hall in Detroit in late 75.
“Katmandu” is a fun, get in gear on Saturday morning song. But when I’m tired of my own voice, “Roll Me Away” is my get-outta-town song. It also touches my heart. It’s in my top five Seger songs.
Two great ones from Seger. Love both songs. Good battle, but I give a slight nod to Roll Me Away. Always appreciate anyone who brings more Bob Seger to the channel. Nice choices by Kevin for this song battle.
Thanks, men, for doing these tunes- both great, but I REALLY love "Roll Me Away". So inspirational. Well done, guys. Maybe it's time for the classic "Against The Wind" or "Main Street"?
I never, ever try to pick between two Segar songs, because next time my pick would be the other one. It all depends on the mood I'm looking for at that particular moment.
Back in the 70s when Seger wrote this song, Kathmandu was THE place to be for western travellers, specially the Hippies. They travelled from all over Europe and Americas. If you were a hippie and were going somewhere, it was Kathmandu. Hasish (mariujana) was legally bought and sold. Kathmandu back then was absolutely rocking to the western music. I am pretty sure Seger was hugely impressed by all off this even though there is no official record that he actually visited Kathmandu. Thanks for sharing.
SUGGESTION - Listen to the "Live Bullet" double album - all 4 sides - straight through. You might be surprised how many people will join you on the trip.
I prefer Roll Me Away, the story, the imagery, his voice all resonate with me. Kathmandu is fun but it always feels a little long to me and at a certain point I just want it to wrap it up.
Katmandu is one of his best concert encore songs, but Roll Me Away is on another level. The emotion it has brings many listeners to tears, and resonates with our innermost longings...On a side note, Hollywood Nights rivals Roll Me Away as songs which seem to make folks drive a little too fast!
good choices. roll me away though just paints such a great picture took a bead on the northern plain and just rolled that power on. northern Michigan way up there. going out straight across the top through the high plains northern Wisconsin in the Minnesota out towards the Dakotas into Montana or further up into Canada. fact that didn't quite make it the first time in the end going to do it again another journey. stood alone on a mountaintop staring out at The Great divide (in America we usually call it the Continental divide because between North and South America as it divides itself amongst the two continents) I could go east I could go west it was all up to me to decide (after she got off the bike never mentioned if she hitchhiked home or got a ride or how she made it back to Michigan. he could do whatever he wanted) just then I saw a young hawk flying and my soul began to rise the anticipation of trying again and not giving up whatever his mission was or goal. of course just like the Great tunnel of Love from dire straits from 1980 here in 1982 East Street pianist the professor Roy Bitain lends his skills on the 🎹here too. Katmandu is a great song although it's definitely more enhanced on the live bullet version versus the studio version from 1975's beautiful loser album. only 7 years actually elapsed between beautiful loser and 1982's to distance album where Roll me away originally was from. most know I love Uncle Bob a whole hell of a lot. I've got many UA-cam songs on my channel between him and Tom Petty the two most that I've done in the last few years. in fact the title track the beautiful loser I actually took a shot of trying to sing it 🍻🤔😱🙃 good battle enjoyed it _on the more melancholy note rest in peace to Tom Cartmel. also known as Alto Reed. lost his battle with cancer been with Bob close to 50 years saxophone percussion and a whole lot more great guy._
Kathmandu very handily!! For me is sad that many people are more appreciative of the sentimental songs rather than good music. Don't get me wrong I love Seger, my first concert was Seger Live Bullet at Cobo Hall, but I think After Night Moves he got away from Rock and went more to the softer side.
Roll Me Away is just pure magic. Not even a close call.
Thanks Mike!
Both songs were featured in the movie “Mask”. Katmandu was the first song and Roll Me Away was the credits song.
I didn't remember that. Thanks for sharing Shawn!
"Katmanu" is a great song to play at a party. "Roll Me Away" is tailor made for a road trip. Give me road trip music every time---
haha Thanks Tom and well-said!

I think we, or at least one of us, will get to Live Bullet! Thanks and stay safe!

It is so so good. Thanks Ms. Chuck!
Roll me away forever my favorite.
It's a great one!

Thanks Rich, one more on my side haha

Great suggestions. Thanks Greg!
Saw Bob on The Distance tour when Roll me Away was on the charts. It was incredible live. One of the great voices in Rock music. Great reaction video!
Had to be great to see! So many I wish I could rewind time on and see in concert in their primes! Thanks Paul!
Roll Me Away wins all day long. Katmandu might have had a chance if they played the live version.
Thanks for Watching!
I rode a motorcycle from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to this very place for charity it was amazing ....
That is awesome, thanks Betty!
Love Seger, I’m from the Midwest to. It’s hard to choose, for me Roll me away. Do more Seger🔥

haha we need to give it a review sometime this year! Thanks Scott!
Both great but Roll Me Away is his best song, the winner.
Thanks for Watching!
I never, ever try to pick between two Segar songs, because next time my pick would be the other one. It all depends on the mood I'm looking for at that particular moment.
Great point Greg, that is what high quality does!
All my playlists have “like a rock” then “roll me away” ending with “fire inside”. As we all slowly age it’s my soundtrack.
Love that! I have that soundtrack of songs as well!

Great insight, we appreciate it!
*ROLL ME AWAY* before I even hear Katmandu. :P
haha noted Martha! Thanks!
it’s like picking a favorite child… cant do it! thanks so much!!!
Kathmandu is more my style really. It just gives me energy and puts me in the best mood
haha I understand!
"Katmandu" is fun and all, but in the end it's a basic rock and roll tune. "Roll Me Away" wins this battle and it's not even close.
Thanks Kennet!
Roll me away in a runaway.
Thanks Paul!
I like Roll Me Away better because I first heard it over the end credits of MASK (Cher, Eric Stoltz) And that’s one of my favorite movies
One vote with me! Thanks Seals!

Really appreciate the suggestion and thanks for watching cjpreach!
Chuck Berry was a huge influence for Seger. That live Bullet will show that. Keep playing Seger!!
Will do. Thanks Dan!!
Seger also loved Van Morrison.
Roll me away, winner
Thanks Sherri!

Thanks for watching Mikaela! Stay safe!
i see you have my favorite album of all time on the wall “Rubber Soul”
Lots of Beatles stuff up on the channel! They are the best!

Great comment. Thanks DJ!
thx guys...
good choices.

We will check that one out Jerry, we love some Seger! Thanks!
Kathmandu very handily!!
