So glad I got to see this man at the very start of his career, what an incredible human being!
It’s crazy how he’s talking about 510 like 500 is easy weight 😂 go for it it would be incredible to see that. He’s got a new fan with me this week that’s for sure
Honestly I'm not an Eddie fan but if it wasn't for him we'd still be talking 470-480 now
This guy has a hell of a mind
Lplpo
DAREN YOU JUST SAID IT HE CAN MOVE FAST LOL IT'S THE WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN DAREN NOT THE FASTEST LOL 2017 WSM WAS PERFECT EVERY EVENT WAS ALL ABOUT STRENGTH AND ALL THE WSM SHOULD BE LIKE 2017
@@anthonylaudano9751 thing is strength has moved on strongmen are capable in being quick and strong pudzianowski is one who kickstarted that
This guy is a great addition to strongman
I had kind of assumed Hooper would be something of a bro-dozer... But WOW!!! Monstrously strong, absolutely, but this guy is something else. Right up there as one of the best strength podcasts i have ever heard, absolutely fascinating
Good to see that Darren and Mitch are this close already. Holding hands for half of the podcast.
Tom is doing much the same approach , staying calm and cruising . He said that last year he used a lot of energy because he was on his own at night. This year he has his wife with him and can chill out as if he was at home. Luke is very different . I suppose you have to figure out what works for you. The walking to recover I can relate to. I’ve done a few long distance walks, 50 miles + and after a bit of a rest, food, a slow pace walk for say 10 mins really helped with recovery.
This guy is something special.the future of the sport right there .
Could be, definitely has the mind for it , just have to see if his body holds up
Kind
When you discover someone who immediately goes to the top of your list of favourite people. Top bloke.
This guy is going places! Super impressive so far and a great attitude. Confident not cocky. His background has really set him up well.
My mind is absolutely blown by the first quote!
Mitchell talking about 505kg 510kg like he's just gonna fly it up! and he probably will!
It was great to hear them talking about the deadlift record. The Deadlift World Championship is going to be VERY tasty!
This guy is Nietzsche's Übermensch. Highly intelligent, eloquent and driven, but also physically uniquely talented and capable. As a fan, I'm hoping he'll stay in the sport for the long run, but the part of me that understands him as a person knows he will likely explore other avenues in life after achieving his goals in strongman. Godspeed, Moose!
He is going to revolutionise the sport to a whole other level he speaks so much sense
Just went over and watched his prediction video 😳 wow he is backing up his predictions ❤️❤️❤️
Also, this is one of your best podcasts so far ❤️❤️❤️
This guy is actually different 💪
100%
HOOPER THROWS AROUND 505 KG LIKE ITS NOTHING LOL WILL SEE IN AUGUST.
He's gonna go far
Darren looking MASSIVE!!
This is the best podcast so far!!! Mitchell Hooper is truly something special.
Awesome interview. Particularly the "I don't need you to believe" if the evidence is there then belief isn't required
The mental aspect of sport is underrated
Mitchell ver Mitchellson! Great job!
Great interview. While a lot of the stuff Mitchell is saying sounds good, I am interested to see if this is a method that would be consistent for 10+ years similar to what Brian has done or is this just something young blokes can get away with before multiple injuries.
I was thinking the same RE recovery - a lot of the older guys talk about how being younger with less training miles can get away without spending time on the extra recovery work, but as they have more training miles they need more and more.
Love his attitude on the deadlift mind - I'm a strong believer that many people set limits in their mind which hold them back. Take the 100m sprint for example, everyone was happy running 9.8/9.9s 100's, then bolt comes along and sets 9.6. Suddenly others jump forward now they see its possible.
100% this guy will get injured. He actually seemed kinda arrogant in terms of knowing exactly what works and how to do it. Eddie had a team behind him in order to pull 500kg. But I'm open to eating my words
Unbelievable guy. He is going to go far.
Absolutely love what this guy is about. Can’t wait to see how he goes
This guy is bloody awesome! Love his attitude.
What a great guy
Freak athlete.! And extremely intelligent. This dude is just getting started.!
So impressed with this guys mind, he's so smart and knowledgeable for his age he sounds like a 70 year old man in a young mans Body.
Special talent. Very impressive interview. 👏
Great guy! top 6 this year!
He's a phenomenon. Great guy got a lot of time for him. Hope he goes far.
he understands recovery science. he may change some things in strongman
As intellectual as he is strong with such great demeanor. This bloke is no joke. A real diamond. Go Moose go!
That’s brilliant that he sees this as fun and he wants to improve people quality of life in
It makes sense why him and loz were so good at yoke with the athletic background
Amazing Mitch. Can't wait to get you on my Scramble Team at Fed Up Cup at Simoro GC.
i love Darrens facial expressions it's priceless
Great vid. Thank you.
Awesome, truly
Top bloke
If (when) he pulls 510 this conversation will live in strongman history forever
I think a question and Radzi asks it top interviewing, the manual labour job question is something I've always asked.
WALKING BEST FORM OF EXERCISE
Very sharp guy.
Great video can't wait to see the attempts at 505
The Mitch phenomenon is just absurd. This shouldn't be happening haha
Although I completely agree that Mitch and Eddie are innovators in pushing the standards of the deadlift, Luke Richardson did say that he wanted 550 before he got injured
Possibly one of the most athletic people on the planet
at 36.31 min i disagree but i do love the advice, i work for an American Sink Company (Shaws) it works out in any 8 hour shift we lift at least 800kg a day per man and i have 6 men. i weigh in at 13.4 stone and tbh doing my first Novice comp on 25 June. Great advice Thank You i will try putting that into practise. @Mitchell Hooper i hope you do awesome in WSM 2022
Word has it that he landed in a meteor as a baby.
I love this guy, all top athletes "ye cold tub is a must" then this guy with crazy numbers and speed says thats nonsense
Yeah but this guy is still very fresh in the strongman scene. Let's see if he can get away with his "active recovery" after a few years or more at this level.
@@charizard9735 true
Canada making some great athletes!
Am I the only won who didn't miss the "we'll figure out the retainer first" comment? lol
Just WOW
"we cant reveal too much" except anybody watching this knows the result lol
Where can I get one of those Cerberus Canada T-Shirts?
It's a great looking shirt
We’re going to see how good he is because the final events are completely different and it favors the very strong either way he’s going to be getting invited to all the big shows
Just give the guys three atemps like Powerlifting
Mitchell has a lot to learn if he thinks his deadlift jump to 475 kg will be similar in anyway when he attempts to jump to 500 kg. or more. However, his young age and lack of wear and tear does give him an edge, just not a beastly one if you know who I'm referring to.
One of the reasons the heavy athletes need stretching and massages and whatnot is because they are so huge and inflexible. Hooper seems very lean. Why bother with stretching when you have tons of active recovery and flexibility due to not being ridiculously large?
His talk about recovery is quite interesting, but I think it's still somewhat biased. The athletes that seem to last the longest in the sport take their recovery very seriously. So perhaps Mitch's young age makes him partial to their methods, only time will tell. Will watch his career with great interest!
He does have a master in exercise
when you look at his numbers you can tell his recovery methods arent that bad are they ?
The evidence for massages/ice baths says the same as Mitch, it has little actual benefit. Of course it feels good and there is the placebo effect, which shouldnt be neglected as it is very powerful.
Mitch just values his time and knows whats up.
Let the guys call their weights, simple as
If someone does 505 and Hooper wants to do 510 he should be allowed to try without doing the 505.
Yeah right...
Wow! I really like this guy. This is gonna be such a good finals! I'm gonna be super happy to see either Martins, Novakov, Brian, or Hooper win. My guess is Martins, Novakov, Tom. But I'd like to see Hooper bump Tom from the podium.
The thousand pound yolk story is quite interesting I found myself at the Arnold classic this year for the first time I do a little bit of training strongman training not a lot because my work schedule but I popped under an 800 lb yoke and picked it up like it was nothing first time ever under one
I definitely respect his opinion on recovery but I would disagree all the older athletes say the wish the would have recovered better or the ones that are still competing say it’s because of recover method. I definitely don’t think people should try his methods to recovery
He's the only athlete with a masters degree in exercise physiology and runs his own clinic. Comparing an unqualified athletes bias opinion to a qualified professional with scientific literature backing his opinion is laughable.
@@alexanderpugmire6600 not really it’s across all sports NFL NBA Stromgman people invest into recovery in some way Susie or form
Put in the price money for lifting 505 kg, and let Mitch try 510 kg - only winning the glory, but no price money. If he pulls 510 he will be the world record holder, but not the richest contender.....
@danhipkiss are you watching this? Dan you are already an amazing coach, but could any of this help our boys? 🏴🌶❤️
Get out of the ice bath Brian and luke
So, is he Australian or Canadian?
🍁
@@joaodel95 but didn't he say towards the beginning he broke an Australian record?
@@matthasahand5495 he lives in australia currently, but was born and raised in canada
He lives in Canada now . Went to university in Australia . Barrie Ontario
@@marlonbonas4477 thanks for the info 👍
I like mitch hooper but he is talking like he can get 500DL like nothing even 505 and 510 is by then a longshot and we have seen people try to break eddies and hafthors record multiple times and none has even come close to it.
Freak athlete. Dang
For a guy who is Canadian and lived in Australia, he sounds American.
I'm also a Canadian who lived in Australia. He sounds like a Canadian who lived in Australia.
I hate the secrecy surrounding this sport it ruins the event in my eyes it's the only sport where the fans cannot watch it! it's a joke!
I already love this guy!
Love this, but why are they being so coy about results when they posted them to their official website in real time? By the time this posted Mitch himself and all the biggest channels already had videos revealing it as well.
Not that it matters. It’s just a privilege to see ties guys career kick off so quickly. I love his attitude and his ability.,
i think he might actually be an alien
That's the best podcast so far guys I really ,really enjoyed every second of it. Mitchell is seriously intelligent I would listen to him for hours you have to get him on again, and I think he will do 510 . Keep up the great work guys 💪💪
A legend on the rise!!
Always rooting for Brian but Mitch as turned me into a fan. Thing that worries me is he does not recover like the other athletes do he goes to work instead and I get it but we have seen so many young athletes come in here kick butt and be injured for the next three years. I’m nervous the same thing is going to happen to Hooper
Good thing about him getting world’s experience this early and being such a likable guy is that the current big names are going to be there to give him advice! Sounds like JF is already in regular touch with him.
He’ll probably have to learn some lessons the hard way but less likely up destroy his career completely and young enough to recover and come back stronger like Martins.
Mateusz Kieliszkowski is a perfect example of that... injury after injury. Very unfortunate.
@@alforest9634 After finishing listening to the podcast I’m thinking Mitch has a better chance of avoiding that than most. His approach to training and recovery sounds a lot healthier than most strongman competitors and certainly most up and comers. No one is immune to injury but he doesn’t sound likely to be stubborn or stupid.
How amazing does Mitch speak. Can’t wait to se him in Cardiff now !!
Same, dude.
Dude us gonna blow up just for what he did in the heats let alone if he places or wins I like mitch he seems like a great guy
Mitch is also very knowledgeable. He understands the mechanics of strength and performance.
You promised us Space Cowboy and he wasn't there! Shame on you! On the serious note Mitchell is an absolute superstar I hope he does well in the final.
First thought I had of Mitchell was that he is magnus ver Magnusson reborn and I 100% believe he will pull 510kg and fingers crossed he wins wsm
this gave me goosebumps, no Fn lie....youre a legend already mitchell hooper
what a lousy fireplace design. Warmth to the face, little to the chest and none on the lower body. Why not import one bukhari from Bhutan?
Great to hear more technical information about training from him
If I’m understanding correctly, Mitch’s approach to recovery during competition is focused on staying calm and not overworking his nervous system. This makes a lot of sense, but part of the reason other guys get so worked up is that they need the boost that comes from artificially triggering their nervous system to be able to do what they do.
The real question then, is what about his training and/or genetics allows him to get so strong that he can compete at an elite level without pushing as near the outer limits of his bodies ability as most other competitors?
Not a tinfoil hat sort of question, I think the answer is probably a combination of one in a billion genetic ability and his athletic background and prior training history but it’s truly amazing.
I think it's pretty safe to say he has some of the best genetics the sport has seen. He's only been training strongman for 2.5 years and already pulled 475kg, is one of the absolute best in the world at yoke, solid on log and very strong overall, and he only weighs 315lbs...
@@pathofthebarbell8289 Agreed. It reminds me a bit of an more sciencey version of Big Zs approach. You win or lose in training. On the day, you just show up and execute. Rarely push outside your safety zone, never surprised by your own results.
If you have the combination of genetics and patience for it, seems like it would be the recipe for a long and dominant career.
I want to see Brian win his 5th, but it's almost certainly not going to happen. If it doesn't....go Mitch! What a great story the lad is!
Give the man 510!
Don't make him pull 505 if someone already has.
I'd have zero motivation to equal a record at that level.
"We can't reveal too much"...EVERYBODY KNOWS WHAT IS HAPPENING, STOP THIS SECRECY NONSENSE ITS 2022
the best about him is that he always backing up what he said, prove that he is equally powerful for the future potential. Canadian's strength really put a big name in these days strength comps. Hope for his great success later on.
i know he likes the nickname, the moose. But damn, he is buzz lightyear.
So they can't talk about results even though we all know the results down to the millisecond 🤔 its nonsensical
Mr Hooper is killing the ice bath industry
What's up with the black guys left arm being so much bigger than his right?
