Also if your opponent manages to stand up, you can pass the arm over and secure a baseball grip. At the same time unlocking your legs and post on his hip while still having your other leg under his chin. You just have to turn to one of your shoulder and arch.
Whenever I triangle my legs while trying to omoplata like at 2:10, i find that my sparring partner will catch my foot while i'm trying to wipe it under the head, and push it down to ankle lock me. Does anybody have any suggestions to prevent this?
can you sit up and grab his sleeve to pull his hand off your foot? I believe Dominyka Obelenyte (sp?) does this to set up one of her omoplata techniques; after freeing your ankle from his grip, you can hook his armpit with your other foot like this ( imgur.com/2OUE0AJ ) and sweep backward
Nick Jacobs the ankle lock would not be effective with only one arm free. The pressure from the omaplata/armlock attack is a greater threat. IMO What the instructor here didnt address is the purple belt could just roll out during the submission attempt.
RollnGoldn please show me an online instructional showing a one hand toe hold. Six year purple belt here and we always use two hands to attack the toe hold. You dont have the leverage with one hand.
addi wei ua-cam.com/video/EQ0nxQrJBkg/v-deo.html. It’s a modified toe hold. Congrats on your years of training. There is still thousands of variations and techniques many high level guys have not seen it’s good to remember to stay humble and open minded
Sitting here with a blown out right elbow from this exact position- wish my partner would have given me a chance to tap but no drama.. you play, you pay.. rest heal back to mats..
Excellent explanation and detail. You my friend are a great instructor.

Once the legs are triangled, he can escape by rolling out can't he?
Not with the foot under his throat.
He did mention that he uses his right leg to block any rollout attempt.
