  • I lived in Merida Mexico for a couple months and realized people never shared this information with us:
Do you need to speak Spanish to move to Merida Mexico?
    Is there low water pressure?
Do you get hot water in the shower?
Can you cook with the tap water?
What do you do with the toilet paper?
How do you get around Merida?
How are the internet and phone plans?
How do you communicate with other Mexicans?
    Where can you go shopping?
    Where to eat?
    How are the beaches?
    NEED HELP WITH TRAVELING!?

SUPER helpful, gracias amigo. As a seasoned Mexican traveller, try to learn some Spanish, Mexicans appreciate it and will show that appreciation. It’s not that hard, get Duolingo. FYI Canadians, there’s even a BP’s in Merida so you can overpay for crap food and service, just like home!

Zara is from Spain, H&M is from Sweden... not so American. Also, please learn Spanish, you will have a different experience while living as an expat. Being from Barbados especially, it would be such good idea to learn the language spoken by 550 million people.

That's good advice...learn the language of the country you reside.I am shocked that so many that come from Central America etc...to the USA don't speak English.

I do not want to go to Mexico to feel at home😂 I love immersing myself in new cultures, as far away from expats as possible😆 I want to feel better than at home and I'm sure I would feel that in the warm hospitality of Mexico💕🌺

Lol the water pressure depends on the home, the hot water is not fully accurate either. Depending on the home.
The toilet paper flushing is not accurate either. 😂 Many homes you can flush the TP.
All the big cities in Mexico have tons of American chains.
Many restaurants have English menus, especially Progreso.
Living in Mérida for 2 months does not give you the proper time to see what its really like. 😂 Otherwise not bad. 😊

True True. The heat wasn’t too noticeable for me since I am from the Caribbean AND I spent my time in Merida during the colder season. They say April May is when it is the hottest. I haven’t experienced that as yet.

    • @akilwalton7658
      @akilwalton7658  2 роки тому

I do know they start from young, I am not sure if that young though. Probably around 9 years old, because in Barbados we start learning Spanish from then.
But note, most people aren’t going to remember what they learnt so long ago since we don’t practise after finishing school. 😅

I checked with the company I rent from and yes the price has gone, but only by almost $2 USD for a sedan. So now it’s $42 USD per day.
Not much of an increase, but an increase none the less.

@@akilwalton7658 hey thanks for responding . i saw that you mentioned sedan. I was curious about renting apartments and homes. I saw some beautiful places running around 450 to 550usd. I just got nervous bc I i think its a great way to get luxury and stretch your money. Thankyou.

@@TheSkyhazFallen Oh My Gosh! I am so sorry. Somehow I read gas has gone up. 🤣
I am not aware too much of the prices, but I imagine they will begin to go up as more people flock to Merida. However, there is mention of 100 new condominiums beginning construction this year. So that should help maintain the rental prices to a reasonable amount.
