👋 ABOUT ME:
My name is Ryan Stewart, I’m on online entrepreneur and marketer. I used to work a job I hated for a company I didn’t believe in, until I stumbled upon “SEO”. Flash forward 10 years later and I’ve built, grown and scaled almost a dozen 7 figure businesses. It’s my goal in life to free you from the old mindset and institutions in place. If you follow my Channel you’ll learn valuable marketing, business and technical skills that will help you build your own online businesses.
Now that I'm restarting my agency from scratch, I've been going through the process of figuring out the first steps in how to get this back off the ground.
What's the first thing I've come up with?
Figuring out the economics (money in, money out) of the business. This has bit me in the butt too many times, I've learned my lesson.
Things like:
- What's the core service we can offer
- How much to charge
- Who to hire
- How much salary to take
These things aren't sexy, but they're critical to your success.
This is probably the best advice I have received this year on the reality of running an SEO consulting business or agency that no one is talking about. We are constantly bombarded with marketing messages from people trying to sell you their products that it can confuse people from doing the work they enjoy. It wasn't until I took a deep step back from everything and started to look at one high-level service I am providing for clients and not follow the crowd.
I love your mindset in business and you helped me breakthrough and shift my mindset in business to have the confidence to sell just one service to clients.
Thanks Ryan!!
Thank you so much for that comment Daniel! Glad I could be of service
The point that you made about not taking custom work is great point! Definitely will use that!
Glad it was helpful!
Good Stuff. I felt like I just received a coaching call to save me some headache...now off to apply it...

So much value, no sales pitch, and straight to the point. Great content! Glad I found your channel

Awesome video and great value! It would be cool if you can create a youtube playlist with all the videos you are doing about creating&growing your new agency, so it will be more organized (just my 2cents...) Thanks
I will, thnks for the input
I agree on that! Thank you
youre welcome
Such great advice! I'm in the middle of tearing down my web biz that's going broke and rebuilding it based on SOPs. I need to do more work around the Profit calculations as you suggest.
Glad it was helpful!

Glad it was helpful!
Very good advice..
Glad you think so!
Great content.
Thank you!
Do you recommend to niche down in industries or should we focus on being a general agency? Also, should we do PPC and SEO etc.. or should we just focus on SEO in an agency?
if youre just getting started, niche down .- focus on one industry you can dominate and then scale horizontally after
Hey Ryan. Noticed your PR sticker. Any tips for a fellow Boricual just staring in the digital marketing business?
im actually from boston, but i love PR! been a dozen times
Great video
Thanks!
I gotta know Ryan - Do you speed up your videos sometimes? You talk so fast and there's so much information I get from your videos, that it feels like a really productive use of my time! Instead of watching 2-3 videos, I watch 1 one yours. geez.
lmaoo i don't speed them up, i just talk fast!!
Love it.!
Thanks Diego!!
Wow, man. I can tell you have an MBA! I thought about doing one about 9 years ago, but did not because of student loans.. But I can see where it helped you start and manage your agency! Good stuff..
thank you!
what does a degree have to do with resource management? that's all an agency is, in the end. You just figure out what goes in, what goes out and plan accordingly.
Great video Ryan!!! I enjoyed getting so much value from it. Any advice on getting clients of English Speaking countries ( aka rich countries hahaha) from where i live, Argentina, ( aka 400 usd a month is the avg salary = poor country ) ????
It's all about the brand and perception of your company in that market. That comes through creating content that proves you're an expert and can handle their campaigns. Podcasts, UA-cam, speaking engagements - do them all
@@NOTRyanStewart perfect, thanks Ryan! Im going to put on the work
Is the agency model a good business idea if you want to make a lot of money as an owner?
yes, absolutely
Any advice on how to start an agency from scratch, and how to learn the skill sets needed to start? I am very interested in the digital agency space.
yep, check out theblueprint.training, tons of free resources there for agencies
yea, figure out how the basic work is done so you can hire people yourself by contracting
Excellent video Ryan. So many experts speak to tasks agencies can do to create revenue, but creating revenue and being profitable in terms of agency ownership are two entirely different things. Being CEO a creative digital agency (www.uniteinteractive.com), your comments totally resonated with me. Thanks for continually producing outstanding content!
You are welcome Mike! And thank you for taking the time to comment
Hi Ryan,
I am a Google ads specialist and looking to get a job for that can you advice how I can or where can I find a job for that?
use upwork
How do you define “custom work”
custom work is anything outside the scope of what your agency does, aka your position or 'niche' in the market
Hey Ryan, Your post link is not working.
fixed it, thank you!
this guy doesnt blink
🙈
WOWOWOW
:)
75% margin. You must really hire alot of offshore staff. Content needs to be done by locals that understand the market searcher intent, lingo, nuances, people and the client. Where and what do you pay for quality content to get written so that you maintain 75% margins.
I do - my staff is 90% offshore. I hate to give you a sales pitch, but you should really check out my content marketing module, I break it all down for you there: theblueprint.training/trainings/content-marketing/
@Ryan Stewart Good stuff, Ryan....
In school you quickly realize that not everyone is good at the same things. So it's ironic that when it comes to life and especially business most everyone simply assumes that being successful is just a matter of following gurus. Buying a guitar won't guarantee you'll be a guitar hero. THe truth is LOTS of people simply aren't designed to run a business; especially an agency with several clients, employees and all its many moving parts.
First thing you should do is ask yourself if your built for this type of business. I'm a big fan of the online business community, but having clients doesn't make you the boss. More often then not it makes you just another self employed employe.
