996 is my fave modern 911, so crouched and muscular yet oozing agile capability. Beautiful lines, not over the top, still a good looking rear all in proportion. Gorgeous cars
I never understand " the interior is a bit dated" line that so many UA-camrs say about the 996 It's a 27 yr old car , it will have a dated interior...look at the 993 interior..it's hardly and different to the cars from the 70's and yes weirdly newer 911's like 997, 991 and 992 have more modern interiors. It's a classic car , it has a very 90's interior because it was developed in the 1990's.
@@MrToddgibbs I love it, I can't stand the new interiors (from 997 on) they're so Audi/BMW ..the 996 was the last interior before they had to go proper Germanic.
Yes dated just means better to me nowadays, actual gauges not virtual ones, noce single din quality head decks instead of horrible giant touchscreens, each car/brand having unique interior style that is functional and not trying too hard to be stylish.
Hi Todd, very good choice to own a 996 Turbo. A real bargain in my point of view. I went down another route and bought the unloved 996 3.4 with tiptronic in silver colour. I wanted to minimize my financial risk and bought a cheap but good one. Still own it after 7 years and upgraded it with the GT3 aero kit. Looks cool now. GTS still not running. Repainted my 968 in speed yellow (looks awesome) and gaming with the idea to purchase another car. Best wishes from Taiwan. Andreas
Great cars. I had a 996 GT3 for many years which has been by far the best car I've owned. I don't get all the hate for the 996 lights and I probably in the minority but I prefer the looks of the 996 to the 997 which I've never really liked. I had a 944 Turbo back in the late 90's and I remember being advised to let the engine run for a little while before turning off to prevent damage to the Turbo. Your turbo looks great in black and sounds better than a stock 996 turbo which is a little too restrained for my liking.
Hi Geoff, totally agree about preferring to 997. I actually prefer these lights to any modern 911. These have class :) I have never been in a 944, one day….. thanks for watching (and subscribing??:) )
Great video. Having been an e46 M3 owner for many years and recently having sold it... i eventually want to transition to the 996 platform. I feel it would be an upgrade. Although having never driven any 911 before, my concern is how different the feel and driving style would be given they are rear engine and very light upfront. I drive my cars hard on track and feel would have to re-adjust my brain to them. Always loved the 996 Turbo! Enjoy it in good health! Cheers
I love the 928 but the wife doesn’t so I bought my second favorite Porsche - the 996 turbo (objectively a better car). I love it but still want a 928. Maybe I will get a questionable one like you…I like to work on cars. Love you videos.
996 turbos are great. I was worried about something going wrong with the engine. And I rarely used it. 928s are my sweet spot, interesting and classic, rare and workable - thanks for watching :)
in my eyes, the 996 turbo is the most beautiful generation of them all. It still has this old school 90s/00s vibe while at the same time looking very aggressive
We looked and we wodered for 120 episodes the black mysterious covered car, very nice indeed you should be very glad and we look forward to a complete step by step tear down of it ;) The back end looks quite like a 928 GTS, the lights and spoiler from the view near start of video I assume with bigger turbos in the X50 kit its designed to come on lower in the rev range and subsiquently roll off sooner at the top Probably over twice as many Horses as the 928 and similar weight it will fly Any way great video to show your other love
Have an x50 myself!! Awesome cars. What’s the top gear exhaust like for drone?? I do a bit of long distance work with mine and wouldn’t want that motorway drone you get with some systems
Hi Jon - it’s not bad, but it does drone more than the standard. If you are near Oxford you are welcome to come hear for yourself. I drove about 6 hours in one day and I was a bit nuked afterwards, but it’s a long time in any 911
Oil should not crystalise, what you get are carbon build up's. Lack of oil services and then not letting the turbos cool, causing issues.Oils will take 250-300 degrees without issue, but if the turbos are red hot and you turn off, it will cook the oil.

Yes agreed. Great looking future classic

Hey thanks for the comment. Never had an M3, but I love them. It won’t take you long to get used to a 911 :)

Completely stunning all ways ask how it going
Thanks Dan. I’ll try to do a few more 911 vids

Thanks Pieter, yes it has almost exactly twice my 928’s power :) thanks for watching:)
It's finally up! :) Didn't realise your 911 was Basalt Black - same as my 987.
Yes finally :) great colour

So true
Nice video, Todd. Thanks for the drive along! A nice car indeed, very fast, do you prefer it to your 930?
This is more useable but the 930 was special
nice!.. and great editing on the speedo Todd ! 😉🤭
lol, that took a very very long time
