Highlight of this video for me. When Gavin said getting away from the tins and going to airbrush. Might find a handy media blaster box big enough to use as a spray booth for R/C car bodies. Find lots of helpful stuff Machine Mart. We call it Harbor Freight here, it's another one of those stores I'm not allowed in unless I have "adult" supervision.
Be careful running a pros setup, they tend to run their setups stiffer than what you would need. Simply because they’re carrying a lot more corner speed and need that stiffer suspension, it might be a little loose for you. Keep that in mind. You will replace the pills more often than you think, simply from ware. Stock up on those.
I’m predicting the AE will be 5 seconds faster 😅 smoother and softer around turns, softer landings, sharper steering, more traction. I’m sure you you’ll have to relearn the track using the new car. That large rochester decal is thick with a large white border.. would be cool if they made it the same as an RC grade body decal, and with clear border. Paint came out sweet 🏎️
Nice 👍 im the same, retro kits only, then splurged out for a kinwald losi 2wd limited kit a few years ago, loved the build, way different to retro kits. Love the content
I might add, i bought the best of the best electronics to fit. Its a shelf queen haha 😂 only used it once. More focused on my retro buggies and my losi 1/5 scale truck. 5t. U should try it. Very satisfying
Very cool build, but I noticed that in the manual it says to put oil in the transmission but I suggest not to put oil. only because the gears are already plastic and they lubricant themselves. Love the vids. 👍
Hey Gav, got a challenge for you (could be a good episode to show also) especially for a simple straight lined paint job. Grab a couple bottles of Liquid Mask. You will be amazed how many designs and contours you can do with a brush, really sharp blade and some mask. There are many videos (as I'm sure you are aware) showing how to do it, even as a beginner. Give it a go! PS, just purchased a T6.4 (truck) and looking to give it a go!
You've done a great job of that buggy mate, that bodyshell looks awesome! I love the colour scheme, and that gold for the window surrounds really works well. As for setups, just run it as per the kit to start with and then see how it goes, and adjust as you need to. Pro setups are all well and good, but they may not suit the tracks you race on or your driving style. You need to drive it regularly then see what works and what doesn't, then make any changes. Don't just upgrade parts because someone says that they think it's necessary, or you like 'bling', that's a total waste of time. Good luck with it though, fingers crossed for you🤞🤞
Nice build, been thinking about getting back into the sport recently, personnaly i wouldnt set the car up using a pro racers setup, unless it was to tailor to a certain surface as a starting place. I would probably go with as standard setup as possible to get a netrual balance to the car , and start tailoring to your driving style. Just just a thought, and to be honest i will be starting as a complete newbie as i havent been racing for over 20 years, so i might be just have the wrong thinking, and im struggling to find local clubs so thats another thing.
Please Gavin listen to this man. Don’t just use any pro setup. Unless you actually have a pro setup from the track you are actually running on it won’t make any sense
Those cab forwards are atrocious, though that paint job doesn’t a help a lot, but still a brown paper bag might be the way to go lol I love the chassis though, very nice bit of kit (speaking from a non racing POV) 👍🏼
how many times do i have to hit the subscribe button for you to put proper electronics in it. (a 5.0turn :) ). *dont overtighten the camberlink holder in the transmission. the screw is there just to hold it in place, you can see in the video that the transmission halves has a gap between them. *make sure u dont overtighten anything, better to have a bit of play than anything binding. (bottom shockmounts, hub axles etc). *use lithium grease in the gearbox. *when upgrading to the alu diffcover, sand the plastic diffhousing flat. *there is some tricks ive done with the shocks. running 1 oring instead of 2. good looking build!
Team associated kit built to manual spec is the best starting point. My tweak just because some else did. Buying a Lewis Hamilton crash helmet will not make you a F1 driver.
Setting the car up towards the track you will be running on will get you closer than the default setting for sure. It won't be perfect like you say but closer than stock.
The voice overlay is the last step in making the video before upload it to UA-cam and it’s been a long three days making this video. I was just getting tired.
It looks really good gavin. That's how a nice, clean race car is supposed to look.
Totally different building a new race kit. Your gona love this 👍
Always loved building those and Losi
Really nice result. The difference should be night and day. Looking forward to seeing it run.
I’m excited to get it on the track. Just gathering all the parts needed to bring it to life

Well done Gavin, great build, great kit from Team Associated👌👌👌👌
Lovely neat job with the body 👌
Looks great 👍

kinwald losi 2wd limited kit, nice!
Even there're older kits went together good. Looks great.
Great video my friend. Cheers
Thank you! Cheers!
Good to see AE. We love them & Losi here in the US. Tamiya & Kyosho have been extremely quiet…leaving the BBX out of the equation. That is concerning.
I think it looks great and i am looking forward to see this on the track 😀🏁 and the dynastorm body would be awesome!
Hi Gav, Take the front anti-roll bar off, you don't need it you'll get more grip.
OK
Very cool build, but I noticed that in the manual it says to put oil in the transmission but I suggest not to put oil. only because the gears are already plastic and they lubricant themselves. Love the vids. 👍
Paintwork looks great! Take it easy with the pro setups, as douggilreath already mentioned. This chassis takes the setups seriously. -Rami
That's me screwed then lol
@@RCKickschannel Naah, you just need to drive like a pro!
Impressed by the quality 😲 hope it perform as well as it looks.
Looks good Gav.
I've found warming my psint tins up to about 35°c helps stop them splattering when spraying.👍
Yep it does help 👍🏻 The issue is the spray pattern is just too big and too heavy for blending and shadowing
If you get a dyna storm body fitted, i have to order this car INSTANTLY!!!!
Watch this space

I did try it but getting a sharp line was impossible. I think the issue was I didn't put down enough and leave it long enough.
Hi mate if you crash you can blame the tiny front windscreen lol
Hehehehe
B6 is kinda cool 😎 not vintage but that's ok and nice paint job 👍

YOU CAN'T SAY THAT ABOUT BLING! OMG We all know bling makes everything faster and better, FACT! ;)
@@RCKickschannel Hahaha, that's true ;)
With the gold around the windows it does look a bit like a boat 🤣
LOL 😂 true
The timing loop got pulled out in the middle of the b final last week by a marshall 😂
The B6 is gonna SMOKE the Cougar, you wont be interested in racing the old car anymore, youll see

Yep I agree, the chassis is lovely and the performance from these modern buggies is mind bending, but the looks OMG.

If you need any help with paint questions please ask ..
Now only I know the other window mask is for the window trim 😂
No, I don't think you are the only one ;)
@@RCKickschannel just applied the smaller one and painted the trims..👍🏻😁

Mark from popalongRC found that the kit settings are for USA tracks and need changing for UK tracks and tyres
I went for a medium smooth carpet track setup with small jumps as that’s what I race on. 100% it will need some work to dial it in.
Front shock tower is on the wrong side..the gullwing should be facing inside..
Am I missing something about the weights being made from aluminium and carbon fibre? I would have thought brass or steel would make a better weight?
Yea you can get brass as well. The carbon one is just a blank spacer if you don’t want to add anything.
The best upgrades on these cars is just to drive them.
What about an Optima Pro body?
What is your opinion on running shocks upside down to lower the center of gravity?
I haven’t a clue. I get the COG but how that affects the shock functionality, I wouldn’t know. I might try it
works on carpet

Enjoyed the video! The commentary seemed a bit sparse though, like sections of voice over are missing in places?

@@RCKickschannel No worries, understandable! I look forward seeing what it's like in motion. Don't burn yourself out though 🙂
Paint it on the inside and then it won't get scratches
Really? Are you sure 🤔
Welcome to the dark side. We have faster lap times
Heheheh 👍🏻 That’s extremely true
First comment....
Booom!
Lol your just like me 😮😊
Hi Gavin, really like the oldschool paintjob! 👍 Nice to see that you are going for a proper racer. 😉 Also not a fan of "cabforeward" bodies.
