Also for new players I'd like to mention that right after you finish ARR I recommend buying a weapon first. You will have just enough for augmented magiteck weapon. All of my lvl 50 class gear was fine but my weapon was way behind. Just my experience
I only mention this, because it was tricky to realize the vendor far left, was the one with weapons. After that I witnessed a fellow dragoon sprout with a lesser spear at the relic weapon quest. I was only there because I want gae bolg as glamour. I wish I had said something
Sundry Splendor vendors also sell weapons for stones and those are higher ilvl than your first relics by a mile. relics start at ilvl80, augmented ironworks weapons start at ilvl 130 and even with upgrades Relic -> Zenith -> Atma -> Animus -> Novus -> Nexus -> Zodiac -> Zeta only the Zeta stage is ilv135 and better than augmented ironworks weapons from Sundry Splendors in ARR areas you may be tempted to leave relics alone for quite some time and solve the respective quests for relics+upgrades later and with other weapons equipped whilde doing said quests
While I will still try and craft as much as I can, I can see how getting these pieces of gear will help to get newer players into the newer pieces of content sooner. Commenting from the perspective of just starting heavensward. Mind you, I did hear the part of there being a weekly cap (which caught me off guard since I thought the cap was 2000 when the game told me straight out that I capped and would be losing poetics). I guess the best plan I can think of would be to try and grind out poetics when possible and slowly build out the library while working towards the higher level gear so that perhaps I can either save those poetics for other items in the future or to not have to grab every set single item available for the time being. I know I did get all five pieces of armor for the healer (and I figured since they were shared among the healers, it would be best to have as many classes use something as possible in order to not feel like the inventory is cramped up). It isn’t a perfect plan, but I do want to try and be as proficient as possible so that I can enjoy all what FF14 has to offer (especially if I have only just begun).
Thanks for this, just hit 45 and knew I was going to need some gear soon. I only worry about alt jobs now. Once I get flying I'd like to level warrior. They've changed EXP rates recently. I'm sure grinding dungeons is still the fastest, but it'd be nice to know what else is viable to mix in.

At the end of ARR the gear you get from allied seals is pretty nice if you don't have the time to farm a whole set of poetics gear in a day. It's a nice upgrade from your job artifact gear and the first day you start farming allied seals you can get a burst of 124 seals pretty quick, and another 40 of you're lucky with fates, and that can get you quite a few pieces of gear
Are those the lvl 50 ilvl 70 Gear? If so they are great, but you will need to update any at some point to finished the post aar and heavensward since they require ilvl 120 for the last dungeon. But It can be a step up in between, just a few roulettes a day can get you enough poetics, or you probably have enough by that time to get most of the set.
@Stefan Ash FFXIV The allied seals vendor sells ilevel 110 gear, but yes the rest is as you say. With 110 gear you only need a half set of 130 gear to meet the 120 requirement. I reached level 60 before the end of heavenward, and at that point I got my ilevel 210 job artifact gear, so I was set for a while after that.
Instead of buying the poetics gear at the end areas, Mordona, Iydallshire, R'halgar's reach buying them at the main cities new npc vendors at Limsa, Ul'dah, Gridania, Ishgard and Kugane will directly give you upgraded poetic gear. Which will keep you for 10 extra ilvls without you having to work for the upgrades, which you have to do if you buy them at the end areas. Also personal opinion the sorting system for those npcs are easier to understand, making it clear what the highest ilvl you can get is and that you get everything for the job you currently on. Beside that this is a good guide and would have helped me a lot when I was new. Good job!

I'm finding gearing alts that start at 1 or even those that start at 30 the hardest...I did msq and all side quest on main job so alts are always a pain
Run the same dungeon around your level 2, maybe 3 times and you should have a few top upgrades your level. You should be good for gear around level 45 until it's time to get poetic gear
Absolutely! Crafters in general can make a multitude of things, including gear, which at times during patches are the strongest type until later patches. They also can make housing items, dyes, gear for glamour purposes, end game food and more. Housing alone, is a huge reason to have all crafters leveled as you can make tons and tons of gil that way. So you may or may not see the benefit during your first playthrough, but level 80 and end game cap, is where crafters and gathers really shine!

Wasn’t sure if I should save poetics but will now spend them happily on Ironworks gear, or is it Augmented Ironworks? A few too many different scrips and currencies in game frankly!

Wiped once on Leviathan Hard hitting button too slow, but everyone just laughed and went on without bother. So much to do, even the crafting quests are often great. Just maxed the Ixal beast tribe rep, which was pretty well written too. Fun stuff.

Hello. I’m new to FF14 and I really love your beginner friendly video’s. Thank you. Question: I just finished A Realm Reborn but I’m level 60. I am now in possession of some poetics, can I buy level 60 gear or do I need to spend it on level 50 gear?
You need level 50 gear. Level 60 won’t become available until after heavensward expansion. There is a way to check as there are vendors in the main city with like money bags over their head. They also carry the poetics gear. You can teleport to gridiania and she is right at the bottom of the aetheryte bridge. She will have lvl 50 poetics gear which should be ilvl 130
Also you can repeat, Castrum Meridianum or The Preatorium stages since it nets you 200 poetics and as of now ALOT of people are playing the game and need that done, just dont rush and mess up their MSQ like they did to me please.

You said doing daily dungeon rullete Also this helps new players since it seems like if you do it this way then you can help save your gil to end game. Since I hit level 50 and now 52 that the ilvl of my gear was low and seen another video say buy stuff off the market board. This video seems to be a lot more helpful to new players. Especially to help save gil and manage gear and not worrying about switching it so often. Great video

I should just spend them on my current job now? If Scholar/Summoner, would I be better off spending on summoner, even if doing dungeons with scholar? Will the level curve continue to drag like this for a while and then pick up?
Idlyshire in heavensward with poetics. I believe called shire gear which would be the ilvl 270 poetics gear not lvl240. Both are level 60 so make sure to buy the 270 version.

There is all sorts of stuff to use it for later on. Buying end game gear, special mounts that cost 25 mil, mats for crafter and gatherer turns in for the market boards to level them up quicker. All sorts
So I'm level 55 and have 2000 poetics saved up. Would you push to 60 or go ahead and buy gear? I didn't buy the gear sooner because as soon as I hit 50 I bought a bunch of gear ;(. Now I know better ;D.
Disciple of magic and disciple of war. 1 was initially what was provided which then they release the second tier. The best example I can give you is in idylshire, they offer level 60 gear at ilvl 240 under DOM/DOW 1. If you go to the 2, it’s level 60 ilvl 270. You would want the 270 one even though it’s the same level as it will have higher stats. If that helps at all 💜
So.... What *is* Poetic gear exactly? Does it scale with your level, or just always really good? And then when can you actually buy it? You say its good for leveling, but do you need to be max level to get it? Is it just for alt jobs? I'm still basically a seedling lmao Thanks for the vids!
Poetic gear gear is the gear that you can purchase that will carry you through each expansion. Lvl 50 poetics gear will get you through heavensward. Once you unlock a certain place in heavensward you can get lvl 60 ilvl270 gear that will take you through that entire expansion of stormblood and then lvl 70 poetics gear that will take you through shadowbringers You get each of these at the associated vendor in the respective main cities. Lvl 50- Mhor Dhona 60- idlyshire 70 rhalger reach You can only get these once you finish up to a certain point in each story. Some people upgrade there gear around the end of the 10 levels like for example lvl 58 or 59 but poetics will literally take your through everything without ever having to change. level 80 does not have poetics gear thats considered end game gear since we are at current level cap. I am sure they will release some eventually during Endwalkers. I have level all 16 jobs using poetics and makes it so easy to do and not having to worry about gear past lvl 50.

Are you saying that once I am 58/59 I can gather enough currency to buy some of the poetics, and those items will be valid through the next tier (so up to around lvl 68/69)? @@laddg85 sorry was giving an example. Each set of poetics are every ten levels. 50,60,70. This means in mhor dhona you will get lvl 50 poetics ilvl 130 that will last you all through heavensward. In heavensward you will get level 60 ilvl270 poetics that will last you through stormblood so on and so forth
Nope! Not until endgame cap! Max material is too precious for melding your end game gear and/or selling. My opinion it would be a waste to put it in lvl 60 gear or 70 gear.

Simple! Just doing duty roulettes! In the daily roulettes you will see poetics as the rewards. If you don’t, your just not far enough in the story yet. 🤗
Ummm I wouldn’t wait just cuz poetics won’t come out for a little while. I would say the 510 crafted gear you can buy from the market board would be fine. If you really don’t want to spend any money then you can just gear up with nier raids but it will take a while.

So right now I just hit levell 70 as I got into SB. And the vendors don't seem to be there in RR so am I suppose to finish to a certain point of the MSQ to unlock the vendors, for the ilvl400 gear? Cause im sitting on max poetics not knowing what to spend them on.
If you have finished the stormblood quest line they will be there. (13.8,11.6) and her name is Enna. She is the poetics vendor. Absolutely! Poetics gear is king! Lvl 50 ilvl 130 is what you want to have! Just doing some daily roulettes and story and you’ll get them in no time

The poetic tomestones are a real life saver once you find the vendors. I believe they pop up after certain quests have been completed 🤔

@@BunBossFFXIV Oh great, subscribed! I’ve really enjoyed my month in game. No trolls or loot thieves like WoW, everyone seems genuinely into it. Wiped once on Leviathan Hard hitting button too slow, but everyone just laughed and went on without bother. So much to do, even the crafting quests are often great. Just maxed the Ixal beast tribe rep, which was pretty well written too. Fun stuff.

Hello. I’m new to FF14 and I really love your beginner friendly video’s. Thank you. Question: I just finished A Realm Reborn but I’m level 60. I am now in possession of some poetics, can I buy level 60 gear or do I need to spend it on level 50 gear?
You need level 50 gear. Level 60 won’t become available until after heavensward expansion. There is a way to check as there are vendors in the main city with like money bags over their head. They also carry the poetics gear. You can teleport to gridiania and she is right at the bottom of the aetheryte bridge. She will have lvl 50 poetics gear which should be ilvl 130

Is there any more in-depth guide on getting more poetics when at level 50, other than the duty roulette, or is this really the only viable option?
Honestly, in my experience just playing the main story will get you enough and a few roulettes. You get them so fast!
Also you can repeat, Castrum Meridianum or The Preatorium stages since it nets you 200 poetics and as of now ALOT of people are playing the game and need that done, just dont rush and mess up their MSQ like they did to me please.

Also this helps new players since it seems like if you do it this way then you can help save your gil to end game. Since I hit level 50 and now 52 that the ilvl of my gear was low and seen another video say buy stuff off the market board. This video seems to be a lot more helpful to new players. Especially to help save gil and manage gear and not worrying about switching it so often.

Thank you for the great sprout content! I have been crawling along in the low 50s doing the MSQ, currently somewhere around 2.3. I have 924 of the poetics, i guess from just doing the duties. I should just spend them on my current job now? If Scholar/Summoner, would I be better off spending on summoner, even if doing dungeons with scholar? Will the level curve continue to drag like this for a while and then pick up?

Idlyshire in heavensward with poetics. I believe called shire gear which would be the ilvl 270 poetics gear not lvl240. Both are level 60 so make sure to buy the 270 version.

Job quest will give you the good gear but you should shoot for Poetics lvl50 ilvl 130 is the best

There is all sorts of stuff to use it for later on. Buying end game gear, special mounts that cost 25 mil, mats for crafter and gatherer turns in for the market boards to level them up quicker. All sorts

What’s the diff between DOW/DOM I and II?
Disciple of magic and disciple of war. 1 was initially what was provided which then they release the second tier. The best example I can give you is in idylshire, they offer level 60 gear at ilvl 240 under DOM/DOW 1. If you go to the 2, it’s level 60 ilvl 270. You would want the 270 one even though it’s the same level as it will have higher stats. If that helps at all 💜
So.... What *is* Poetic gear exactly? Does it scale with your level, or just always really good?
And then when can you actually buy it? You say its good for leveling, but do you need to be max level to get it? Is it just for alt jobs?

Poetic gear gear is the gear that you can purchase that will carry you through each expansion. Lvl 50 poetics gear will get you through heavensward.
Once you unlock a certain place in heavensward you can get lvl 60 ilvl270 gear that will take you through that entire expansion of stormblood and then lvl 70 poetics gear that will take you through shadowbringers
You get each of these at the associated vendor in the respective main cities.
Lvl 50- Mhor Dhona
60- idlyshire
70 rhalger reach
You can only get these once you finish up to a certain point in each story. Some people upgrade there gear around the end of the 10 levels like for example lvl 58 or 59 but poetics will literally take your through everything without ever having to change. level 80 does not have poetics gear thats considered end game gear since we are at current level cap. I am sure they will release some eventually during Endwalkers.
I have level all 16 jobs using poetics and makes it so easy to do and not having to worry about gear past lvl 50.

Are you saying that once I am 58/59 I can gather enough currency to buy some of the poetics, and those items will be valid through the next tier (so up to around lvl 68/69)? Ive never felt so clueless in a game! XD There’s SO much stuff!!!
@@laddg85 sorry was giving an example. Each set of poetics are every ten levels. 50,60,70. This means in mhor dhona you will get lvl 50 poetics ilvl 130 that will last you all through heavensward. In heavensward you will get level 60 ilvl270 poetics that will last you through stormblood so on and so forth

Is putting materia in tomestone gear useful?
Nope! Not until endgame cap! Max material is too precious for melding your end game gear and/or selling. My opinion it would be a waste to put it in lvl 60 gear or 70 gear.
will there be a level 80 set of poetic gear that carries us through endwalker? if so, will it come out when endwalker does or how long would it take to come out?
I am sure there will be but I doubt it will come out right away until near the end of the expansion, I mean shadowbringers

How do I get the currency for poetics?
Simple! Just doing duty roulettes! In the daily roulettes you will see poetics as the rewards. If you don’t, your just not far enough in the story yet. 🤗

Ummm I wouldn’t wait just cuz poetics won’t come out for a little while. I would say the 510 crafted gear you can buy from the market board would be fine. If you really don’t want to spend any money then you can just gear up with nier raids but it will take a while.

So right now I just hit levell 70 as I got into SB. And the vendors don't seem to be there in RR so am I suppose to finish to a certain point of the MSQ to unlock the vendors, for the ilvl400 gear? Cause im sitting on max poetics not knowing what to spend them on.
If you have finished the stormblood quest line they will be there. (13.8,11.6) and her name is Enna. She is the poetics vendor. And the last quest is called stormblood I believe :) if you are still having problems, then you can join my discord and I can send screen shots and chat with you through there :D
