    I am always so fascinated to see how you can use so many of what I'd consider the same tool.
    I have one planner and one binder of notes/project management. I used to try project management apps, digital this or that... I ended up spending all of my time copying things around or trying to remember where I put the note 6 months later.

    I use the HB90 system for goal planning, my Weeks Mega for running my life, and the refrigerator calendar for letting my family know when I have something on.
    My brain doesn't like digital for whatever reason.

    My 14 year old struggles with habits but loves D&D. I immediately told her about habitica and we are gonna start a party together! Thank you!

      There’s also a Hero’s Journal that’s a daily planner and is D&D based if writing stuff down is helpful for them.

    I use an app called nirvana that is based on the GTD system. It is unlike any app I’ve used because it’s intentionally manual. I have adhd and keeping track of my tasks really needs to be something I do manually or I will forget but writing down my entire list in a notebook each day (original bullet journaling/GTD) was a bit too manual for me so I would skip days and get lost and feel like i needed an app instead. But the apps always try to be my brain for me. I need to purposefully plan out my day/week goals and nirvana helps me do that in a way that’s just manual enough and just automated enough. Plus it’s so GTD focused, once I learned the app, keeping up with it was so easy.

    What is the apps name you use for your daily task on Apple? I might have missed it in your other videos 😅.

    Thank you for the advice. My often-used tool is the planner; if I don't write down my plans, I'll forget a lot. Also, to be productive at work, we use WorkTime software. It has a great report system and I get to see how I spend my hours during work.

    What an awesome productivity video! I wanted to chime in with another option for non-Apple users. I have an iPhone, but my personal laptop is an HP. I’ve found that Microsoft tools like Outlook/Calendar and To Do can work on different devices so long as they are connected to your Microsoft account. It has been a GAME CHANGER for my productivity when I’m on the go! I hope this helps. ❤

      I do the same. My work is all Microsoft based, and it became much easier once I downloaded the Microsoft apps to use on my iPhone rather than trying to work it with the iPhone calendar and email etc apps

    I'm surprised you didn't have Notion as one of your choices or alternatives. I'm more of a paper calendar planner and we use Outlook calendar at work. But my sister really recommended Notion so I could break out my steps over time to complete some light projects.

    • @RachelleinTheory
      @RachelleinTheory  2 місяці тому +1

      I like Notion a lot, but I find it's too structure-less for me. Plus, my brain often craves novelty, so I'll end up setting up big databases in Notion and then never coming back to them. I do use notion for sort of long-term reference items, but I don't update it very frequently. I thiiiink I have a video about this somewhere. Anyway, Notion is really the tool that can do it all, but I always end up needing a bit more hand holding 😂

    Hi Rachelle, your videos have really helped getting me out of a slump and move on with my PhD journey through good and flexible planning when things feel overwhelming but also being allowed to change routines/systems to whatever I need and work through/reframe failures. Thank you for that!
    If I may, I have one question regarding your common planner, at 6:29 there is a quote or something like that saying "Our medicine is for us first", would you care to explain the meaning behind this if it isn't too personal?

    • @RachelleinTheory
      @RachelleinTheory  2 місяці тому +1

      Great question! I write lots of little quotes or notes like this in my planners as they come up through my life. (One of the reasons I still love paper planning.) The meaning behind that quote is something like - put on your own oxygen mask before you help others. The things we learn and lessons that come to us - or the things we spontaneously realize after years of our brains working on answers in the background - are often there because WE need to be hearing and taking the lesson. I loooove giving advice (as you can probably tell by this UA-cam channel) so this quote helps me philosophically by reminding me to try, test, learn, and listen to my own ideas before I just blab them out to anyone who will listen, just because I've thought of a good concept that works in theory. It keeps me grounded in practice.
      I wish I remembered where I heard it so I could give proper credit. But it is a sort of good mantra for someone like me who is in a position where I'm regularly speaking on concepts that benefit from experiential backing.
      Thanks for asking and commenting!

      @@RachelleinTheory Thanks for taking the time for this very interesting and in depth answer! It's a good and important message. I recently ordered custom stickers saying "First you make a mess, then you clean it up" which is a Joan Bolker quote to encourage me with my writing process being messy, so I love the idea of writing down quotes!

    I'm overwhelmed by the number of tools that you use. I have a pocket bullet journal and Akiflow (you recommended in a previous video). How do you find the time to keep everything synchronized?

    • @RachelleinTheory
      @RachelleinTheory  2 місяці тому +1

      Oh I am not perfectly synchronized by any means - but maybe this video needs an accompanying process video to explain the synchronization I DO get up to, and why I prioritize some things over others.... food for (my own) thought. Thanks for commenting!

    • @EdieBrown

      @@RachelleinTheory Thanks for knowing there's a process. I need Akiflow to put everything in one place. I prioritize at the start of each day.

    This was very disappointing. 7 things, but one is sponsored and you've only been using it for 1 week. You're a grown woman. You know what the placebo affect is, and you know you need more than a week of experience with something to know if it works. You had them for months. There's no excuse. So, 6 things.
